What are you doing amid so much injustice? Watching everything as a spectator or making difference wherever you go (read Ps 15:1-3)? 

•    Amo 5:7 -> “O you who turn justice to wormwood and cast down righteousness to the earth!”.
•    Amo 5:10-13 -> “They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks the truth. Therefore because you trample on the poor and you exact taxes of grain from him, you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine. For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins— you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and turn aside the needy in the gate. Therefore he who is prudent will keep silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.”.

Let’s analyze the sins of Israel shown in this chapter and see how this is common nowadays:

•    turn justice to wormwood -> how difficult is for someone receiving what belongs to them. Most of the judges and police only care about money. Regretfully, they don’t believe in the Holy Scripture:

o    Pro 17:15  -> “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the LORD.”.

Therefore, when someone is victim of some scam, thievery, etc., hard ever they will procure what belongs to them.

•    cast down righteousness to the earth -> we can see this, chiefly, in the sexual area. More and more the immorality has been considered normal, beyond being abetted on media;

•    hate him who reproves in the gate -> and if someone tries to say the opposite, this one is mocked, disdained, ostracized and, even, dead. Hence Amos said:

o    Amo 5:13 -> “Therefore he who is prudent will keep silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.”.

You can question: “but Jesus said: “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” (Mar 16:15)”. Yeah, but He also said:

o    Mat 10:11 -> “And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart.”.

Even Jesus was discreet. See that, although there was several infirm in the pool of Bethesda (John 5:1-3), Jesus only healed one. Of course, He never refused someone who went to Him (John 6:37). However, He had a specific public to evangelize (Mat 10:6; 15:24). What Jesus enjoined us in Mark 16:15 is that we don’t make distinction between people and people, but preach the gospel to everyone that comes to us or that is worthy (regardless their appearance, financial status, etc.).

•    abhor him who speaks the truth -> As Paul foretold:

o    2Ti 4:3,4 -> “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”;

•    trample on the poor and exact taxes of grain from him -> even in the Church, regrettably, this takes place:

o    Jas 2:1-3 -> “My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,”.

•    afflict the righteous -> try to buy off the righteous and, if they don’t give in, they are killed. Hence Paul said:

o    2Ti 3:12 -> “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted”.

•    take a bribe -> not only the judge, but most of the people, directly, or indirectly, let themselves be bribed in exchange of favors;

•    turn aside the needy in the gate. The needy (chiefly the beggars, homeless), are treated as garbage.

So, have a good day abiding by the following verse, but always with prudence and simplicity (Mat 10:16) and above all: outright directed by the Holy Spirit:

•    Pro 31:8-9 -> “Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.”.

After all, you can open your mouth with Jesus’ wisdom and be used by Him to make wonders in the life of the needy without confront the wicked.
