Shalom, @Da Puppers

How do you read a novel? Well, normally, a person opens the book (physically or through Kindle or the like) and sits back and reads, letting the author tell the story (exegesis).

One does NOT tell himself his OWN story, paging through the book for supporting phrases (eisegesis)!

When reading the OT prophecies, one should read them in a single sitting, if possible, and let the author of the book (who is speaking for the Author of the book) tell the story! One should consider WHEN the author lived, WHAT was happening to the author, WHY God used this author to tell the story, and WHO the story is about.

OCCASIONALLY, God will tell about the distant future in the author's prophecy, but largely the book will be written as a history of what was going on in that author's life! The future element the Author will add to the book is usually the NEAR future of the results of what was going on around the author at the time.

Jeremiah (Yirmeyahuw), for instance, called the "Weeping Prophet," was recounting the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 586 B.C. He tells the children of Israel that their captivity would be 70 years in foreign lands. He recounts what he witnessed going on around him during those devastating days! He tells the children of Israel that GOD was the One who destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple through the invaders, and WHY He did so!

So, one should read the things he wrote in light of those events! While there is SOME mention of the distance future, MOST of what he wrote - what God HAD him write - was about that time period and the near future of when God would allow them to return to the Land!

Later prophecies, like those Daniel recounts from the words of the messengers sent to him, will reflect back on earlier prophets, like Jeremiah's prophecy. Daniel even MENTIONS that he was studying Jeremiah's prophecy, learning about the 70 years, when he began to pray to confess his people's sins and ask for God's prophecy through Jeremiah to be fulfilled!

In answer to his prayers, God sent a messenger who told Daniel also about the 70 SEVENS of years! Again, very little was about the distant future! Most of those 70 sevens were fulfilled in the years following the prophecy!

Furthermore, one must be VERY careful to compare apples with apples, not oranges! One must be SURE that the prophecy of one prophet is talking about the same thing as that of another prophet! When one mixes two prophecies that really don't go together, one introduces ERROR! And, while that may be alright (not really) for one's private matters, that's a BIG problem when one TEACHES it to others as though it were the truth!

Messiah has already come being foretold in Isaiah, 7:14, "Messiah would be born of a virgin.  Micah 5:2, Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Isaiah 7:14, Messiah would be called Immanuel.  Isaiah 40:3, A messenger will prepare the way (John the Baptist).  Psalm 69:8, Isaiah 53:3, Messiah would be rejected by his own people.  Isaiah 53:5, Messiah will be wounded for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquities.." Psalm 78:2, Messiah would speak in parables. Jeremiah 31:15, Children will be massacred at Messiah's birth.  There are many more prophecies foretelling the coming of Messiah, who has already come.

Shalom, biblelesson.

Sure, He came the first time as the Messiah Son of Yosef ("Joseph," the Joseph of Genesis), the suffering and dying Messiah, but He is also to come as the Messiah Son of David, the victorious and reigning Messiah. For many years, this confused the rabbis, some thinking there would have to be TWO Messiahs. That's what prompted John's question in Matthew 11:

Matthew 11: (KJV)

2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, 3 And said unto him,

"Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?"

4 Jesus answered and said unto them,

"Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me."

He demonstrated that, even rejected to become the Messiah Son of Yosef, He still did the miracles that were promised of the Messiah Son of David. He was ONE Messiah who would come TWO different times. The First Advent, He was the Lamb of God ("haKeves Elohiym"), who died to take away the sins of the world; the Second Advent, He will be the Lion of the tribe of Judah ("haShachal hasheeVet Yhudah"), who will rescue His people and bring them back to the Land as their Messiah, the One Anointed to be their King.

The Judgment seat is of Christ, 2 Corinthians 5:10.

Of course it is! Yeshua` ("Jesus") explained that in John 5:

John 5:19-23 (KJV)

19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them,

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. 20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. 21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. 22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.

But, don't think for one moment that this Judgment Seat will take place in "Heaven!" It will take place THROUGHOUT the Kingdom of the Messiah during the Millennium, ending with the Great White Throne Judgment! Just remember, too, that that is not the END of His Kingdom!

We are to call our savior Jesus because the angel Gabriel (who stand in the presence of God, Luke 1:19) was sent from God, and gave a message to Mary, Luke 1:31, "And, behold, thou shalt conceive in they womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS!

LOL! Then you should really at least call Him after His GREEK name: Ieesous, spelled "Iota (with smooth breathing)-eta-sigma-omicron-upsilon-sigma" and pronounced "Yay-SOOS!" After all, this is how "Jesus" was originally pronounced in the 1600s A.D!

However, His Hebrew name is "Yeeshuwa`," spelled "Yud-shin-vav-`ayin," with vowel pointing, "Yud-tseeree-shin-shuruq-vav-patach-`ayin," pronounced "Yay-SHOO-(g)ah."

See, Greek didn't have an "sh" sound; so, they just used the sigma instead, and neither Greek nor English has the "`ayin" sound, which is like a "swallowed g" sound, like in the onomatopoeia "gulp." That's why "`Aza" is written "Gaza." Furthermore, it was the Greek habit to end most names with a sigma (-s) or an omicron-sigma (-os), especially names borrowed from other cultures and languages. The Roman name "Marcus," for instance, was written as "Markos" in Greek and we shorten it to just "Mark."

I'll frequently write "Yeshua`" because it's shorter to write and people can still pronounce it correctly from that spelling. THAT was and IS His name!

However, look at the REST of what Gavri'el ("Gabriel," which means "Strong One of God") said:

Luke 1:26-38 (KJV)

26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said,

"Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women!"

