How does a "soul" (Gen. 2-7) relate to "His image" (Gen. 1:26 -27)?

Sounds good:) ...let’s go back again...

God "breathed" into Adam's nostrils the "breath of life.”

Note: The word translated "breathed" is naphach, which means to "inflate" as in He inflated Adam's lungs.
But the word translated "breath" is neshamah, which means
"divine inspiration,” “ intellect,” “soul” or “spirit.”

So God not only inflated Adam's lungs with "air,” but God placed in him his "breath of life body, his spiritual body.

I hear you say, Charlie, that when Adam sinned, God removed his spirit.  I still don’t believe that part, but perhaps God removed something else that Adam had; perhaps maybe some of his intellect or divine inspiration?  Maybe God removed Adam’s memory of certain things?

Thank you for responding! For me, since God can only impart anything from within Him MUST be Holy, and Adam sinned... these two things can never coexist together! It had to be something that permeated Adam not just a “feature” of Adam’s. Once this Spirit was removed from Adam he could no longer be in God’s presence- he would be destroyed by His brightness! That is why he had to leave the Garden.

Adam never lost any of his body or his spirit (mind, intellect, all his software). He lost the only thing God imparted into him when He created him.. No other creature was created by God breathing into them- when we accept the Holy Spirit at Pentecost we are symbolically telling God we believe He died for our sins and allow the HS to come into us. This is what the whole “restoration” process is about- to be once again have His spirit back into us so we are able to be with Him again. At the resurrection God will again impart the same spirit into us that He gave to Adam! Those that rejected Him will be resurrected but they do not have the spirit of Pentecost within them and God’ Presence and brightness will destroy those who could not possibly survive His Holiness.

Just my thoughts, Charlie

So then Adam lived his 900+ years spirit-less?  Just a flesh body walkin’ around, carrying on God’s plan?  Why did God form this (very) special man to begin with?  Because it would be through this man, 'eth ha adham, that the Messiah, who is God Himself, our Lord and Savior,Jesus Christ, would be born.  It was God's plan from the very beginning to come to earth Himself to provide a way for all of mankind to be saved whereby we receive that beautiful Holy Spirit.

If I understand your question correctly, God specifically wanted to create a being "in His image" in a brand new world / universe that had never existed. This being would have His spirit breathed into him - he would have a special and unique relationship with God. The angels were not made "in His image" and I believe this is the reason why satan hated humans - they would be a "living soul" meaning God placed part of Him into this creation..... satan / angels were just a spirit to serve God in any capacity he desired.  They would never be "sons" or "brothers" or part of God's family.... they would never be more than what they were created to be.....

This jealous angel called satan could not see himself as being in second to anyone -and sought to corrupt this new creation by getting him to disobey God.... he knew God could not be in the presence of anything unholy...... and by sinning, Adam would lose this "spirit" imparted within him by God.

Adam and Eve had to leave His presence from the Garden and now God had to design a plan to restore these special creation.... by getting that "spirit" back into him ..... and this can only be accomplished by the Cross and Pentecost.

How could our Father use Adam without a spirit?

Not sure I understand your question as I need to...... God didn't use Adam but He had to remove him from His presence..... now mankind would live in this new world / universe without His spirit in him...... we have been living on this planet without God's spirit until His Plan provided  for us a way to get it back = Cross and Pentecost.

Don't know if this answered your question but we can continue on ..... obviously I do not have the answers, but I can offer what I believe this whole thing is about... Get back to the Garden with God.

What spirit?  The “breath of life” spirit?  The one which was defined a few posts back?
—electlady

Yes, there is only one spirit that God breathed into Adam - His spirit which allowed Adam to be in His presence in the Garden.

When we accept Jesus and His resurrection and accept the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we are telling God we want to accept that Jesus paid for our sins and we also want you to send the Holy Spirit (THE Holy Spirit) into our lives and change us to live and obey God during the rest of our lives  the way He wants us to.....

