Bro Ycf,

I think the Lord Jezus entered dead at Thursday evening, because at that time the Holy Ghost left Him.
The counting starts there.

Incidentally, it was necessary that the Holy Spirit had to leave the Lord Jesus, because He was made sin!  (2Cor.5: 21)

God the Holy Father cannot have fellowship with man who is guilty of sin.

THE LORD JESUS WAS LOADED WITH THE SIN GUILT OF ALL HUMANITY!

(No shouting, this is the bottom line.)

Hence, the Lord Jesus prayed on the cross:

Mat 27:46 KJV
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Mathew 27:45-50

45 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).

47 When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.”

48 Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49 The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”

50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.

***According to the scriptures above Jesus died three in the Afternoon our time which the 9th hour Jewish day time.

(Twelve hours night time 1-12, 6pm to 6am and twelve hours day time from 6am to 6pm. 1-12 hours.

12+12=24 hours in a day.

Kinegarden staff to some, but not to everyone, not everyone is good in math.)

The new Jewish day will start at six o'clock pm our time three hours since the death of Jesus Christ.

Or at the end of the 12th hour Jewish time according to their religious Calendar.

This is the first day of Jesus Christ death.

I have to find out which day that was, we have the time he was crucified and the time he died, but in this passage we do not have the name of the day.

But we still count this day as the first day of Jesus Christ death.

When we have the day we will be able to say that Jesus Christ died at three o'clock in the afternoon, on this day, and count this day as one of the three days.

Two more days left before his resurrection.

I will follow up with scriptures which identify the day Jesus Christ died.

If you have the scriptures please post it and then we look for something else.

But if we then look at the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, we see that He died on the (Friday) evening before Shabbat.
Then the night comes to Saturday, and then the night from Saturday to Sunday.
These are 2 nights and not 3.

Where is the third night?

Tradition states Jesus died on Friday. But "before the sabbath" mean before the Passover sabbath and not the weekly sabbath.

Leviticus 23 prescribes the Passover sabbath and the feast of unleavened bread in an ambiguous way

  • is it to be observed on 15 Nisan as a co-holiday
  • is it to be observed on 14 and 15 Nisan

The official Passover sabbath / seder was ruled to be on 15 Nisan as a co-holiday with the feast of unleavened bread.

While the unofficial Passover Sabbath was to be kept the night before (I have heard of this being called the Galilean Seder, or the seder for far flung Jews who pilgrimaged to Jerusalem to lessen the overcrowding... ).

Once again the stroke of genius by the Lord. This way he was able to keep Passover, then be crucified with the pascal lamb the next day, and be the Passover blood on the doorposts (so to speak) when the official seder was kept.

Brilliant!

I've heard arguments for a Thursday crucifixion and even a Wednesday. The Bible is clear in the Gospels and Leviticus 23 that the resurrection took place on the first day of the week  (on the morrow after the weekly sabbath). So, what the (mostly) Roman Catholics perceived as a Friday crucifixion based on a misunderstanding about the day before the sabbath (preparation day) which was referring to the Passover sabbath not the weekly sabbath... huh huh huh ← I'm outta breath just typing this... LOL

The only certainty is the resurrection on Sunday. So count back three days three nights.

BTW the Wednesday advocates believe the resurrection took place in the evening ("between the sabbaths") between Saturday and Sunday and that it was discovered after the fact on Sunday...

Bro Ycf and bro JohnD,

I am not at all aware of Jewish celebrations, I am not interested in that either.
The Sabbath according to Jewish tradition is on Saturday, so that means the crucifixion was on Friday (3pm).
I don't know if there was a special Jewish Sabbath in the week of the cross.
What I do know is that as long as a person is not justified by the Lord Jesus, s/he is automatically still in death, even though he looks physically alive!

So it is possible that someone pretends to be very religious, often goes to church or to the synagogue, but is inwardly dead! (Please remember this principle.)

The Jewish lobby should also recognize this, but they don't want it!  Hence, it has a vital interest in moving the moment of crucifixion.
In this way, attention is diverted that they too are separate from God, and are therefore dead!
Just as the Lord Jesus said:

Mat 23:27 KJV 'Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.

