The part about the tortured person in torment is self-evident: as I have already noted, he has eyes, fingers, a tongue, and feels pain. That would mean he has a body. He is not a disembodied spirit. There are no such things as disembodied spirits in the Bible and this should be obvious from the plain fact if they can be seen then they have mass! Logic is our friend.

This is a call without scriptural proof to rely upon human reasoning.

Proverbs 14:12 / 16:25 (AV)
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Matthew 16:13–23 (AV)
13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath NOT revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto PETER, Get thee behind me, SATAN: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest NOT the things that be of God, but those that be of MEN.

This very thing Jesus warned against and the Proverb declares twice (and John 8:44) Josheb calls for us to rely upon and uses that mistaken trust to attempt to disprove biblical doctrine.

Clearly Scripture teaches us we are a tri-part being as John has pointed out... the original creation of Adam was in the image of God....

Which in your view negates 1 Thessalonians 5:23.

I see...

No--my understanding doesn't negate 1 Thes 5.23

1Th. 5:23 (NAS95S)   Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

No, we do not form sound thought, doctrine and practice by proof-texting a single verse.

No but it definitely defines a parameter that must not be ignored in the whole council of God...

If I were to take the blueberry out of the muffin and set it on the counter next to the muffin, would either be the blueberry muffin?

Josheb, Please cut to the chase?

So you don't believe we are ever separated from our individual sum of parts.

Why?

Parables often involve practical real life things, events or people used as explanations to teach spiritual lessons.

What is the lesson here? I think the lesson points us to the reasons.

You say things like, with God there is no time. This is true. You didn't apply that thought directly to this or at least I didn't read the thought developed well. How does no time apply to the resurrections? I can only infer you mean that we lay in the grave and so lose concept of time. 1000 years seems like one minute so resurrection seems to be instantaneous. This seems to be your explanation for why the thief next to Christ is in heaven with Jesus that very day.

if only one blueberry it wasn't much of a blueberry muffin...

Point of fact: the conjunction in each body soul and spirit means there is need to divide the three ... for God Himself said there are divisions and they must be rightly divided...

2 Tim 2:15

15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
KJV
my argument lies in fact of making them same... when Scripture has shown division...

Are you saying there is a 'conjunction' in each body, each soul and each spirit? And that there is a need to divide each?

I am speaking of the written text we have mentioned here

1 Thess 5:23

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
KJV
clearly in the conjunctions they are divided by grammar..

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
