How were Moses and the Elders able to see and eat with the God of Israel?

but it's interesting that they comment that God didn't do anything to them....    they sound like they would have expected it and that would not have been the result of just seeing his feet or footstool.    And Moses saw his back early on....       but the comment from Jesus was very plain that no one had seen the Father and in the comment about except he who came from him leads me to believe that the Father has not been here at all.   Jesus himself has represented the trinity from the beginning, including creation.   And it make a lot of things all fit together nicely.

Yes. Thus, my personal long time statement; "I never put God in a box.  He can do what ever He wants, any time He wants, and in any way He wants."  This pertains to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. 

I also love in this Exodus 24 scripture there is a disclaimer; "And though these nobles of Israel gazed upon God, he did not destroy them." He was giving them a pass this time!

Moses and friends saw the God of Israel and were not harmed.
Jesus says that no man has seen the father except He that came from
Him.
So it seems to me that the Father that Jesus speaks of is not what that
the Nation of Israel interfaced with in the Old Testament.

It seems to me to be saying that Jesus was what the Nation of Israel
interfaced with in the Old Testament days. Jesus in this form was with
the Father from the beginning.
It seems to me that the people of the Old Testament days were not aware
of the Father except for what they saw through the Jesus in the form he
existed in before he became flesh.

It appears to me that Jesus as the word was that which the Father
worked through to manifest Himself to the people of the Old Testament
times. Jesus did not regard himself to want to be the equal to the
Father so He took the form of a human to further the works of the
Father on earth.
Jesus was deity by being in the form of God, but it was the Father that
did the work through Him when he was the Word. It appears that the only
thing that has changed is Jesus is now flesh working the same way only
as a man. The Father exercises His will through Jesus, now in the
fleshly body.

It seems to me that Jesus just extended the conduit from Him to us for
the Father to do His work through Jesus to us so we could know the
Father as the Father knows us. Thus we now can do the work of the
Father. I believe this is the path and workings of the Holy Spirit

Jesus, before His ascension told the Apostles that all power and
authority had been given to Him. After he has subdued everything Jesus
will also be subjected to the One who subjected all things to
Him........ The Father.
I don't see the Son always being equal with the Father, either when He
was the word nor in the flesh. He will also be subject to the Father
after He does the job of bringing the kingdom into it's full power over
all and giving it to the Father.

But to us, there is but one God, The Father of whom all things
came from......
And one Lord, Jesus whom we call the Christ, through which all things
came including us.
And we have the Holy Spirit which was sent to us from the Father at the
request of Jesus.
Interestingly, all three are one in thought, one in purpose, and one in
action. We can't interface with the Father without being indwelt by
the Holy Spirit, and we can't have the Holy Spirit without the
sacrifice and request of Jesus, and we couldn't have had Jesus without
the Father asking Him to do what he has done for us.
You have to have all three or none. And thus they are one.

It was not the Father that they were eating with, it was Jesus/Yahweh.    So no man has ever seen the Father except for the one who came from him....   Yahweh/Jesus.

The visible image of the invisible God. Jesus is the only part of God we will ever see 

in the conventional way.

Job 19:26 speaks of seeing God in the flesh after his death... maybe we will be able to see God entirely once we are resurrected.

Greek, horao, meaning here to comprehend fully or understand with the mind; to see truth fully. It is used in this sense in many places (John 8:38; 14:9; 15:24; 1 John 3:6). 

Greek, horato, like our English seen, means to see with the eyes and also see with the mind. That it means here to comprehend fully or understand is clear from the fact that many men have seen God with the eyes (Gen. 18:2, 33; 32:24-30; Ex. 24:10; 33:11; Josh. 5:13; Isa. 6; Ez. 1:26-28; Dan. 7:9-14; 10:5-6; Acts 7:56-59; Rev. 4:2-5; 5:1-7).
