Again if this is the case then why are we constantly remind that we are in a battle

1 Corinthians 10: 2 But I beg you that when I am present I may not be bold with that confidence by which I intend to be bold against some, who think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not [a]carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

Those of us who overcome our fleshly inclinations, the world sees as enemies. The spiritual is currently constantly in battle against the carnal.

Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

According to the Word in Romans 7-8, Salvation, due to Christs sacrifice is where we are no longer enslaved to our carnal passions (should we so choose to overcome and free ourselves). In which case, as the Word is Spiritual, and salvation is spiritual; those who then choose to remain in their carnal sins would not benefit from a spiritual effect.

Think about this logically; why would someone who wantonly continues to live for their flesh, want to live for the spirit, when they have been given the free gift to leave their sins, should they so choose, but instead choose not to? It is counterintuitive.

Salvation is therefore for those who earnestly want to leave their carnal inclinations, in order to live for their spirit (Romans 8:1), while those who willfully continue to live for their flesh (Romans 8:5), receive no spiritual prize.

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

Hi luigi, The title of your thread caught my interest as I was scrolling down today's activity. I have long considered three simple statements to be the truth about my own salvation -

  • By God's grace through my faith in Christ I am saved from the penalty of sin.
  • By God's Spirit at work in me I am being saved from the power of sin.
  • By God's mercy on Judgment Day I will be saved from the presence of sin.

The invitation is for all to put their trust in God and have faith in Christ, but as with all invitations they can be accepted or rejected.

The Parable of the Wedding Feast
Mat 22:1  And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
Mat 22:2  The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
Mat 22:3  And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

Humanity has been studying this for a long time and while there a splinters of other view points. The view point that we have two natures, that battle between each other in our minds has been pretty much accepted by the majority of people, even people who hadn't heard of Jesus

This sounds alot like what Paul tells us of the fruit of the flesh and fruit if the Spirit, why would hell us this, if it was a non-issue for real believers?

Galatians 5:

9 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: [d]adultery, [e]fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, [f]murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 [g]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

Hopefully you are trying to say there are "special Christians"

Hi Michael37, I believe also that we are saved from sin, by Gods grace through our faith in Christ. What faith in Christ means to me is to believe in what Christ is, believes, and represents, which is to love God and to love our neighbor, among other spiritual virtues.

From my understanding of the Word in Romans 7 & 8, in order to believe in the spiritual virtues that are Christ, we have to leave our carnal inclinations which opposes the spiritual (Romans 8:6-8).

Romans 8:6  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

What I am saying is that there are some who believe in the Spirit, while there are others who believe in the flesh. Those who live in the flesh, though they may claim faith/belief in Christ, in reality do not believe in Christ, whose life is for the Spirit.

I am not saying that we do not believe in Christ if we sin (which we all do), but that those of us who practice sinning, and are living for their flesh as those in Galatians 5:19-21, & Philippians 3:18-19, are they who delude themselves into believing a kindergarten perspective of salvation; one in which they are saved away from their carnal loves, into Christs spiritual world.

Okay so there are Christians and then there are the lukewarm, the pretenders, the compromisers. Okay I get that

Yeah. I do not believe myself a pretender or compromiser, but I do consider myself somewhat lukewarm. I do though hope to improve. Peace to you.

How?
Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,
         and the Word was God.

God called me through the word......       see above

If you have received the Holy Spirit, into your spirit/ heart, by God and only God, you can’t receive him yourself,

Then you automatically follow Christ, he chose you, you are His, He indwells your heart, therefore change is notable straight away, you are a new creation in Christ,..

I am going through a hard time at the moment,I am honest with God, i speak from my heart, I told him I need a break from what I’ve been called to do, I was so angry yesterday,I lost it, but!......I have nowhere to go,I know God is in my situation,I feel better for being honest with him, rather than keeping my feelings in, he knows them anyway, so my point is, I have NO CHOICE....but to follow God, because i was called to do so....I can’t even think about going my own way.....where would I go?.....I must be obedient to my calling....but sometimes I need a break, because it’s not easy at times, especially if i try to do it without God, that’s when I run into trouble,...I have to wait on him, I can’t rush him...this is my personal walk with God..but felt the need inside to share.

My eyes and heart are fixed on God....He is in “. Complete “ control of my life....

Being led by Him is the best thing ever, but it can be very hard at times...but it’s for the best I know that.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
