The brother only said what someone said, about the beggar who lived thousands of years after the begar whom he never met and which cannot be supported by the facts...

It was a statement that raises an argument that was not proven....and cannot be proven...can only be disproved by the facts in the narrative in the book of Acts.

Saved by Grace did not say that he believes this as a truth statement...

He only said what someone suggested without proof...a frivolous statement...

The fact remains that the beggar was there asking for money or something valuable...

If in the past he could have believed that Jesus could healed him..

But by now Jesus was dead...and not one that the beggar knew had been healed after the Cross...

There was nothing available to him to build faith in Jesus Christ as a healer...

Before the Cross of Jesus the beggar may have that hope... but as in the case of Bartholomew he did not pursue that belief...

The reason the people approach him it was to give him alms...and that what he was expecting from the disciples, he never expected to be healed and walk...

And then who knows if he was a secret believer of Jesus Christ before his Cross and a believer again after the message of Penticost, he may have heard the Gospel message from those who had believed after the day of Penticost...or he may have been wondering if it is truth what he had heard about Jesus resurrection...

But not miracles had be done yet in public in the name of Jesus Christ...(not in the name of the God of the old Covenant)...by any prophet of that period and after their death...

After that miracle of Peter the people had build up hope to be healed and were waiting for Peter to visit the Temple...

That even the sick were healed when the shadow of Peter fall upon them as Peter was passing by on the way to the Temple...

That shows not only that Jesus Christ was alive but also that God had approved of  Jesus Christ, that Jesus Christ was from God...that God gave a sign that he welcome Peter and the disciples of Jesus Christ...that they were a blessing and not a course...

To the people that was a sign that Jesus Christ was a blessing from God...

I hear preachers talking all the time about God often gives revelation to those man of God concerning those who believe to be healed. Paul said that he perceived that the man had faith to be healed. And Jesus often required it. So it is not such a whacked out idea that the faith the man had may have been his own.

Assuming that your memory is accurate, the minister was very much mistaken.

Acts 3:2-6 (KJV)

2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

It could hardly be made clearer that the man was asking for and looking for alms.  Peter tells him that he has none to give; but, instead, gives him something far better.

I hear preachers talking all the time about God often gives revelation to those man of God concerning those who believe to be healed. Paul said that he perceived that the man had faith to be healed. And Jesus often required it. So it is not such a whacked out idea that the faith the man had may have been his own.

It is "whacked out", if it contradicts the context.  Just because some people were healed, through their faith, does not make it a generally applicable principle that this must always be the case.

In the case of the alms-seeker, it was Peter who had the faith for healing, not the man looking for money.

You are assuming he only wanted money because that was what he was doing there until Peter and John came by. It is very possible that God knew the man had faith for his healing and that might be why the Lord told Peter to tell the guy to get up.

Guesswork and assumptions are not the way to interpret the Bible.

I am not assuming, I am believing what the Bible says, rather than assuming something it does not say.  You, on the other hand...

Acts 3:2-6 (KJV)

2 And a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;

The man went to the gate of the temple, to ask for alms.  Seeing Peter and John, he asked for alms.  Listening to Peter, he expected to receive alms from them.  Peter contradicted his expectation, by saying that he did not have silver or gold; but gave him something he was not asking for and did not expect - a healing.

The genre of Acts also does not support unnecessary assumptions. I would not say that Luke is like a hard documentary, but it's probably closest to that style.

Years ago I had finally come to realize that the Bible meant "the authority of Jesus Christ" every time we read "in the name of Jesus Christ." I wanted to look at how other translations list Act 3:16 and so since I have it here is why I'm sharing...

A man’s name meant more than just a label of identification in the days when Jesus Christ walked the earth. The man’s name carried the characteristics that the name implied, such as authority, character, rank and power—everything the name covers as expressing his attributes. A man’s name not only revealed his character or authority on whose behalf one would act, but it also was the identity of how one was known, expressing the essential nature of its bearer, the personality and expression of the man’s innermost being. To be called by the name of a person would denote the standing in a peculiar relation to him, or being his property. To speak or act in a person’s name would be to act by his authority, and thereby to represent or participate in his revealed nature.

Names in the Bible were considered to identify and describe the very being and function of their bearers because a man’s name represented him wholly. A person could exercise influence over a man by using his name because one would need to conform to his essential nature as expressed in his name. The Old Testament prophets spoke in the name of the Lord with all His authority and power. Jesus claimed to have come in his Father’s name, meaning as the Father’s representative. We have only one life to live and give our utmost for His Highest. Do we dare to live in the powerful and victorious name of our living Lord and savior Jesus Christ, calling upon his name to invoke him on the basis of his revealed nature and character?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
