Do you think this is still happening today?

“We needed to talk about these problems, because some who pretended to be our brothers had come into our group secretly. They came in like spies to find out about the freedom we have in Christ Jesus. They wanted to make us slaves, but we did not agree with anything those false brothers wanted. We wanted the truth of the Good News to continue for you.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:4-5‬

“Some people have secretly entered your group. These people have already been judged guilty for what they are doing. Long ago the prophets wrote about them. They are against God. They have used the grace of our God in the wrong way—to do sinful things. They refuse to follow Jesus Christ, our only Master and Lord.”
‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:4‬ ‭

“They are false apostles, lying workers. They only pretend to be apostles of Christ. That does not surprise us, because even Satan changes himself to look like an angel of light. So it does not surprise us if Satan’s servants make themselves look like servants who work for what is right. But in the end those people will get the punishment they deserve.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭11:13-15‬ ‭

“In the past there were false prophets among God’s people. It is the same now. You will have some false teachers in your group. They will teach things that are wrong—ideas that will cause people to be lost. And they will teach in a way that will be hard for you to see that they are wrong. They will even refuse to follow the Master who bought their freedom. And so they will quickly destroy themselves.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭

I think it does still happen and while we may not be able to spot them right away if we are given time we can see their deeds. Not all are simply misguided some are doing it on purpose. It is important to know the difference.

I don't know but there are wicked people online. They act like they dont have knowledge of the Spirit and of love. You know when you are around such people because they dont edify anyone, they feed themselves.

12 These people are blemishes at your love feasts, eating with you without the slightest qualm—shepherds who feed only themselves. They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind; autumn trees, without fruit and uprooted—twice dead. 13 They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones 15 to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”[e] 16 These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.

A Call to Persevere

17 But, dear friends, remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold. 18 They said to you, “In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.” 19 These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.

20 But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Who are you guessing?

They are both online and offline. Here are the signs of them. Some we can’t see just by being online but some we can:

“Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:29-32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I put the things I think we can see online in bold. Since this is a place we’re people debate I think it is important to say debate is not on the list by itself. We can see them debate and also have many of the other characteristics as well.

As whyme posted also -“These people are grumblers and faultfinders; they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage.”

As I posted also- “Satan’s servants make themselves look like servants who work for what is right.”

“ They will teach things that are wrong—ideas that will cause people to be lost. And they will teach in a way that will be hard for you to see that they are wrong.”

In order for them to teach they must know Gods word and they do.

“Then the devil led Jesus to the holy city of Jerusalem and put him on a high place at the edge of the Temple area. He said to Jesus, “If you are the Son of God, jump off, because the Scriptures say, ‘God will command his angels to help you, and their hands will catch you, so that you will not hit your foot on a rock.’” Psalm 91:11-12”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭4:5-6‬ ‭

If anyone has read about the Jesuits you might find a present day correlation. Their entire mission is to infiltrate and destroy.

I have also heard about witches and warlocks visiting churches so they can sit there and attempt to cast spells against the church. They would not necessarily stick out. Probably look like common people.

In order to spread false teaching you have to teach which is obvious, so a goal of the false teacher would probably be to end up with some sort of professional looking degree from a religious institution that they could use to gain entry into the church. If they can be a pastor all the better.

So how do you know who they are? Know what the Bible says and look at what they teach. Sometimes the attack isn't necessarily counter to scripture, it has more to do with what they DON'T say or preach. If they pass over and/or evade important scriptural teaching ask why. A good teacher will teach ALL of the Bible.

Know what the Bible says

I agree this is the best weapon against false teaching and a weapon so many don’t have. I was speaking to an elder a few months ago. She is old enough to be my grandmother and she was in church before I was born.

In our discussion I said homosexuality is wrong and she said were does it say that in the Bible. I was flabbergasted.

So many only listen to Sunday service and don’t read on their own so they only know what is preached, and as we know many churches will face disciplinary actions for preaching against homosexuality.

I agree with the rest of your post too.

Check out the OP on "FUTURISM". See where they are 'taught' and indoctrinated. Then read about Augustine and check out those faulty doctrines from the RCC.

Many do not realize how badly they have been misled. It takes time and study and do not omit church history either.

When you find out some of this, you will have a possible lonely life. Many will say, like on here, "Well millions of people disagree with you..."

This brings up two categories for me. The truly wicked  and the ignorant. If you find a church that teaches same sex sex is ok RUN as fast as you can from it.

There is a dilemma here. New Christians don't know what they don't know. Without the proper guidance they have no idea. I would like to think the Spirit of God guides them, after awhile something just feels 'off' about it and hopefully they dig deeper for themselves. Those older in the Lord really have no excuse for not knowing better.

There appear to be exceptions to that above rule because many well intentioned seminary trained pastors simply interpret the Bible based on their seminary training and NEVER seem to question any of it, have no issues standing in front of 300 people and proclaiming it as truth. Are they ignoring the Spirit?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