29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her,

"Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name 'JESUS.' 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob FOR EVER; and OF HIS KINGDOM THERE SHALL BE NO END!"

34 Then said Mary unto the angel,

"How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?"

35 And the angel answered and said unto her,

"The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called 'the Son of God!' 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God NOTHING shall be impossible!"

38 And Mary said,

"Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word."

And the angel departed from her.

There are those today who say Messiah has not come yet, denying the fact that He came and was born of a virgin.  These people are waiting for His first coming.  However, we are waiting for Jesus second coming who came as the Messiah the first time.

You're right, and therefore, it's OUR JOB to teach them that Yeshua` is the Messiah promised to Israel. As Paul said,

Romans 11:26-32 (KJV)

26 And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written,

"There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:"

27 "For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins."

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election (God's CHOOSING), they are beloved for the fathers' (the Patriarchs') sakes. 29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. (I.e., God doesn't renege on His gifts or calling!) 30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: 31 Even so have these (the Jews) also now not believed, that THROUGH YOUR MERCY THEY ALSO MAY OBTAIN MERCY. 32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

The children of Israel, particularly those of Yeshua`s own household, the Jews (children of Judah or Yhudah), are still the "CHOSEN SEED of Israel's race!"

Being foretold in the old testament, Messiah has come, and was born of a virgin, and his name is called, JESUS, who is the Christ - Jesus Christ!

"Christ" which comes from the Greek word "Christos," is just the Greek word that translates "Mashiyach" that we shorten and Anglicize to "Messiah." They mean EXACTLY the SAME THING! So, "Yeshua` the Messiah" means exactly the same as "Jesus the Christ."

I think it's important to note that the old covenant ended at Jesus's death, where the vail was ripped, bringing the new covenant, Hebrews 9:16-17.

There's a difference between a "covenant" and a "testament." A "testament" is a "WILL" that goes into effect after a person has died. A "covenant" is an "AGREEMENT" or a "CONTRACT" between two parties. A testament is a covenant, because a will is a contract, but a covenant is not necessarily a testament, because not all contracts are wills.

Some may not understand but Apostle Paul points out the problem with the reading of the old testament,  2 Corinthians 3:12-14:

12, "Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech;

13, "And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not steadfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:

14, "But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament which vail is done away in Christ."

We have to be able to discern which part of the old testament leads us into the New Testament, and which part does not.  At this time of Christ, there is no mixing of the new and the old testament.  So we must pray for discernment in reading of the old testament.

This is tragic. You don't know what you're talking about because you don't understand the Tanakh, the "Old Testament!"  Let's go back and LOOK at the history of Mosheh ("Moses") and the children of Israel after the exodus from Egypt:

Exodus 34:29-35 (KJV)

29 And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses' hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not (didn't realize) that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him. 30 And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold (look!), the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh (near) him. 31 And Moses called unto them; and Aaron and all the rulers of the congregation returned unto him: and Moses talked with them. 32 And afterward all the children of Israel came nigh: and he gave them in commandment all that the LORD had spoken with him in mount Sinai. 33 And till Moses had done speaking with them, he put a vail (veil) on his face. 34 But when Moses went in before the LORD to speak with him, he took the vail off, until he came out. And he came out, and spake unto the children of Israel that which he was commanded. 35 And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.

This REALLY HAPPENED! It's not just a fable or a fairytale!

It's similar to this account:

Matthew 16:28; 17:1-13 (KJV)

28"Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom."

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus,

"Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles (tents); one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias."

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said,

"THIS is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye HIM!"

6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said,

"Arise, and be not afraid."

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. 9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying,

"Tell THE VISION to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead."

10 And his disciples asked him, saying,

"Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come?"

11 And Jesus answered and said unto them,

"Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. 12 But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them."

13 Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

Mark 9:1-13 (KJV)

1 And he said unto them,

"Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power."

2 And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. 3 And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller (bleach; whitener) on earth can white them. 4 And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter answered and said to Jesus,

"Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles (tents); one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias."

6 For he wist not (he didn't know) what to say; for they were sore afraid. 7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying,

"THIS is my beloved Son: hear HIM!"

8 And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. 10 And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean. 11 And they asked him, saying,

"Why say the scribes that Elias must first come?"

12 And he answered and told them,

"Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. 13 But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him."

Luke 9:27-36 (KJV)

27 "But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God."

28 And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. 29 And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. 30 And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: 31 Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. 32 But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him. 33 And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus,

"Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles (tents); one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias":

not knowing what he said. 34 While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud. 35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying,

"THIS is my beloved Son: hear HIM!"

36 And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

This also REALLY HAPPENED! And we have here at least three eye-witness accounts! Mattityahuw ("Matthew") the Leviy (Levite) recorded the words of Ya`aqoV ("James"); Yochanan Marcus ("John Mark") recorded the words of Shim`own Kefa ("Simon Peter"); and Lukas the doctor recorded the words of many people, which probably included all three, but at least the account according to Yochanan ("John"), because he wrote...

Luke 1:1-4 (KJV)

1 Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us, 2 Even as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word; 3 It seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus (lover of God), 4 That thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

And, John wrote a LOT about "loving God!" (John 3:16; 1 John 4:7-8)

On 8/7/2021 at 4:56 PM, biblelesson said:

If we are not sure, we look for what's been moved from the old to the new under the gospel writings.  That's safer because in Christ we are saved by the gospel only:

Romans 16:25, "Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ.."

Romans 2:16, "In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."

