I am always trying to find a “formula” to keep me happy and safe. How about this one:

1. Have faith. (John 14:27)

2. Enjoy the glory God gives to all repentant sinners. (Matthew 4:17)

3. Pray constantly. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)

@johnthebaptist

My formula started with building a foundation of Godly Conversion, ONE LORD, ONE FAITH, ONE BAPTISM, and everything has grown perfectly from there with the right understanding to build on.

Love everyone with GODLY LOVE - God, your neighbors, those who hate you, those who persecute you, those who would kill you.

Find peace with all men, as much as it is possible.

Don't worry. Put your life and all your situations in God's hands and He will care for it all.

Seek out and love the lost.

Be kind, loving and caring and be a source of empathy for everyone hurting that comes in your life.

Listen to people who are lonely and need an ear with a caring heart.

Everything in Christ comes to us as a result of our choices, and God's plan for us.

#1 should be "exercise" faith. Met many who have said they have faith and were not happy... until they began to exercise the faith and then they never were afraid and had peace in the midst of troubles.

Here's my formula: J + E + S + U + S = JOY

Jas 1:2-4  Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations,  (3)  knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.  (4)  Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

A formula? There is only one "formula" for those who belong to Jesus Christ, and it's this: walk in His Spirit. Safety is an illusion, comfort is a delusion, and our walk with the Lord is not measured by a rubric familiar to this flesh. The world is ironically obsessed with comfort and safety but we were told that we enter the kingdom through much tribulation.

As a brother whom I'm rather fond of has shared with us before, "well done" is better than well said. I wholeheartedly agree, and we "do" by walking in the Spirit of the Lord. Peace arrives in the midst of the storm, not through studiously avoiding bad weather. :)

Many Christians do have a daily routine that involves something called their "quiet time". In one particular denominational fellowship I became associated with this practice was promoted to the extreme so that missing your "quiet time" was deemed backsliding and all manner of torments, trials, and tribulations were guaranteed as a result. I regarded this extreme as superstitious, preferring to avoid such religious legalism in favour of constant access to the grace of God, whether in Bible reading and study, instant prayers and intercessions as prompted by the Holy Spirit, or blessed thought streams of spontaneous praise and worship.

I've heard of that before though I wasn't involved with such practices. A very long time ago, the fellowship I was a part of started sliding toward extremes but this didn't fully manifest until I was long gone. I learned about what unfolded in the years following my departure from an old friend whom the Lord brought back into my life. It was sobering.

Hence walking in His Spirit is the "formula" if doing so can be referred to such a way. Jesus Christ is the Life, not ritual nor observances. All manner of extremes present themselves before us, traps to snare the unwary, with comfort and safety being chief among many. The Lord does indeed test us and there is solid scriptural precedent testifying of this truth, my friend. Remember who told us that we enter the kingdom through much tribulation.

I'm accustomed to being sent into the storm, places most people would rather avoid. Who wants to walk among despair and suffering? Certainly not me, but it's my place to walk in His Spirit and so this is where He sends me. Peace is given by the Lord when we offer ourselves as a living sacrifice, occupying ourselves with serving His kingdom without end. There are many ways in which we do this, but all that matters is what He intends for us to do. Walk in His Spirit. :)

Thanks John, I like it.

I have always liked,
'Trust and obey.'

and God's formula,
O.T.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God, and keep his commandments:
for this is the whole duty of man.
Ecclesiastes 12:13  (not everybody likes that one :))

N.T.
Love the Lord,
love your neighbor.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
