No Suzanne, it's not just you. I have made myself clear on a differnet thread about movie makers dabbling with our Almighty God and blaspheming His name to make $$$$. I would be very surprised if anyone, who after seeing this type of entertainment would be drawn to seek the Lord for redemption. However that's only IMO.

But isn't that called compromising the portrayal of the character of God? I guess that's what troubles me. We've come to think that if we can just find "something" redeeming about something that is on the verge of blasphemous towards God, then that somehow makes it ok?

No, I completely understand what you are saying.

It's just that, well - I'll put it this way. When I first heard of Jesus Christ Superstar and heard about how He was portrayed and how the play does not include His resurrection, I was steaming mad. I hate that play! But then I heard the testimony of someone who actually got saved from being involved in a production of the play. :hmmm:

So, this is why I am allowing the measure of lenience having heard this review. I mean, you never know what God will do with something that has His name attached to it!

We spend time deciding what everyone should be doing instead of praying that in the thing God brings a message to the watchers. God does not fit into the tidy little box of what we think is right and wrong. Read Ezekiel chapter four, he told Ezekiel to cook on human excrement, Ezekiel was mortified so God relented and said ok use cow dung. Now imagine us here today, watching as some old guy cooked on cow dung and then proceeded to give a message from God. Would we be able to overcome our desire to judge him by the way he cooked his meal to be able to hear the message he preached. Ezekiel was doing all kinds of strange things and in our christian society today he would not be effective simply because we would have discounted him entirely by the strange things he was doing. God can and does use the bad to bring about His own purposes. It's like the movie the Matrix, there are alot of messages in that movie, but many have wrote it off because a cult like atmosphere has sprung up around it. Our young people are watching these things, so the best defense is to be informed and ready with the Word. Ezekiels wife was taken from him and he was told not to mourn, after he delivered a message from the Lord that He would destroy them and not mourn. Now a days we would say why would we listen to that guy, he certainly was not acting like a christian when his wife died, how could he possibly know the same God I know and act like that? In all that we do we should always remember that Christ said let him who has not sinned cast the first stone. Be informed, be ready with the Word, and search out the scriptures to find a way to apply all in this world to it. I have not seen the movie, nor do I watch enough TV to have seen the trailers, but I can imagine using it to point out mans selfish sin nature. It also opens up conversations about God and what would you do if you were given the powers of the Almighty. The generation behind me appears to more interested in the spiritual then I have ever seen before. It is up to us those of us that know the true Spirit of Grace to help point them in the right direction with whatever is at our disposal. I will watch the movie I think just to see what the other side is up to, I have no fear of it as I have the armor of God and He will show me what to do with the information gathered there.

Yes, in this you are right. Especially towards those of His who are disobedient. That's exactly what He does.

It's not legalism to denounce this movie as blaspheming God. Even if there is a truth or two in it doesn't make it worthy of viewing. I'm sure there are some atheists that have some basic beliefs as I, such as believing it is wrong to murder. However, just because we share that one belief doesn't mean I should denounce God and join forces with them.

Having said this, I know there are a few Christian people that go to most of the modern movies so as to rate them with a Christian rating system. I don't envy that job in one way, especially with all the filth that is out there today.

As for the person that could be reached by a line in this movie, that same person will likely be seeking prior to watching the movie. The Holy Spirit most certainly draws God's sheep to the pasture whether they heard the Gospel outlined or not. He will draw them to Jesus in His own perfect way.

Has anyone ever thought, "I've seen too much in this life..."?

I feel, especially having worked in High Schools and with juvenile delinquents, that I've seen just about everything - more than I care to.

Before I met the Lord, I didn't realize all the junk I was putting in my brain.

I believe the scriptures tell us to fill ourselves up with all that is good, all that is pure, all that is holy, all that is praiseworthy, all that is noble...etc.

I want my mind to focus on what is good and right in God's sight. As I said before, I've already seen too muchgarbage! For me, it's time for a change. Hollywood's got nothing worth my money.

Hey thanks Gary. You are right. My heckles stand up when anyone mocks or blasphemes any part of the Triunity of the Godhead. I believe that it matters not where you are, whether it be at a dance in the middle of a ball game or in the shower, if your heart is right,it is the power of the Holy Spirit that will convict you and cause you to humble yourself before the Lord and seek His forgiveness and cosequent salvation. I dont think God would even condone some of the junk that is spat out of hollywood, let alone use it as a tool for spreading His gospel message. Some people will use any excuse to go and watch some of the garbage produced be secular film makers at the expense of mocking christianity. Just my thoughts,,,,eric

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
