How do you lead someone to the Lord???

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Each person and each situation is different. It takes prayer and listening to the Holy Spirit's guidance to know what to say and what to leave out.

Some people just go through the Romans Road and then have the person say a prayer.I disagree with this approach.

It is important to quote Scripture. Its important to make sure the person understands and believes things such as:

1.their condition before God - lost and on their way to hell

2.they can't save themselves

3.only through Christ and His work on the cross can they get to God

4. they must repent of their sins and turn from them

5. believe that Christ paid the price for them

6.confess - this does not have to be a certain 'prayer' but just as, 'and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation'

Remember, don't pressure someone into saying a prayer. It is not the words, but the heart that counts. If you do have the joy of sharing with someone how to be saved, it is a truly thrilling experience.Don't forget to encourage them, pray with them, and make sure they are being discipled. To many times people get saved and then are left hanging without someone taking them under their wing and discipling.

:taped: I hope I didn't miss any important points in there.

Kitty, ask God to make you sensitive to any opening. If you listen for them, there are many. A person could make a complaint about something, or say they have a problem with something - those are openings. Don't go too strong, and you don't even have to start "God talking" - just strike up a friendship - "You know, I had that problem once...........this is what I did..........why don't you try that?" and ask them how it's going a week later. Once you have established a friendship, you could get a little more bold in your witnessing.

If you are in a work relationship or something similar, where you spend time and converse, you can always work it in conversation - "Oh, I know - I was at Bible study last night and this lady said the funniest thing to me....." or "Hey, my friend at Bible study last night told me about this movie she saw..........did you see it?".

Your BEST witness is one of silence - you don't even need your mouth. Live Christ in front of them so that they will see something different and want to ask. Simple things can be a witness - when everyone around you is using God's name in vain and you regularly say things like "Oh, goodness, I can't believe I just did that" - people will notice that you are different and will start to observe and, hopefully, ask.

If you do lead someone to Christ, follow up is very important. I just hate these "get 'em saved" types who grab a person into a closet or nearby private space, pray with them, and then forget all about them. That's one reason I'm not big on alter calls. It's a time consuming experience, a process, not a slam-bam type experience. :emot-puke: (I realize that sometimes it's an instance conversion - even the disciples turned and followed, but I'm speaking generally. )

particularly if you are talking about leading someone to the Lord one on one, in my opinion you need to start with a relationship. be that persons friend. they will see that you a christian. i am not saying that you should not talk to them about Jesus, for there is no other way they are likely to find out what Jesus has done for them and how much He loves them. however, witnessing involved much more than talk. the person you are reaching out to in many cases would be moved so much more if they have seen and know the difference God makes in your life.

other than that when you are talking about the Lord to your friend, follow the Holy Spirit's lead. He know what they need to hear and what they have been struggling with.

also don't be disheartened if they do accept Jesus as their Lord and saviour the first time you tak to them about Him. There may be times when the person yo have been witnessing to does not accept Jesus while you are talking. You may just be the person God has sent to them to be a witness, to plant a seed. it is the Lord's doing to water that seed.

i know in my life there were many christians in my life before i accepted Jesus. They are people that God puts there for a reason, and that reason is to be a witness. when a person does get 'saved' they can look back on their life and see how God sent people their way to be light.

i hope this helps

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
