Different churches - different Christians - are guided by different things. Catholic and Orthodox seem to be guided by a "Magesterium" of Pope or Metropolitan. Some Protestants are "Sola Scripture".

I am Wesleyan Quadrilateral - where Scripture is primary, supported by Reason, Tradition and Experience.

A theologian named Albert Outler coined the Quadrilateral in the sixties, based on what he thought Wesley would have said.

John Calvin interestingly said that those whose overriding desire was to do God's will, and to glorify Christ, cannot be deceived.  He says that those who are deceived into false doctrine are those who have self ambition in some form who may say they desire to do God's will, but in truth are seeking to do their own will.

A person whose motivation is to know and do God's will, will carefully study the Scriptures, pray over them, and seek to glorify Christ in everything he or she says and does.   If there is any doubt at all that something he or she says or does will glorify Christ, then they won't do it.   They know that the total ministry of the Holy Spirit in believers is to glorify Christ.   But a preacher who desires to be the "top cat" in a church or organisation is not being inspired by the Holy Spirit, and the same with the prophet who insists that his prophecies are from God and who won't take correction from those who point out inconsistencies with Scripture.   He will present himself as God's special person and that God gives him special revelation that is not given to lesser believers, and because of that everyone needs to obey his prophecies, because not obeying them is being disobedient to God and grieving the Holy Spirit.   They are the ones who preach "touch not God's anointed", namely themselves, because they are presenting themselves as "God's anointed", and therefore obeying them is the same as obeying God Himself.

Therefore, I believe that the person whose principal desire is to do God's will and glorify Christ, will know the difference between true and false doctrine, because Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will teach truth to those ones.

Step 1. Find out who the "mother" of false religions is (Rev. 17:5). A clue can be found at Revelation 17:9 where she is described as ruling over 7 world empires. History reveals that there has indeed been one ancient powerful religion which has sat "on top" of Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome, and who currently dominates Anglo-America as a great "prostitute." That ancient "mystery" (mystery means "secret") religion founded by Nimrod is the "mother of the prostitutes." All the world's major religions (who prostitute themselves with governments, just like their mother) originate with that mother or were corrupted by her false doctrines (namely, Judaism and Christianity).

Step 2. Study what her doctrines are and then you will know who among her "children" (the religions she gave birth to or corrupted) teaches them (Isa. 47:8,9; Psa. 137:8,9). Here's a clue to save you time: ALL of them are corrupted to some degree, even the one that God considers to be a people for his name, and almost no one will "be able to stand" when Christ comes to inspect his "temple" (his earthly organization) (Mal. 3:1-4). In fact, through the message of the prophets the Bible foretells the stubbornness OF HIS OWN MODERN-DAY PEOPLE to accept the truth, and the consequences they will face as a result (Rev. 13:5-7).

Step 3. Do not presumptuosly assume that YOUR religion has all Biblical truth or is even close to it just because those taking the lead among you say so. The Bible commands you not to do that.

Step 4. "Get out of her" by seperating yourself from those children of Babylon the Great (Revelation 18:4).

It took me many, many years of intense research to find the answer to the above. Few people know the whole truth and almost everyone is deceived, no matter how much they claim to love Jesus or how much trust they put in the so-called faithfulness and discretion of their Governing Body. Only the prophet Elijah who comes to "restore all things" has the truth about, and power to restore, true Christianity (Matt. 17:11; Rev. 12:9).

The doctrine that is truly Biblical is the doctrine that is in the Holy Bible. The literal true Words of God. You need to study those words in order to detect a counterfeit.

There is only one metric by which to judge many things if not expressly denoted in scripture. That metric is the fruit of the Spirit. That can be expanded on though, as some doctrine can lead to great atrocity potentially, and as such, not only the works should be examined, but the product of doctrine too.

Don't complicate yourself remember G-d loves you and he will save you regardless of which nomination people say,  He's plan is for you to love your enemy and your friends. Bless them all and baptized you everyone will say their right but only G-d decides who is and who isn't. Judge yourselve by the two commandments: 1. love your god with all your heart, 2. and your neighbor. Search the lord and be baptized that is all.

If you walk into a church, you will not find two people who agree on everything. You just have to pick out the church you like best and set a good example for the others.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
