I had a couple of questions pertaining to: John 14:2 (KJV) In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

I could not find the answers I was looking for in any of my commentaries. So, I reached out and asked my questions to a well-known Bible expert and host of a program. His response surprised me. I had not even thought about that possibility about our new mansions. Ever heard of this thought, and what do you think?

Quote: What I was after in my original reply was that there might be some other line of thinking in regards to the "room" that Jesus mentions in John 14:1-3. Too often we get stuck on the KJV or NKJV translation "mansions." That really is a poor translation for our contemporary audience. If we skip the KJV and go straight to the Greek, we see that the word is "dwelling places."

I brought up 2 Cor 5 because Paul is discussing his new glorified body or "dwelling places" (not made with hands which is eternal in the heavens). Paul was alive at the time, but was talking about his new glorified body (building) already existing in the heavens!

We might ask, "What do you mean, Paul? How is your new eternal body existing right now in the heavens?"

I think the answer would be when Jesus said He was going to prepare a "dwelling for us" (John 14:2-3), He was really referencing not a mansion, but He was going to heaven to prepare our NEW BODIES for us so that when He returns at the rapture/resurrection, we will get those new bodies in which we will dwell and live forever.

We can show this further because 2 Cor 5:1-2 is showing a contrast between our earthly tent (current weak body) and the new building (eternal) .... where? In the heavens!

Something to at least ponder. :)

Blessings to you!

Or, it can be viewed from the Hebrew perspective and the Hebrew betrothment period. As often the bridegroom would go back to his "father's house" or property and prepare a room or place for his future bride. When the father was happy and approved of the new room or dwelling then he would allow the son to go and take his bride to be.

Don't you just love understanding the Bible and idiomatic expressions through the original culture and language it was written in. As they were Hebrews and they all would of understood exactly what Yeshua was referring to and why. No one knows the day or hour except the Father.

Halleluyah!!!

Shalom

The Bible is clear- what will be there is not comparable to here ... so when we try to make it such we are just spinning our wheels and ignoring Scripture...

Yet the KJV is the translation that God uses. If He can work through the KJV then how much more is He able to do a work in us and through us. God confused language at the tower of Babel but we still have the Ancient Hebrew Language in our Old Testament. Still God is able to work through the Greek. Even though this is a confused language.

Paul will not receive his glorified body until the resurrection. There will be a new heaven and a new earth and we will receive our new body at that time. This is why Paul says that when we die we sleep. The body sleeps. Our soul goes to Heaven to be with Jesus.

The night before Jesus was crucified, He told His disciples that He would be leaving them and that they could not go with Him (John 13:33). Peter asked where He was going and why they couldn’t go with Him, and Jesus assured them that they would follow Him eventually (John 13:36-37). Jesus said, "In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also" (John 14:2-3).

This saying of Jesus has confused many because of the King James Version’s rendering of the words “house” and “mansions.” The Greek word translated “house” means “an abode,” literally or figuratively, and, by implication, “a family.” The word translated “mansions” or “rooms” means literally “the act of staying or residing.” So, putting the Greek together, Jesus is saying that in God’s home (heaven) there will be many people in the family of God all abiding together. Within God’s heavenly house, Christians will live in the presence of the Lord. This is quite different from the idea of rows of mansions on streets of gold, which is the image many people have of what Jesus was saying.

Jesus Christ prepares a place in heaven for His own, those who have come to Him in faith, and the Holy Spirit prepares the redeemed on earth for their place in heaven. Revelation 7:9 tells us that there will be a "great multitude in heaven that no one could number" all standing before the throne. Here, again, the imagery is of multitudes together, not living separately in different mansions.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
