New European anti-terror chief a trusted EU hand

Dutch liberal politician Gijs de Vries, who was named the European Union's new "anti-terror coordinator" Thursday, is known in Brussels as a safe pair of hands.

Born in New York, De Vries spent most of his political career in the European Parliament before becoming the Dutch envoy to the convention for an EU constitution.

The EU's "Mr Terrorism," as some are already calling him, will be charged with setting up a system for member states' intelligence services to exchange information, under the supervision of EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana.

"We will invite him to improve our internal coordination from the point of view of exchange of information including intelligence, while also cooperating with third countries," Solana said.

Solana said that while the EU worked well with countries such as the United States and Canada, there was much room for improvement with much of the rest of the world.

"I am thinking for example of the countries of the Mediterranean, with whom we have very deep relations but we don't have a relationship of cooperation against terrorism in some aspects which are important."

De Fries, 48, served as a liberal member of the European parliament from 1984 to 1998 and is considered hugely knowledgeable on EU institutions.

In 1998, after "growing tired of Brussels," as he told Dutch media, De Vries accepted the post of deputy interior minister in the second Labour-Liberal government of former Prime Minister Wim Kok until July 2002.

In the post, De Vries gained experience in working with the police and intelligence services in the Netherlands.

He was notably assigned to coordinate emergency response and introduced a single national communication system for police, fire department, ambulance services and military police.

After the Kok cabinet stepped down, De Vries took his seat in the Dutch parliament during the short-lived first government of Christian Democrat Jan Peter Balkenende from May to October 2002.

Respected for his EU experience, De Vries was asked to represent the Netherlands at the convention developing a constitution for the bloc in September 2002.

De Vries, who is married, holds a degree in political science from the Dutch university in Leiden and did post-graduate work in Florence.

He counts music, skiing and bird watching among his hobbies.

Solana said that De Vries would start work next Monday.

That's a good question sis'. Whatever is being put together though , I'm not the one doing it. But I am watching very closely. I think it's a little too early to tell. This new man hasn't even started his new job yet, but that will change Monday. All we can do at this point is keep watching and praying. Stay tuned! :suspect:

Solana's Global War

What's the word I'm looking for? In a recent article published in the Financial Times, the EU's High Representative, Javier Solana, sounded almost ... well ...

As you may know, yesterday the EU heads presented Solana with a breathtaking array of new powers to fight the war against terrorism. And in addition to these new powers, Solana got a terror tsar, Gijs de Vries, to help him use them.

On the same day the Financial Times published Solana's article. In it Solana listed three key ways the EU should fight the war against terrorism. First, Solana said the EU should beef up its existing co-operation between member states. Second, the EU must tackle the underlying causes of terrorism globally. But, it was the last paragraph that struck me. It didn't sound like it was coming from just an EU official. It sounded more like it was coming from a head of stated leading his people into a war. Here is what Solana said:

Europeans know the fight against terrorism will not be easily won. There will be many silent successes but there will also be setbacks. Our successes must not breed complacency, just as our setbacks must not provoke despair. We must harness all our energies to fight for the rule of law, within the rule of law. Terrorism attacks the values on which the European Union is founded. It will be overcome by adherence to those same values.

Here Solana sounds almost ... well ... that's it!

Wow~

It's a little curious.......you hear almost nothing of Solana, to almost nothing from Solana......then hello!!!!!~ He's making public speaches to all the Europeans on behalf of the Europeans and he's giving a pep talk and a "do not despair, my people" speech. WOW! That happened rather quickly and smoothly. It makes me wonder what will happen next to point everyone in his direction........for his direction and guidance....so to speak????!!! As I write, I wonder how many of my readers really understand the implications of the recent events in Europe, or the seriousness of the hour.

For me, it is a bitter sweet moment. I didn't want to be right about what I speculated in my book, but I didn't want to be wrong either. Now as trans-European powers are being concentrated into the office of High Representative, it looks like I was right -- this may become the office the foretold Antichrist will hold.