At our resurrection, God will send His angels to look for those that have the seal of God - meaning those that have accepted Jesus and brought the Holy Spirit into our lives.... We will be gathered with God and take on the form like Jesus (not exactly like Jesus because He is God) but once again we will be "in His image". Charlie

If you do not mind I might suggest you do not bring it all in at one time..... let it sit with you for a little while and come back to it with your questions...... there  is alot there ....

The key is to determine what part you might agree with and those parts you are just not accepting or seeing .... or the parts your are seeing clearly but do not like....

Take your time.... don't pressure yourself.... this whole thing is about exchanging ideas and interpretations..... not trying to prove who is right or wrong.... and to come to YOUR own understanding and interpretation.

I hate to say this but there are some who must be right...... there is nothing wrong with having a strong opinion and believing it but... that is as far as it should go....

We will see what the scriptures say and what Abraham said or what you bring into the scriptures after you have read some books or you have heard the same from some reputable authority and bow down without seeking reasonable express references from scripture.

In sort a lot it is said, but can it be established from what it is in the scriptures?

You can think what you wish, but you won't prove these points made wrong ever.

Please be my guest.

I look forward to it!

Please be my guest.

I look forward to it!

My post it was intended to you in the way you perceived it.

It was for those who published those things and who do not provide any kind of reaonable proof.

They do not follow the example of Jesus who knowing the deep thoughts of man's mind he left no stones unturned.

He left us a legacy, he did something to put at rest not only the mind of Philip but also the mind of the other disciples who had accepted that he was him by faith alone.

Jesus Christ understood that on a later day they will be disturbed about that matter, and he invited everyone to fell his body and his would as to see that he was not just in his soul.

And they feel his would and his body as proof that he was not in his soul but he was in his body. That indeed he was raised from the dead.

And he was in his body, as to silence rumours to contrary and the rumor that someone had stolen his body.

Jesus is still in his body and he will always be.

What is the proof that you have to offer when you claim that Jesus Christ was all those people, which I am going to examine with you all of them one by one.

How can you sow cause that you are not misled.

You are called to sow something that is beyond a blind faith of a acceptance.

I am not giving you my blind faith in this matter, this is my point. You are called to sow cause for your position in this matter and I will test your reasons, I will question the ground you stand on this matter?

I believe your position in the matter at hand is not possible to be. No matter you throw the dice , it cannot be, no matter what.

Let's start, please

***sow reasonable proof for Melhisedec.

Seems it is the act of 'breathing' and

'The spirit of Adam' is what God breathed into Adam.  We are His creation, not Him recreating Himself.  The only one who is is Jesus.  IMHO.

Please tell me or direct me to why you conclude that angels are not made in His image.

I don't think that Satan hates humans I think Satan hates God and the way to hurt Him is to take what should be worshipping Him and get them to worship him instead.

Satan was created a cherub.

Job 38:3 Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

Job 38:4 Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

Job 38:5 Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

Job 38:6 Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

DO YOU understand what is so very TELLING about this?  There is no 'DUST OF THE EARTH YET' in which 'man' to be formed YET all the sons of God are there.

What was breathed into that dirt soon to be ADAM?  ADAM.

1Samuel 29:8 And David said unto Achish, But what have I done? and what hast thou found in thy servant so long as I have been with thee unto this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

1Samuel 29:9 And Achish answered and said to David, I know that thou art good in my sight, as an angel of God: notwithstanding the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

They discern good and bad
2 Samuel 14:17 Then thine handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore the LORD thy God will be with thee.

They are compared to the wise
2Samuel 14:20 To fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.

What does this say to you?
Zechariah 12:8 In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them.

What about the angel of God?

Genesis 21:17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.

Malachi 3:1 Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Malachi 3:2 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap:

Malachi 3:3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Malachi 3:4 Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in former years.

Malachi 3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Malachi 3:7 Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?

Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.

Malachi 3:9 Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Where do you suppose 'all the host' of the earth is being held?

We know there are good angels and fallen angels.
What makes an angel 'fallen' anyhow.

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jude 1:5 I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.

Jude 1:6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.

Jude 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
