Well, I'm confused about what you're saying. Why would God allow Paul to write this and include it in His Word if He disagreed with it? Are you saying Paul contradicted something else in Scripture? Or that he was wrong?

I don't think its a matter of Paul getting anything wrong. As you've stated before, the Holy Spirit inspired the minds of the authors of the books of the bible and it has to be in harmony. I don't see a contradiction with what Paul wrote in Romans 14 and what the bible says about the Sabbath. In that chapter Paul was addressing Romans who are converting to Christians. They(Gentiles) weren't required to observe the laws(ceremonial) or be circumcized because of they were (as we mentioned before) shadows that pointed to our Lord Jesus. I get from that passage that Paul was referring to the feast days and other holidays that the Jews observed. But if you noticed, there is nothing mentioned of the sabbath or any other of the commandments in that counsel. A modern senario would be how some Christians want to remember the birth of Christ on the Christmas holiday and others tell them that it is wrong because it wasn't when Christ was actually born or other problems that they have with observing that holiday. In that situation i think everyone should be persuaded in their own mind. But again nothing mentioned of the Sabbath day itself. :P

Am I missing something or were we not given freedom in Romans 14 to observe the Sabbath as we choose...without judgment or condemnation from those who observe it differently?

Let's get down to it, the Nitty Gritty, What is the real reason

YOU don't want to keep the true Sabbath?

Now these are the answers we have so far:

1. Because Christ is my Passover; He is my Sabbath.

2. Location isn't important ( ?) Location is no longer important, because we have Jesus within us so we can worship HIM in spirit and in truth.

3. The day is no longer important, because we have Jesus within us and we should worship him every day.

4. Since Jesus indwells us by His Holy Spirit and wherever there are two or more gathered in His name he is in the midst of them, then anywhere can be the church and any day can be a Sabbath day unto the Lord.

5. We are no longer bound by the customs under the OT law and Old Covenant.

6. So, my reason is that Christ no longer requires it and He has set me free to worship him in spirit and in truth.

7. I consider my walk with Jesus Christ to be the Sabbath. The Sabbath is made for a rest for us and Jesus is my rest.

8. were we not given freedom in Romans 14 to observe the Sabbath as we choose

:So are there any other reasons? I'll tell you a few reasons I balked at this when the L-RD asked me to observe, It was hard, pure and simple, to change around your whole life that you are used to and now put aside the biggest weekend day and do nothing for yourself but concentrate on him, and do good as Yeshua did, ministering to others, no more Yard Sales ( EKKK!! ,my favorite Saturday past time! ) , and no more going out to dinner, or lunch or doing shopping, or washing the car, or having a bar-b-que. Believe me there were many other things that inticed me, that popped into my head that I couldn't do, but he kept working with me, one step at a time, not all at once. But he is always patient, always kind and understanding, but persistant. Now I see from the other side and I realize what I missed all those years. It was not about what I coulnd't do, but rather what I had freedom not to do. I am so happy it comes once a week, it is a gift truly. It is.

I agree Zayit. The Sabbath is a gift. A day we can truly rest in the Lord, meet for fellowship, study His word; take a break from the world. It is a day the Lord gave us to spend with Him to recharge spiritually. It is the day He has chosen for us to enjoy time with Him. He knew there would be disagreement as to the day, so He thoughtfully chose the day for us and blessed it. So there would never be any disagreements.

We can now see the world is dividing into those who believe in the commandments of God and follow them; and those who will follow the world and it's traditions.

Revelation makes it very clear: "Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the comandments of God and the faith of Jesus." Rev. 14:12

Before Christ returns there will only be two groups of people on earth. Those who follow Christ and keep the commandments and those who belong to the world.

Just something for you all to think about on this Sabbath.

Happy Sabbath everyone!

ha!

fat chance.

The Sabbath has never been a salvation issue. Overall Caroline's statement is true that if you love Yeshua, you will keep His commands but I'm going to break ranks with my messianic mishpocha on anything added to that.

Christians are keeping the weightier matters of the Torah whether they realize it or not....and whether messianics want to admit it or not.

I can't imagine someone who has spent their lives seeking the Lord as best they know how but being refused entrance into heaven because they play baseball on Saturday.

This thread still comes down to a difference between Greco thinking (Hellenism) and Hebraic thought. We will continue to talk past each other until that difference is bridged.

This pretty much says it for me.

What?

Are you then saying that you don't have a day of rest, because Jesus is your Sabbath??

If not, I would suggest that it was put in a clearer form. :emot-shakehead:

every day is the sabbath... treated as such.... should we only pick one day of the week to keep holy? should we only spend time with the Lord one day a week?

as Christ said, was the sabbath made for man or man for the sabbath?

if I hold every day holy, for God created each and every day, then I will be able to stay focused on Him more and more everyday. drawing closer..

why be so legalistic, why not enjoy everyday with the Lord, not just one day out of obligation and duty...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