It all began in the early nineties when I saw a report in the Los Angeles Times about a 10 nation military alliance in Europe. At the time it really only had nine full member states, but Greece was scheduled to become a full member in 1995.

Why didn't the leading prophecy experts see it? Tim Lahaye, for one, was beginning to write his left behind books. This is what I think. Since the 10 nation alliance hadn't appeared in Western Europe as all the old prophecy scholars expected, he looked for another scenario. This led him to adopt the Club of Rome's idea about 10 global regions.

How about Hal Lindsey? This is my big question too. Hal does sometimes mention the 10 nations. However, I can tell by his commentaries he a doesn't quite understand what's going on in Europe. He keeps getting the facts twisted around.

Nevertheless, that 10 nation alliance we older students of prophecy were all once waiting for showed up on January 1, 1995. By the end of 1999, a new office and a new political leader had appeared among them, the EU's first High Representative of Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana.

The following year, the 10 nation alliance was installed as the EU's military wing, and this prophetically historic event was associated with the number 666. In December of 2000, I discovered the document the EU heads were implementing when they made the WEU their military wing was the WEU's Assembly Recommendation 666.

After finishing my book, my wife asked what we should expect to see next if I was right. I said we should expect to see three kings out of this 10 nation alliance somehow subdued. As you know, this month we saw the pro-American government in Spain brought down by well-timed bombings in Madrid. Like Spain, Britain and Italy are members of the 10 nation alliance.

If all this isn't enough to alert us, now we learn the heads of many European nations have presented this new office of High Representative with extraordinary, trans-European powers. Not only that, but the holder of this office has been given a mandate to fight a global war against terror.

More often than not, I agree with Herb, but not always. He started watching the WEU before I did, way back when he noticed that 10 nations were formed to be the military wing of the EU. I started watching when Solana thought to change the set times, as per Daniel 7:25. As we know, scripture has it that 10 horns would rise, and then another, a little one would rise up among these ten horns and subdue three of them. I believe the "little horn" means that he will be less than a king, but he will rise to become more powerful than all ten kings, as he will become their leader.

I agree with most of Herb's commentary that I posted above, that is, all except this paragraph:

I believe he may be jumping the gun here. You see, If Solana is the little horn, then Spain isn't being subdued by the little horn. The leadership in Spain has changed hands as a direct result of the bombing of the train by the terrorists, not by the little horn. So I believe the subduing of the three horns is still to come in the near future.

But Herb is a true watcher, and I know that he will soon notice his brief oversight, and he will adjust his way of thinking. Stay tuned!

Rollin, I noticed that Herb said "somehow subdued" inferring, in my mind at least, that Solana/Little horn may not have a direct hand in the subjugation but that events may transpire to pave the way for little horn...my only difference would be in the choice of Italy as the third. I don't think Italy is powerful enough politically to be much of a threat to little horn, however French Leader Chirac may be an "opposing" power focus that needs to be eliminated for little horn to increase his power base to the point were he is able to take control for them.

As I have said elsewhere I am new to this and could be completely off base...what do you think?

I noticed also, that Herb said "somehow subdued". Remember friends in Christ, that there is a lot going on behind the scenes politically that we just may not know! (Wouldn't that be a shocker for any government!?! ) Anyway~ you never know who was truly the one or ones behind the bombings in Madrid...even if reports point to Al Quida....everyone has there own interests at heart when it comes to the world and the prince of this world! So.......we will watch...but more inportantly watch the skies for our Lord!!!!~ The time is near and Christians are to be rising up and declaring truth and working in what God has called us to do!!!!! He has been quickening the hearts and Holy Spirit inside many believers I know, that there is yet another great evangelistic time, or event coming that will allow more evangilism (kinda like, it will worse in the world before it gets better!) before the coming of our Lord!!!