2 Timothy 2:6, "Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel."

1 Corinthians 15:1-2, "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved..."

2 Thessalonians 2:14, "Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Because the gospel is the power of salvation unto everyone that believeth, Romans 1:16.

So when we are told we must believe on Jesus, we are being told to believe on Jesus Christ's and His Gospel.

The gospel of Christ, 1 Corinthians 15:1, "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand..."

Despite some goofs saying otherwise, Paul preached (heralded) Christ's gospel - the Messiah's good news. The "gospel of Christ" is not the gospel ABOUT the Christ; it's the Christ's gospel! And, what did He herald?

Mark 1:14-15 (KJV)

14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, 15And saying,

"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand (within your reach): repent ye, and believe the gospel."

But, this was WAY back at the beginning of His offer of the Kingdom to Israel! What did ANYONE know about the "death, burial, and resurrection of Yeshua` the Messiah" back then, let alone believe it! NO, Yeshua`s gospel - Yeshua`s "good news" was well known to all the Jews! They read it at least once each year of their lives!

Isaiah 52:7 (KJV)

7 How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings (gospel), that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings (gospel) of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, "Thy God reigneth!"

And, this is what Paul knew because he wrote to the Romans,

Romans 10:5-15 (KJV)

5 For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law,

"That the man which doeth those things shall live by them." (Leviticus 18:5)

6 But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise,

"Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven?" (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) (Deuteronomy 30:12)

7 Or, "Who shall descend into the deep?" (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.) (Deuteronomy 30:13)

8 But what saith it?

"The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart" (Deuteronomy 30:14):

that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (the Master Yeshua`), and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved (rescued; delivered). 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith,

"Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." (Isaiah 28:16)

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him

13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Joel 2:32)

14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written,

"How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" (Isaiah 52:7)

Can you see how much Old Testament scripture is quoted in the New Testament?

When Paul said,

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV)

1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel (good news) which I preached (heralded) unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved (rescued; delivered), if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

3 For I delivered unto (I handed down to) you [the] first [things] of all that which I also received (and all that I received), how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas (Kefa, "Peter"), then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

The death, burial, and resurrection of the Messiah Yeshua` was ADDED to the first things that Paul handed down to the Romans. See, Yeshua` spoke about the Kingdom He was to inherit from His ancestor David, but He was rejected by the leaders (the elders) of the tribe of Yhudah ("Judah") in the Sanhedrin, which consisted of 72 men, mostly of the P'rushiym ("Pharisees"), Ts'duqqiym ("Sadducees"), and the Scribes (Transcribers of the Torah), as well as the priests and high priests (two of them that year), who controlled the Temple. Together, they constituted the government of the Jews (under the control of Rome). That's why He concluded Matthew 23 (the woes against the Pharisees and Sadducees and Scribes) with ...

Matthew 23:37-39 (KJV)

37 "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! 38 Behold, your house is left unto you DESOLATE! 39 For I say unto you, Ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say,

"Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the LORD." (Psalm 118:26)

Lazarus and the rich man:

Jesus was speaking to His disciples in parables, so when He spoke about Lazarus and the rich man, this was a parable that was among others that Jesus had been speaking about.

So we have to look at what the bible says.  We are not at liberty to make things up as we go along.  Although we die, and are buried, our souls go to heaven.  Revelation explains this.   There are souls in heaven during the tribulation, before the White Throne Judgment:

Revelation 6:9,"And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the alter the souls of them that were slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held;"

These souls could even talk to God, Revelation 6:10, "And the cried with a loud voice saying, How long, O Lord, holy land true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood..."

So these verses alone tells us that our souls go to heaven, although we are buried when we die.

You start this with your statment, "We are not at liberty to make things up as we go along," but then you proceed to do JUST THAT!! "Souls" are "beings that breathe air." They are NOT "dead, immaterial parts of human beings!"

So, your VERY FIRST STATEMENT after this, you said, "Although we die, and are buried, our souls go to heaven." That's not right! You've made this up! Just WHERE in Scripture does it actually say, "our souls go to heaven" after we die?! Answer: IT DOESN'T! Revelation does NOT say that "there are souls in heaven during the tribulation!" It says there were souls (air-breathing beings) UNDER OR AT THE FOOT OF THE ALTAR!

You said, "These souls could even talk to God, Revelation 6:10, 'And they cried with a loud voice saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood...'."

Well, OF COURSE, they could talk and cry out! They were ALIVE AGAIN and breathing air! If they had been among those beheaded for the Messiah, they had their heads attached again!

We're not seeing the dead in these verses; we're seeing the LIVING!

The issue of the rich man and the beggar: What's important to consider is the bible says the beggar was "carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom," Luke 16:22.

So how could this not be true if an angel of God carried the beggar into Abraham's bosom?

Because "angels" or messengers of God are sent out to gather us! They take us to Abraham's HAVEN or HARBOR or BAY or GULF! The Greek word is "kolpos." It can also mean "POCKET!" Most likely, it's in Israel.

On 8/7/2021 at 4:56 PM, biblelesson said:

The parable is explaining that somewhere after death, angels get involved with the righteous to carry them to a place of safety.  But apparently the wicked is not carried to a place of safety, and they seem to be tormented.  So maybe we don't fully understand the purpose of the White throne Judgment.  Because none of those who are saved, and are with Christ will be judged at the White Throne Judgment.  They will take part in the first resurrection, Revelation 20:6, "Blessed is holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection; on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years."

