As opposed to the interpretations of the less-learned and spread false narratives of Paul? Do you think the Jesus'-words-only view got started by educated folks?

Usually by heretics, who usually have long titles.

If the good Dr. Luke saw fit to tell us the time when Paul Met Jesus on the road to Damascus, I think we can safely say he was called by God, and he obviously filled the office of apostle.

Acts 9:1 Meanwhile, Saul was still breathing out murderous threats against the Lord’s disciples. He went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, so that if he found any there who belonged to the Way, whether men or women, he might take them as prisoners to Jerusalem. As he neared Damascus on his journey, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him. He fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”“Who are you, Lord?” Saul asked. “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting,” he replie“Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

Let me make sure I'm understanding that correctly. You think the Jesus'-words-only view got started by a person who didn't read his/her Bible, is well-educated, and has a long list of titles?

Long titles, like my title: Annabella Mariabella BellaBella Rosmaryabella Di Bellavilla IX but you can call me Sister Wells.

How exactly it started, is anyone guess, how it is promoted is usually by men who have some titles and people have some respect for their studies ect.  You know exactly what I am saying.

Would you mind identifying those guys with titles and studies who are promoting Jesus'-words-onlyism?

No, this causes problems here when people are called out.  You can do a google search and see what you find.   I have read the statement of some and I don't actually keep track of people who write this stuff.

It's not Jesus word onlyism as you so describe, but the rejection and or doubt of Paul as a Chosen man of God, who wrote his epistles.

And still, there are contradictions when we Compare the Gospels vs Paul.

Hi kingdombrat,

Could you give one or two of those contradictions between the Lord Jesus has said and the apostle Paul?

Tanks!

God bless.

How about just, "Sister"? ;)

No, no, no. Sister Wells. Come to think of it, you can call me Dr Sister Wells for the sake of credibility.

Is it legal to add Dr to your name if you don't have a degree?

Paul' contribution to the bible has nothing to do with [ licence to sin ] as many interpret or misconstrue his teaching and writing.   It is all about context and one has read and understand what the whole bible narrative is .  Does Paul encourage anyone to sin, definitely no.   Those who don't read their bibles, but listen to others who may have degrees or higher education, then seem to lean on their interpretation and spread false narrative of Paul.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I interpreted this as simply people who trust biblical scholars too much instead of doing self study.

It's a very common thing. Look at the teaching of evolution. Since there are PhDs on board with it people buy into it hook line and sinker.

I think we need to be careful of well studied people who say things that just aren't coming up right, theological or otherwise.

This should not disqualify a person simply because they do or do not have a degree. Look at what they SAY and compare it to scripture. Remember Bill Gates never finished college. I know people who simply picked up on a line of study, pursued it personally and they can blow PhDs out of the water sometimes. Some people pursue degrees for financial gain only. Others pursue it because they have a real and keen interest in it.

I am always Leary of anyone throwing a title around before they tell me something. If you're smart I'm going to know. If you aren't smart no matter what degree you hold, I'll know that too.

I draw a big difference between less intelligent and wise .vs highly intelligent and unwise. High intelligence often seems to lead to pride which in turn, leads to an unwillingness to change one's mind if it becomes necessary.

There are search engine sites if you're wanting to know what others find as contradictions.   I think some of the contradictions appeared when updated translations took place.   Possibly from the original Paul's writings to a copy of other copies.   But there is no doubt the Word of God is in perfect Harmony!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