The word 'within' indicates the heavenly reality!
Anyone who is not justified, but still has a sin debt, cannot have fellowship with God's Holy Ghost!
When the Holy Ghost left the Lord Jesus on Thursday evening, His soul was in death!  (Remember the principle.)
Physically He was still on earth, but because of our great sin debt, the Holy Ghost could not be with Him during those hours.
Whoever has sin and therefore lacks the Holy Ghost, will die as a result! (Gen.2:17)

This spiritual death lasted for the Lord Jesus all night until Friday the ninth hour.
Then He is killed according to the flesh, and His Sacrifice is brought for our debt.  He commands His spirit into the Hands of the Father, He immediately comes to give Him the Holy Ghost.  Hallelujah!

After He had died physically, the Lord Jesus entered Hades, but has already been made alive by the Spirit !!  While the unspiritual people and the spectators think that He is dead then.
The visible, His dead body, was therefore not determining, but His Spirit, the invisible to the world.

The whole preaching of the Lord Jesus was about the invisible Kingdom of heaven.  Not about an earthly temple.
It is striking that His death and dying are also manifested in the same way, thus starting in the invisible spiritual world.
Then His resurrection also proceeds in the same way: first His soul made alive by the Holy Ghost, only then His visible body.

God bless you.

Jesus was always being inquired of by the Jews for a sign. He gave them one in reference to His death and resurrection. He told them that just like Jonas, He would be in the earth 3 days and 3 nights. In the Gospel of John Jesus again gave the Jews a sign by telling them if this temple was destroyed He would raise it up in 3 days. Jesus was referring to His body.

(Matthew 12:38) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

3 Days And 3 Nights

The scriptures explain how Jesus was in the earth 3 days and 3 nights just as He had foretold.

How It Really Happened

3 Days And 3 Nights

                                                  SU  M  T  W  TH  F  S

                                        Days                           1   1  1

                                       Nights                   1     1   1

In looking at the previous scriptures one should now have a better understanding, as to what took place. Remember Mary did not come to the Grave site until the first day of the week which is Sunday. (John 20:1) "The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulcher", And it was early in the morning and it was still dark. But Jesus had already risen. That's because Jesus went into His grave right before the end of the Passover or Wed. evening. The passing of the Passover brought in the Feast of the Unleavened Bread. So Jesus would Have been in the Grave Wednesday night, Thursday daytime and Thursday night, Friday daytime, Friday night, Saturday daytime and Jesus rose right before the sun went down on Saturday. Hence one has the 3 days and 3 nights which Jesus prophesied.

His death Wednesday night is consistent with the comment of the prophet Daniel, stating the Messiah would be cut off (killed) in the midst of the week.

Daniel 9:26-27 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week (Wednesday is the middle of the week) he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, (Remember, Jesus is the sacrificial Passover Lamb).

Which happened on the first day and before the women reach the Tomb when it was still dark as  the gaurds had time to settle down from what happened and discussed the matter between them selves and get together their staff and return to their barrack.

Hi bro, your question is good and had to be address.

Ist Corinthians 15:4

Jesus Christ was raised ON THE THIRD DAY according to the scriptures.

The prophetic it was that the Christ was to raised on the third day and anytime after the sunset on Saturday will make it sufficient to meet the requirements on the third day by a strict rule.

The Farisees never raised the objection that Jesus Christ was raised before the sunrise on Sunday morning and the Pharisees knew the time when Jesus Christ was raised from the dead, not that they were present themselves as eye witnesses but by interviewing the Roman soldiers.

The Pharisees were the ones who asked Pilate to post Guard outside the Tomb for at least three days.

So the soldiers had to report to them.

The soldiers never claimed that they fall asleep, to the contrary they claimed that they were eye witnesses of everything that happened.

The Pharisees offered to pay them to say that they fall asleep.

And that when they woke up and show the stone rolled of the entrance to the Tomb and Jesus Christ body not being there they left.

The Jews offered to pay them to day to support their proposition that the disciples stole the body of Jesus Christ which the soldiers cannot testify who were asked to say that they were asleep during the happenings.

There is something strange that happened which makes it very difficult to accept the proposition of the Jewish leaders, the wrappings around Jesus Christ body which were used to wrap him were left inside the Tomb and were not cut, and the face cloth was folded in a familiar way known only to the disciples who during all that time where in other places with friends and they could proved their alibis.