So, if the beggar was in Abraham's bosom, and the rich man could see Father Abraham, and ask Abraham for help, then it stands to reason that it's true that the beggar was in Abraham's bosom. So if the beggar was in Abraham's bosom, where was/is the rich man?  The bible says the rich man was in torment of fire and looked over and saw Abraham and saw Lazarus in his bosom.

This is just a look into hadees = the Unseen = the Future. This is a scene from the sentencing of the Great White Throne Judgment. THAT'S when the flames begin. The rich man and Lazarus ("Eleazar") are both resurrected, Eleazar earlier at the First Resurrection when the Messiah returns to earth, and the rich man at the Second Resurrection, the Resurrection of the unjustified.

We're not seeing the dead in these verses; we're seeing the LIVING!

No, we are seeing the Dead.  Discernment is called for here.

The souls in Revelation under the alter were killed, yet they are communicating with God.  And based on this account, there are souls in heaven.

You are saying souls are those who are alive, and breathing,   And that's true based on Revelation 16:3, and many other verses in the bible.  But we are also called souls when we die based on the following:

1) Souls had been slain (killed) and were under the alter of God. Revelation 6:9, "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the alter the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held.  Whose's alter were they under? How could those alive be given white robes, and be under God's alter?  No, based on the simplicity of God's word, it's obvious souls who had been killed were under God's alter in Heaven.

Are you saying these souls didn't die, but they were under God's alter.  If not, are you saying the bible is lying?  What are you saying?

These souls ask God how long would it be before He avenge their blood, Revelation 6:10.  So why avenge their blood? The reason why is because they were killed, and they were asking God to avenge their blood that was spilled from their death.

2) God spoke to the souls under the alter and told them to rest a little while until their fellow servants also and their brethren should be "killed as they were." Revelation 6:11.  God said their brethren had to be killed like they had been killed.  Therefore it is obvious these souls had been killed.  They were dead.

It is absolutely clear that Revelation 6:9-11, is talking about people who had been killed, and were called souls in heaven resting. Another clue is they were given white robes, Revelation 6:11, And white robes were given unto every one of them..."

White robes were given to them because they were saints, and although they were in heaven, they would be resurrected when Christ descends from heaven, like everyone else who die in Christ, 1 Thessalonians 4:16.

Shalom, Da Puppers.

You're right, but at the time the prophecy in Luke 16 was spoken (and later written down), it was still in the FUTURE! It's still future today! That's why the translator used the word "hadees," the "Unseen," to describe the event (not the "realm")!

He doesn't rule there; in fact, he FEARS going to the Lake of Fire! He's trying every way possible to get himself out of this prediction! But, we still read,

Revelation 20:7-10 (KJV)

7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. 10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

He is CONSTANTLY trying to thwart God's plan, but to no avail. God's Word stands immutable.

Again, drop the "realm" word; it's not befitting a Christian. You're right about some things here, but I believe that he wasn't told everything. See, part of the punishment is the regret and the uncertainty in knowing what happened in history. Why should he be told when that would only give him some relief? The rich man ASSUMED his brothers were still living in their mortal bodies. He just wasn't told otherwise. What did Avraham say?

Luke 16:27-31 (KJV)

27 Then he said,

"I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment."

29 Abraham saith unto him,

"They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them."

30 And he said,

"Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent!"

31 And he said unto him,

"If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead."

People don't study this out, thinking they already know what this means, but for kicks, let's look at the Greek:

I usually write this in English letters (ignoring the accents unless it's the rough breathing which is represented with an "h").

Daniel didn't pray ["he began to pray to confess his people's sins and ask for God's prophecy through Jeremiah to be FULFILLED!"] for God to FULFILL the 70 years.   But he did pray that God would end the desolation.   He did... because of God's mercy.   But they were not fulfilled.   The decree to end the desolation in allowing the children of Israel to return AS WELL AS the vessels of the house of the Lord was fulfilled by Cyrus.   But the 70 years was not fulfilled.   The 1st year of Cyrus was only the 67th year since the desolation of Jerusalem had begun in the 3rd year of Jehoiakim,  Dan 1:1,2.  Historical records don't tell us exactly what months the desolation had begun and ended, only that it was the 67th year.

Cute. Oh, how soon that which we read is forgotten! Here's Daniel's prayer:

Daniel 9:1-19 (KJV)

1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, of the seed of the Medes, which was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans; 2 In the first year of his reign I Daniel understood by books the number of the years, whereof the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah the prophet, that he would accomplish seventy years in the desolations of Jerusalem. 3 And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes: 4 And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said,

"O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments; 5 We have sinned, and have committed iniquity, and have done wickedly, and have rebelled, even by departing from thy precepts and from thy judgments: 6 Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

7 "O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee. 8 O Lord, to us belongeth confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee. 9 To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him; 10 Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets. 11 Yea, all Israel have transgressed thy law, even by departing, that they might not obey thy voice; therefore the curse is poured upon us, and the oath that is written in the law of Moses the servant of God, because we have sinned against him. 12 And he hath confirmed his words, which he spake against us, and against our judges that judged us, by bringing upon us a great evil: for under the whole heaven hath not been done as hath been done upon Jerusalem. 13 As it is written in the law of Moses, all this evil is come upon us: yet made we not our prayer before the LORD our God, that we might turn from our iniquities, and understand thy truth. 14 Therefore hath the LORD watched upon the evil, and brought it upon us: for the LORD our God is righteous in all his works which he doeth: for we obeyed not his voice.

15 And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast gotten thee renown, as at this day; we have sinned, we have done wickedly. 16 O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us. 17 Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake. 18 O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies. 19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name."

