Deeming something unessential does not mean it does not hold any interest, nor should it limit one's wish to discuss it, I hope.

Pardon someone coming into this discussion later. How does this tie into giants? It's a great examination of these passages for sure. I remember back when I read it always seemed to be that there was far more to it.

If I seen my dad drunk in bed naked, I would have covered him up. I might have accidentally seen him naked during the process. Not much different than what nurses see every day of the week. They don't really THINK on the nakedness. It's just there. Men have this and women have that...nuff said.

The implication "maybe" was he stood and gazed on his dads nakedness? I hope not. That's just messed up. Maybe the reason for a curse though. Some think the curse wasn't necessarily anything physical. ...but how get from that to giants is a jump for me.

I meant non-essential as in the phrase "In essentials - unity - in non-essentials - liberty - in all things - charity"

I never used the term FRIVOLOUS

The 18th chapter of Leviticus addresses the euphemism and the reason why Ham was cursed by his father. I pointed out that Noah lived before the Law only in relation to the penalty assigned therein; Ham still incurred a penalty which was the curse of his father. It's also worth remembering that Moses wrote the book of Genesis and therefore, the euphemisms of his day apply.

You're free to declare these matters as non-essential but truly, is any effort to study the scriptures frivolous? Each of us knows only in part and when we come together as we have in this topic, we edify one another which is pleasing to the Lord. If you deem this as unessential, you're free to abstain from participating. :)

Perhaps I'm confused with what you're communicating here?

Genesis 9:21 (KJV) And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. 22. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. 23. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. 24. And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him. 25. And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

Noah woke up from his inebriation, and knew what his younger son [HAM] had done unto him. Then Noah cursed Canaan [his grandson] for what his youngest son "Ham" had done unto him. Ham was not cursed by Noah.

Genesis 10:6 (KJV) And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan

I suspect this was meant to be a generational curse on the descendants of Canaan. But why Canaan, what did he do to deserve what his father Ham did? And why Canaan and not Cush, Mizraim or Phut?

Well, it would be an awful long bedtime story that would put me to sleep :D You can't get anymore physical than the following.

Genesis 10:19 (KJV) And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

The Canaanites are the descendants of Noah, Ham and Canaan. To be brief, the Canaanites hated Israel and were constant enemies, fought many bloody battles. They were forbidding to marry a Canaanite.

How did we get from that to giants? A long read above :red-neck-laughing-smiley-emoticon:

I like jumping topic sometimes. In fact I've been known to do it. Not on purpose, but because my mind wanders. One thought breeds two thoughts which take another direction and pretty soon.......................

Don't read anything more into my breed comment above. In some forums I get the feeling they have another cross waiting for anyone they don't like.:red-neck-laughing-smiley-emoticon:

Maybe I shouldn't care.....meandering in another direction seemed a possibility.

Thanks for pointing that out! Ham wasn't cursed, his son Canaan was. :)

Considering the winding trail which led us there, perhaps we ought to close that park and reserve it for another time and topic. Resounding agreement to be had here! :emot-headphones:

I started a topic about the curse of Canaan for any who wish to discuss that. I'm stumped as to why Canaan was cursed.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
