I would add that the Spirit of Christ leads us into a greater self-awareness, becoming cognizant of our own shortcomings --- we examine ourselves first. We remember who and where we once were, giving thanks to the Lord that we are the work of His hand. Salvation is the gift of God.

His gift of life opens our hearts and minds so that we are merciful, not harsh; forgiving, and not vengeful.

Do not be surprised nor dismayed that the world hates Him, my friends. I expect nothing less from this world of men.

Yup.

To the central question, my observation over the years is a kind of spirit or attitude of antichrist.

Jesus is light, and makes darkness/sin more dark. This makes some more aware of their shortcomings.

Buddha does not hold that same space.

"Jesus is light, and makes darkness/sin more dark"

?? Perhaps Alive I misunderstand you, and you are not actually saying God makes darkness more dark.
Is it that "by comparison" God's perfect light causes (intensifies) the truth of darkness to be seen?

Ah ha! I reread your (total) reply....."This makes some more aware of their shortcomings"
It was the 'taking you literally' that caused misunderstanding.
Light/truth does intensifies/exposes darkness/untruth.
The older I get the more I need the lights on to see(the posts).

Quick to listen/read, slow to speak/type.

Why are Allah, Mohammad, and Buddha’s names not used in vain and flippantly in the United States and globally, or are they? Is using our Lord’s name in vain and flippantly isolated to America and the English-speaking world, or is it also global?

Only the name of Jesus has any "real" power. Why would the devil use anything else? Shalom

Philippians 2:[9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
[10] That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
[11] And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

My adult daughter, a bank manager, started using that vocabulary in conversations with us. The first ‘20’ uses of the word like in a paragraph was humorous at first; I thought she was doing a beatnik Dobbie Gillis on us. However, it continued.

Like, hahahahahah, Dobbie Gillis.  :24: (unknown, obsolete, foreign language to many)

I too have often thought of the curse words used by many especially the religious curse words.  I never thought of it being just an American way so I am anxious to hear if other languages across the globe also use these religious curse words.  My thoughts do go back to Jesus' words on the cross, "Forgive them for they do not know what they are doing!"  Very rarely will I hear a born again faithful believer ever use the Lord' name in vain.  But most of us admit we used and said many unworthy words before we were saved.  Of course this doesn't mean we cannot mess up if the hammer hits just the right spot.

Years ago I went to work for the City where I live.  One of the city council members had a terrible filthy mouth full of all kinds of cuss words.  Within the first few months I had to take him aside and tell him of my religious convictions and that the curse words were causing me anxiety and I felt it would deter our conversations and relationship in doing my job.  He respected my values and from then on did his best not to speak those words within my earshot.  We had a good working relationship from that point on.  There were a couple of times he slipped up and would say "Jesus Christ" and I would say "and He loves you!"  That got a big grin out of him!

I literally cringe when I here my Lord’s name used in a curse.

I have often told people how offensive it is and that I fear for them doing so.

Honestly, on ocassion, it angers me.

Being familiar with a few languages and cultural traditions other than my own, it all depends upon the culture/language in question.

Japanese language and culture are a great example of formality. The language itself is rigidly constrained, so if and when one encounters slang and curse words, it sticks out like a sore thumb. That's not normal nor accepted. As far as I know (I also studied this language in college), there are no "curse/swear words" to be found in that language. None.

European languages, on the other hand, are rich with curse words and unsavory epithets. Deutsch has quite a few.

P.S. Arabic and Farsi are also thick with unsavory epithets.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