He can PRAY for the desolations (which is what the 70 years are all about) to end without it ending until God's timing. AND, God HAS been known to end punishments BEFORE the promised "end" occurred! Take, for instance, David's punishment, of which he was given a choice of three things, for the sin of numbering the people. (2 Samuel 24 and 1 Chronicles 21).

Daniel, by the way, went with the FIRST deportation! He and his companions were taken in 605 B.C. while Jehoiakim was still king in his third year. BUT, the Temple wasn't destroyed until the 9th of Av in 586 B.C., and with it, the final deportation to Bavel. Jeremiah 29:10 is where Yirmeyahuw reveals the seventy years of desolations.

Jeremiah 29:10-13 (KJV)

10 For thus saith the LORD,

"That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place. 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,"

saith the LORD,

"thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. 14 And I will be found of you,"

saith the LORD:

"and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you,"

saith the LORD;

"and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive."

By praying, Daniel WAS fulfilling this prophecy!

But Jesus,  and John fill us in on the missing info.   When Jerusalem is trodden down in the coming future great tribulation,  Jesus says that it is so that it is to fulfill the times of the Gentiles.

Luk 21:24 KJV And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

And John tells us that Jerusalem will be trodden down for 42 months:

Rev 11:2 KJV But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

Newsflash: We're already IN the Great Tribulation! It started in the First Century A.D. and will continue until we see the sun, moon, and stars event! The Great Tribulation is NOT the seven years of the 70th Seven of Daniel 9! Whoever started that rumor did us ALL a great disservice!

Luke 21:24 was ABOUT the First Century, namely the events in the Diaspora and the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem in 70 A.D. The Gentiles have been treading down Jerusalem ever since! The mere fact that Jerusalem is still a four-way divided city is proof of that! The Muslims in charge of the Temple Mount is proof of that! When Yeshua` returns and becomes Israel's King, then He will end the Gentile invasion.

Joel 3:1-21 (KJV)

1 "For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with (judge) them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. 3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.

4 "Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render ME a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your OWN head; 5 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things: 6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border. 7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your OWN head: 8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.

9 "Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; 'Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, "I am strong."'"

11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.

12 "Let the heathen (Hebrew: goyim = Gentiles) be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen (Hebrew: goyim = Gentiles) round about."

13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. 14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of [the LORD'S] decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining.

16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

17 "So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more."

18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.

19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.

20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. 21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

I usually write this in English letters (ignoring the accents unless it's the rough breathing which is represented with an "h").

Avraham has given him NO new information; he has provided him with universal truths that do NOT reveal the current timing. He's just going along with the "rich" man's arguments.

"and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you,"

saith the LORD;

The rich man pleads for his brother for either of 2 reasons.

1. His brothers are not there because they are still alive;

2. They are with Abraham already... in their resurrected bodies.

If #1 is true then this is before the GWTJ has taken place,  and thus the rich man has not been resurrected.

If #2 is true,  then the rich man's plea is fecicious and empty.   When Jesus comes,  he is going to judge men for the secrets of their hearts.   No one will be judged unfairly.  [Besides that]  There is no changing place after the GWTJ.

Either way,  your reasoning is vain.

You're forgetting another possibility:

3. His brothers are also in the Lake of Fire or are slated to appear before the Great White Throne Judgment.

Everything takes TIME to accomplish! God established that when He made His Son Yeshua` Judge of all! He is God made human, the Word made flesh! And, when He became the Son of God, He became limited, like other human beings! He is no longer omnipresent! He is LOCALIZED to a particular place at a particular time! He is no longer spirit; He is a body of superhuman strength. He has left this earth and is currently working on preparing a place for us in the New Jerusalem, His Father's "house," that is, His Father's "tent." When His Father says it's time, He shall return to this earth and resurrect those who are His. Consequently, He is NOT currently with us here, and we're anticipating His Second Coming, His Second Advent.

The Lake of Fire and Brimstone is a lake of burning sulfur ("brimstone")! As such, it has a dark blue flame and issues almost no light at all!

Since these brothers are not with the "rich" man, then they are either awaiting their turn before the Judgment Seat, OR they've already been consigned to the Lake of Fire. One thing is certain: If this eternal punishment is to be a place of eternal suffering, then one will not have any friends or family to comfort them. And, they will not have the benefit of knowing the fate of those they once knew! The only reason he knows of Eleazar's (Lazarus') fate is because Eleazar was a WITNESS in his case! Avraham's words were ...

Luke 16:25 (KJV)

25 But Abraham said,

"Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented."

The children of Israel, have unfilled captivity  and redemption to come,  in Babylon, (unless you believe they were still dwelling in Babylon during the 1st advent) according to Micah 4.

Well, I believe and am fairly certain that history bears out that there WERE many children of Israel, even the Jews, who did NOT make the trip back to the Land. That's why there was such a large population of Jews in Persia, which became Iran. We also know that the northern tribes of Israel did NOT return for the most part, although there might have been a few who returned when the Jews returned from captivity. Koresh (Cyrus) gave them the option of returning or supporting those who did return. Many, like Esther and Daniel, did not return, even though Mordecai is listed as one that did return in Ezra 2:2.

Mic 4:1-13 KJV 1 But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. 2 And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 3 And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 4 But they shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid: for the mouth of the LORD of hosts hath spoken it. 5 For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever. 6 In that day, saith the LORD, will I assemble her that halteth, and I will gather her that is driven out, and her that I have afflicted; 7 And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever. 8 And thou, O tower of the flock, the strong hold of the daughter of Zion, unto thee shall it come, even the first dominion; the kingdom shall come to the daughter of Jerusalem. 9 Now why dost thou cry out aloud? is there no king in thee? is thy counsellor perished? for pangs have taken thee as a woman in travail. 10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. 11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion. 12 But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor. 13 Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.

