What is the 'New Covenant'?

Did Jesus fulfill the law?  NO.  Laws are obeyed, not fulfilled. 

Prophecies are fulfilled.  

Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Matthew 5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

 

Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning Me.

Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Luke 24:46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day

Luke 24:47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.


 

It isn't about following the law perfectly or not,  it's about GETTING YOUR PERSON RIGHT so that you do not BURN UP when GOD looks at you on the day of Judgment and that is done through following the law.

THE LAW was glorious.  STILL IS, especially if you want to KNOW WHO GOD IS AND WHAT IS REQUIRED TO NOT BE KINDLING before THE CONSUMING FIRE. SURE, we can come by 'faith' and love but if we don't take the time to know HIS WAYS....

GOD is saying I am OFFERING eternal life UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.  Those circumstances can't change as GOD IS GOD.  So GOD out of LOVE for us, gives us laws so that WE CAN BECOME WHO WE NEED TO BE BEFORE WE ARE TO 'meet' Him in person.  IF we study and APPLY WHAT HE SAYS NEEDS TO BE APPLIED, when we approach Him our 'refining' doesn't leave us as stubble but as someone HE CAN USE to fulfill His plans for our salvation. 

OLD was given because people didn't know how to rule themselves.  Didn't know how to worship God.  Didn't understand how bad sin was FOR THEM when trying to approach the Father.  It cuts us off.  That is why forgiveness is so important.  

God tried to show through the physical what it was all about.  It was hard to do and it didn't have the effect of bringing them to LOVE the ways of the Lord.  It PERFECTLY SHOWED what are the 'details' of what is happening just not the effect.  

To bring in a NEW COVENANT the old has to go.  Remember they had been SET FREE to become a nation, they lost it and now not having a Nation, land, or temple GODS LAWS had to be portable and available to the individual where ever he happened to be and it couldn't REQUIRE any rituals and so it all was to be done through the workings of the Holy Spirit  by the heart and the mind and our want to 'refine'.  Yes, God gives measure but the more you use that measure the more measure God gives so IN THE END IT IS UP TO US, yes I know goes against....

BUT here we are today and once again it's back to being ABOUT THE WORDS AND NOT THE SPIRIT OF THE WORDS.  It's about the meanings of the words and not the Truths they convey.  It's about the 'knowledge' and not the feelings.   It is about the doctrines and not about the concepts.  We are almost back where 'the Jews' were 2000 years ago.  They were tested and most of them failed.  We will be tested and most will fail again because KNOWING THE WORDS doesn't really help if the PERSON doesn't become HOLY BY THOSE WORDS.  

How many times have we heard 'we don't have to follow the laws because Jesus fulfilled it'?  MANY MANY.  BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

NOTHING GOOD IF IT ISN'T THE EXAMPLE YOU ARE ASPIRING TO BE LIKE YOURSELF.  It is again, like being under the law and not getting it.  

GOD IS A CONSUMING FIRE.  EVERY TIME WE HAVE A CHANGE OF HEART FROM THE WAYS OF THE WORLD TO A WAY OF GOD (REPENTANCE) WE WALK A LITTLE MORE HOLY.   HOLY IS REQUIRED TO NOT BE BURNT.  JUST BECAUSE JESUS ISN'T GETTING BURNT DOESN'T MEAN WE WONT IT MEANS THAT JESUS MADE IT SO WE CAN MAKE IT up to THE FIRE in a much less combustible state, IF WE FOLLOW HIS EXAMPLE.  EVERY SINGLE WORD OF GOD IS IMPORTANT TO TEACH US SO WE CAN BE the example now to bring more people to the Lord.  And we are more HAPPY while in the world because we are NOT IN THE WORLD

No wonder there will be a mass falling away.  NO ONE understands.  It isn't about the detail it's about the heart and the mind and the ways of GOD becoming OUR WAYS.  

Now that I got that off my chest I can move on to the questions at hand I think I hope, I pray.

Why would you say that? Why do you believe Jesus did not bring in the New Covenant? Have you looked at Hebrews 8? What covenant did Jesus bring? Did He send His Holy Spirit at Pentecost to write His Laws in our hearts?

I think the answer is IN the ark.  The 10 were written BY GODS HAND and put inside the ark, the other laws were put on the SIDE of the ark.  One never goes away the other does change for the times.

Jesus came for the lost sheep of the House of Israel. The 10 tribes scattered to the world who didn't know who they were anymore.  A blinding of sorts yes?    Has there or has there not been one of those sheep born in the last 2000 years?  If one has been born and didn't become a Christian and died NOT BEING SAVED then what happens to them since He doesn't lose one?  
Also, having been scattered and not knowing who they were wouldn't the very words in the bible call to them to become a Christian?  Would a Saviour being born in Zion call them?  If they don't know they are of Jacob and believe they are just of some gentile nation and their numbers were as the sands of the sea, would the 'gentile' church be made mostly of the House of Israel.?   Is that too many questions?  I say YES.  So any thoughts?

There are two parts to a covenant and God had initiated all of them where He ALWAYS fulfilled His end or requirements within each of those agreements. At NO time did anyone of those covenants have a correction or change on His side of the agreement. Since Adam it has always been faith and obedience in Him. In each covenant we (man) have ALWAYS failed to honor our side. The last and final Covenant identified through Jeremiah 31:31-33 tells us He will once again make a New Covenant with Israel where He will put His LAWS in our hearts. Notice this NC ONLY effects ONE side of Moses Covenant- the LAW side DOES NOT CHANGE ONE BIT. God will ONLY change where He will write those commandments. 
The reason it is a ‘better covenant’ and does away with the ‘old’ is NOT to do away with the Commandments but to give us His Holy Spirit that will give us the DESIRE AND WANT not to sin. The LAWS are already perfect but our ability to keep them are flawed. He will write them in our hearts and give us the ‘want’ to obey Him. 
 

By the way, Jesus did ‘fulfill’ the LAW because ‘fulfill’ means to ‘perfect’ it, not do away with it.