The evidence left behind at the Tomb are not synonymous to the way some people or anyone would had to act if they wanted to steal the body of Jesus Christ.

They will take it from there as soon as possible.

There was no need to take the wrappings off and take the time to fold the face cloth in some familiar way. Just the way Jesus Christ fold the "kikoman" when he was celebrating the Passover holiday with his disciples.

Jesus Christ asked the disciples to follow him as they were, with the teachings they had from their parents, from their elders, from their synagogues.

Jesus Christ along the way he tried to teach them many things they were not in the Synagogues.

Some of the disciples were disciples of John the Baptist who taught them some things new to them, not taught in the synagogues.

The beliefs of the disciples were the same as the beliefs of the Nation in this that the Christ will live forever and rule as their King forever.

To them it was simple when they said their King for ever it included that he won't die and Israel will remain free forever.

The Christ will destroy all their enemies, anyone who will come against them will be destroyed.

The cycle life will continue as it was, they will be born and die but he will live forever.

I am not sure that the disciples may have come to believe that they also may live forever with him, because they will ruled with him.

That's why when Jesus Christ said that he will die, they were saying to themselves, why Jesus is saying that he will die, the Christ will not die, will never die.

They were wondering if Jesus Christ was testing them.

And they were saying among themselves that he was saying those things to test them.

One time Peter took Jesus on the side and rebuke him for saying that he will die;

Jesus also told them that he will raise from the dead but they did not and could not go beyond the statement that he will die;  they did not discuss among them selves what does Jesus meant that he will raise from the dead in three days.

Jesus also told them that he will suffer in their hands before they put him to death.

They did not know that it was the will of God that Jesus was to be punish severly before the Cross.

They could not that time understand that the punishment Jesus Christ received it contributed to his early death and his legs were not broken as it had to happen to the other two criminals to whom they had to break their legs to speed up their deaths by the request of the leaders of the people.

They did not understood that Jesus would take his body back as it was without being healed as it happened to Lasarus a week earlier.

(As Pete was a lot older than Jesus and he had appointed himself to look after him, to be his body guard and to protect him.)

We can see that when they tried to arrest him and earlier when Peter earlier said that I will always be there by your side to protect you even if it cost my life.

That Peter rebuked Jesus and told him do not say that you will die, because that is synonymous that you are confessing that you are not the Christ.

Jesus many times he told them that he will be put to death and that he will raise up on the third day.

Which we understand according to the factual evidence in scripture it happened on Sunday, the day after the last day of the seven day week which is the Sabbath.

Sunday being the first Calendar day of the week.

Any time of Sunday it is Sunday.

Jesus Christ did not say the specific time that he will raise up on Sunday.

But from the biblical factual evidence it happened some time before the women reach the Tomb after the  Sabbath day and on Sunday early in the morning.

So Sunday is the Day Jesus was raised from the dead.

This is the third day...

We have biblical factual recordings from eye witness from both Jesus Christ sympathizers and those of the leaders of the people and the Roman's that Jesus died on the day before the Sabbath which it was the day they prepare for the Sabbath which was call preparation day...the Friday..

In Greek is still called Paraskeuy -

We have testimonies from eye witness that Jesus died on Friday three hours before the beginning of the Sabbath day which DAY ONE

SUNDAY IS DAY THREE

AND THE DAY BETWEEN FRIDAY AND SUNDAY IS THE SECOND DAY.

WHICH IS THE SABBATH DAY.

Jesus was telling what will happen to him, that after the leaders will abused him they will kill him and that he will raise from the dead on the third day.

if there is something you need to question, please bring it for discussion.

I know what Jesus said when he gave the Jews the sign of Jonah.

But from the way he kept teaching his disciples that he will be raised on the third day, repeated times knowing what he had said about Jonah.

It is clear and it is admitted by all sides present that Jesus Christ died on three in the afternoon on Friday.

Note

The enemy tried to use the example of Jonah to prove that Jesus is not the Christ because he was raised to early.

And some took it upon themselves to try and "cure the defect" when there is not a defect..

By creating arguments that Jesus Christ died before Friday...

Those who wanted Jesus Christ dead and who witness everything are the same people who said that Jesus died at three o' clock on Friday before the Sabbath day.

And asked Pilate to take him down from the Cross before the Sabbath begin.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