Thus,  the 70 years captivity in Babylon was not fulfilled,  nor was the eternal judgment on Babylon fulfilled according to Jeremiah 50,51.

It's really quite important that one understand the timing of the prophets that God sent. Micah lived and prophesied between 742 and 687 B.C., about 150 years before the destruction of Jerusalem. At the time Micah prophesied, the Temple hadn't been destroyed, yet, the city Jerusalem hadn't been destroyed, the walls hadn't been torn down, and Jeremiah hadn't even prophesied, yet! Micah proves that there will be a New Earth and a New Sky in the distant future in which the New Jerusalem (the "mountain of the LORD'S house") will exist, but it has nothing tp do with the seventy years promised through the prophecy of Jeremiah.

Jeremiah lived and prophesied through the attack of the Babylonians on Jerusalem.  This is why he is called "the Weeping Prophet."

On 8/14/2021 at 1:55 AM, Da Puppers said:

Jer 50:1-46 KJV 1 The word that the LORD spake against Babylon and against the land of the Chaldeans by Jeremiah the prophet. 2 Declare ye among the nations, and publish, and set up a standard; publish, and conceal not: say, Babylon is taken, Bel is confounded, Merodach is broken in pieces; her idols are confounded, her images are broken in pieces. 3 For out of the north there cometh up a nation against her, which shall make her land desolate, and none shall dwell therein: they shall remove, they shall depart, both man and beast. 4 In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the children of Israel shall come, they and the children of Judah together, going and weeping: they shall go, and seek the LORD their God. 5 They shall ask the way to Zion with their faces thitherward, saying, Come, and let us join ourselves to the LORD in a perpetual covenant that shall not be forgotten. 6 My people hath been lost sheep: their shepherds have caused them to go astray, they have turned them away on the mountains: they have gone from mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace. 7 All that found them have devoured them: and their adversaries said, We offend not, because they have sinned against the LORD, the habitation of justice, even the LORD, the hope of their fathers. 8 Remove out of the midst of Babylon, and go forth out of the land of the Chaldeans, and be as the he goats before the flocks. 9 For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a mighty expert man; none shall return in vain. 10 And Chaldea shall be a spoil: all that spoil her shall be satisfied, saith the LORD. 11 Because ye were glad, because ye rejoiced, O ye destroyers of mine heritage, because ye are grown fat as the heifer at grass, and bellow as bulls; 12 Your mother shall be sore confounded; she that bare you shall be ashamed: behold, the hindermost of the nations shall be a wilderness, a dry land, and a desert. 13 Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be astonished, and hiss at all her plagues. 14 Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about: all ye that bend the bow, shoot at her, spare no arrows: for she hath sinned against the LORD. 15 Shout against her round about: she hath given her hand: her foundations are fallen, her walls are thrown down: for it is the vengeance of the LORD: take vengeance upon her; as she hath done, do unto her. 16 Cut off the sower from Babylon, and him that handleth the sickle in the time of harvest: for fear of the oppressing sword they shall turn every one to his people, and they shall flee every one to his own land. 17 Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones. 18 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria. 19 And I will bring Israel again to his habitation, and he shall feed on Carmel and Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon mount Ephraim and Gilead. 20 In those days, and in that time, saith the LORD, the iniquity of Israel shall be sought for, and there shall be none; and the sins of Judah, and they shall not be found: for I will pardon them whom I reserve. 21 Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee. 22 A sound of battle is in the land, and of great destruction. 23 How is the hammer of the whole earth cut asunder and broken! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations! 24 I have laid a snare for thee, and thou art also taken, O Babylon, and thou wast not aware: thou art found, and also caught, because thou hast striven against the LORD. 25 The LORD hath opened his armoury, and hath brought forth the weapons of his indignation: for this is the work of the Lord GOD of hosts in the land of the Chaldeans. 26 Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left. 27 Slay all her bullocks; let them go down to the slaughter: woe unto them! for their day is come, the time of their visitation. 28 The voice of them that flee and escape out of the land of Babylon, to declare in Zion the vengeance of the LORD our God, the vengeance of his temple. 29 Call together the archers against Babylon: all ye that bend the bow, camp against it round about; let none thereof escape: recompense her according to her work; according to all that she hath done, do unto her: for she hath been proud against the LORD, against the Holy One of Israel. 30 Therefore shall her young men fall in the streets, and all her men of war shall be cut off in that day, saith the LORD. 31 Behold, I am against thee, O thou most proud, saith the Lord GOD of hosts: for thy day is come, the time that I will visit thee. 32 And the most proud shall stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will kindle a fire in his cities, and it shall devour all round about him. 33 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The children of Israel and the children of Judah were oppressed together: and all that took them captives held them fast; they refused to let them go. 34 Their Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his name: he shall throughly plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon. 35 A sword is upon the Chaldeans, saith the LORD, and upon the inhabitants of Babylon, and upon her princes, and upon her wise men. 36 A sword is upon the liars; and they shall dote: a sword is upon her mighty men; and they shall be dismayed. 37 A sword is upon their horses, and upon their chariots, and upon all the mingled people that are in the midst of her; and they shall become as women: a sword is upon her treasures; and they shall be robbed. 38 A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols. 39 Therefore the wild beasts of the desert with the wild beasts of the islands shall dwell there, and the owls shall dwell therein: and it shall be no more inhabited for ever; neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation. 40 As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and the neighbour cities thereof, saith the LORD; so shall no man abide there, neither shall any son of man dwell therein. 41 Behold, a people shall come from the north, and a great nation, and many kings shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth. 42 They shall hold the bow and the lance: they are cruel, and will not shew mercy: their voice shall roar like the sea, and they shall ride upon horses, every one put in array, like a man to the battle, against thee, O daughter of Babylon. 43 The king of Babylon hath heard the report of them, and his hands waxed feeble: anguish took hold of him, and pangs as of a woman in travail. 44 Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan unto the habitation of the strong: but I will make them suddenly run away from her: and who is a chosen man, that I may appoint over her? for who is like me? and who will appoint me the time? and who is that shepherd that will stand before me? 45 Therefore hear ye the counsel of the LORD, that he hath taken against Babylon; and his purposes, that he hath purposed against the land of the Chaldeans: Surely the least of the flock shall draw them out: surely he shall make their habitation desolate with them. 46 At the noise of the taking of Babylon the earth is moved, and the cry is heard among the nations.

Jer 51:1-60 KJV 1 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind; 2 And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about. 3 Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host. 4 Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets. 5 For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel. 6 Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD'S vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence. 7 Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad. 8 Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed. 9 We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies. 10 The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God. 11 Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple. 12 Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon. 13 O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness. 14 The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee. 15 He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding. 16 When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. 17 Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. 18 They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. 19 The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name. 20 Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms; 21 And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider; 22 With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid; 23 I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers. 24 And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD. 25 Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain. 26 And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD. 27 Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers. 28 Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion. 29 And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant. 30 The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken. 31 One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end, 32 And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted. 33 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come. 34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out. 35 The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say. 36 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry. 37 And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant. 38 They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions' whelps. 39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD. 40 I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats. 41 How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations! 42 The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof. 43 Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby. 44 And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall. 45 My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD. 46 And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler. 47 Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her. 48 Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD. 49 As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth. 50 Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind. 51 We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD'S house. 52 Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan. 53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD. 54 A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans: 55 Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered: 56 Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite. 57 And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts. 58 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

The future judgment of Babylon is that which is described in Rev 17,18. The future dwelling of God's people in Babylon is foretold in Rev 18.

Rev 18:4 KJV And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

Sorry, but Revelation 18:4 is talking about a different Babylon. Either it is the rebuilt Babylon in what is now Iraq, or it is a name or nickname for another city, but these two chapters have significant clues to tell us that they are predictions about the Babylon of a future time. Some believe that this was fulfilled in 1,000 A.D. when Babylon ceased to be inhabited. (I don't believe it, but I'm just reporting.)

Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in 586 B.C. and the Neo-Babylonian Empire was conquered by Cyrus II the Great in 539 B.C. and issued the decree to rebuild Jerusalem in 538 B.C., a difference of 67 years from 606 B.C. (Some say 609 B.C., which is why I believe they count the full 70 years between 609 and 539 B.C.)

However, the first deportation (which included Daniel and his friends) was in 606 to 605 B.C. This would have been the start of the servitude of the nation.

Remember, however, that some time was involved between the edict and the actual arrival in Jerusalem. This would account for the other years involved.

We are not in the G.T. because no man knows (eido) that day.   Even as you have defined "Unseen" realm as future and not having been experienced or happened,  Jesus didn't say that no man knows (with understanding/ ginosko)  WHEN that day will come in which heaven and earth shall pass away (as Peter says and exhorts about that day to come... that we are looking for [he says,  "what manner of persons you ought to be..."]),  but no man knows experientially (eido)  that day.

It's important to understand on this point that Peter (Kefa) is talking about the FULL DAY of 1,000 years called by some the "Kingdom Age." Actually, I'm okay with calling it the "Millennium" which is just Latin for "1,000 years" as is the Greek phrase "chilia etee" found in Revelation 20:1-7. HOWEVER, this time frame is NOT for the Kingdom, but is rather for the incarceration of haSatan in the bottomless pit or "the pit with an unsounded bottom." While the Kingdom begins during this Millennium, it has NO END, according to Gavri'el ("Gabriel") in Luke 1:30-33. Furthermore, in Revelation 22:1-5, we're told that we shall continue to reign forever over the other nations that shall still exist! Therefore, we only reign 1,000 years BEFORE the Great White Throne Judgment; afterward, we will continue to reign with Him in the New Earth.

Kefa tells us that the 1,000-year Day begins with the arrival of the Messiah and CONCLUDES with the "fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men (the GWTJ)." THE DAY is the part that "comes as a thief."

It might be a good idea to review 2 Peter 3:3-13:

2 Peter 3:3-13 (KJV)

3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying,

"Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation!"

5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: 6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack (lazy) concerning his promise, as some men count slackness (laziness); but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord WILL come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of personsought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

It's not the FIRE that comes as a thief; it's the DAY of the Lord that comes as a thief!

BTW, it's a 1,000-year Day LITERALLY because Malakhiy tells us...

Malachi 4:1-3 (KJV)

1 For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. 3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the LORD of hosts.

The LORD (YHWH) is not idly called "the SUN of righteousness!" We've already "seen" (in print) the Master Yeshua` glow like Mosheh (Moses) glowed in the Transfiguration which was called "the Son of man coming in His Kingdom, the Kingdom of God coming with power." (Matthew: 16:28-17:13; Mark 1:9-13; Luke 9:27-36)

So, the Sun of Righteousness shall reign for a 1,000 years, glowing the whole time! And, we know from Paul, that the light of THIS Sun is "At midday, ... a light ... above the brightness of the sun!" (Acts 26:13)

If we are experiencing those days of GT now,  then JESUS is lying to us about NOT KNOWING that day.   I'll say to you what I have said to others,  if you are not expecting to see (and prepare yourself to live through) ALL of the events of the Olivet discourse,  you are leaving the door open to be neither watching or ready for his coming.

Nonsense! You're forgetting to whom He was talking that day! He was talking to HIS DISCIPLES sitting all around Him there on Har haZeitiym ("the Mount of Olives")! THEY were the ones who were to immediately face the brunt of this tribulation within the First Century A.D! THEY were the ones to whom He said, ...

Matthew 24:4b-6 (KJV)

4 ... "Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, 'I am Christ (the Messiah)'; and shall deceive many. 6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet!"

and

Matthew 24:9-10 (KJV)

9 "Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another."

and

Matthew 24:15-21 (KJV)

15 "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then (you) let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: 17 (You) Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house: 18 Neither (you) let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes. 19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 20 But pray ye that your flight (escape) be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: 21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."

and

Matthew 24:23-25 (KJV)

23 "Then if any man shall say unto you, 'Lo (Look!), here is Christ (the Messiah!),' or 'there (He is!)'; believe it not! 24For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect! 25 Behold, I have told you before (beforehand)!"

and

Matthew 24:26-28 (KJV)

26 "Wherefore if they shall say unto you, 'Behold, he is in the desert!'; (you) go not forth (don't go out there!): 'behold, he is in the secret chambers'; (you) believe it not (don't you believe it!). 27 For as the lightning cometh (flashes) out of the east, and shineth (on things) even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be! 28 For wheresoever the carcase (the prey; the meat) is, there will the eagles be gathered together (that's where the buzzards and vultures will flock!)."

and

Matthew 24:32-35 (KJV)

32 "Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, (you) know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation (people; nation) shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled (until this part of the prophecy is filled full)! 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away!"

This was about to happen in HIS century! This was to happen in THEIR lifetimes! He was warning THEM!

However, so one can see that I'm not advocating completely a preterist point of view, IN BETWEEN these passages, are verses and statements about the FUTURE from then, until now, and beyond until the Messiah returns!

This Great Tribulation, started in the First Century A.D., won't finish until the signs of the Son of man appear in the sky!

Matthew 24:29-31 (KJV)

29 "Immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."

THIS is all yet in OUR future! These events haven't happened, yet!

The exhortation by Paul and Jesus to be "sober" and watching,  is an exhortation to flee from an attitude of surfeiting and slothfulness that will come in the last days,  when men will be prone to say,  "Where is the promise of his coming? ".

Be Blessed

The PuP

Yes, that's part of it (for those who have to be WHIPPED into expecting His coming at anytime; however, some of his exhortation is for those, already anxious for His Coming, to be ANTICIPATING His Return! That's the BETTER WAY to be "watching for His coming!"

"Waiting" is not just standing around with our arms crossed, tapping our foot in impatience! "Waiting" is to be like what a "waiter" or "waitress" does! We should be SERVING the time away, doing what we're supposed to be doing, when He comes!

On 2/8/2021 at 6:24 AM, Who me said:

Doesn't say they are not.

The soul and the body are separated at death. I can go back and open the tomb to see the body decomposing. I cannot see the soul because it isn't there. The Jews believed in Sheol and Jesus confirmed what Sheol was all about in Luke. Because Jesus had not been born or served his Ministry on earth, plus his death and resurrection ..The souls had no where to go and any doubt about Sheol was extinguished in the parable from Luke. There is no story about what happened during the preaching and freedom in Abraham's Bosom other than the comments of Peter. That's where I believe the prisoners that were freed went to heaven either before the ascension or immediately after. Either way, all those souls are in heaven with God and Jesus now. Not in a room in a sleep. Nothing in the Hebrew belief or the Christian Bile puts the souls to sleep with the body. They are two separate entities.  Because eventually the soul is hanging around a pile of dust .....because the body decays and leaves. Both don't sleep together. I also follow the scientific recordings of strange phenomena  at the moment of death. A decisive weight difference when the last breath occurs. Film or recordings that have caught something leaving the body at death .....a soul. The soul doesn't sleep.

On the cross Jesus referenced the Hebrew name for Abraham's Bosom , that of Paradise. The thief wouldn't know of heaven and according to Jewish belief, the thief would go to Abraham's Bosom or paradise. Jesus had work to do with the prisoners of Paradise.

As I said ....Abraham's Bosom is empty now because there is no need since Jesus drew the line in the sand by saying "No one goes goes to the Father  but through me."

Paradise now has a different meaning.

Aint no such thing as SOUL SLEEP

Samuel is portrayed as conscious after he was called up - it was WRONG for Saul to have him called up-but it was REAL that he was indeed called up - conscious - and predicted the very-soon death of Saul and his son.

The souls under the altar in Revelation can speak and be spoken to.

Paul contrasts being alive on earth with “being present with the Lord”

Whether one class Luke 16 as a parable or not doesnt matter - Jesus would not present the after-death state in a false context

Abraham, beggar Lazarus, rich man - are portrayed as CONSCIOUS AFTER DEATH

CONSCIOUS!!!

This blows this SDA tripe of Soul Sleep outta the water

Samuel conscious well after death.

Souls in Revelation conscious well after death.

Paul contrasting being alive on earth with being PRESENT WITH THE LORD (and not just sleeping beside Him either)

Soul Sleep - Bah! A myth!
