On the evening of January 19, the Pentagon confirmed the allocation of another package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of USD 2.5 billion.

This is reported by European Pravda.

According to the list, the package includes additional ammunition for the HIMARS and NASAMS systems, as well as, as previously expected, 90 Stryker infantry fighting vehicles with 20 mine rollers and 59 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles with 590 TOW anti-tank missiles and 295,000 rounds of 25 mm ammunition.

Also, the USA will transfer to Ukraine eight Avenger air defense systems, 53 mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles (MRAP), 350 high-mobility multi-purpose wheeled vehicles (HMMWV), 20,000 155-mm artillery shells; approximately 600 high-precision 155-mm artillery shells, 95,000 105-mm artillery shells and approximately 11,800 120-mm mortar mines.

In addition, the military aid package includes 12 ammunition supply vehicles, 6 command and staff vehicles, 22 tactical weapons towing vehicles, high-speed anti-radar missiles (HARM), about 2,000 anti-tank missiles, more than 3 million small arms ammunition, mine clearance equipment barriers, Claymore antipersonnel ammunition, night vision devices, spare parts and other field equipment.

As expected, the package does not include the longer-range ATACMS missiles that Ukraine has long requested, nor the Abrams tanks, on the latter the United States explain this with logistical and maintenance difficulties that may arise.

This is already the 30th military aid package allocated to Ukraine under the Presidential Drawdown Authority mechanism. We will remind you that the volume of the largest military aid packages provided by the USA for Ukraine amounted to more than USD 3 billion.

Total U.S. military aid to Kyiv since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022 thus already exceeds USD 26.7 billion.

On January 18, the Minister of Defense of Latvia, Inara Murniece, said that her country will transfer a new package of military aid to Ukraine in the near future.

On January 19, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace said that the British authorities intend to transfer 600 Brimstone missiles to Ukraine.

The Danish government also announced that it will transfer 19 French-made Caesar howitzer artillery systems to Ukraine.

A total of 11 NATO countries announced new military aid to Ukraine.

On January 20, the eighth meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine began at the Ramstein American air base in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. At the opening of the meeting in the format of a video conference, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the participants, reports The Guardian.

"We need defense and combat tanks. Every weapon is important," the President added.

Before the start of the meeting, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine told what they are expecting from the Ramstein meeting:

• More air defense systems;
• Weapons for offensive operations (tanks, howitzers, ammunition);
• Systematic supply of ammunition + service and repair of weapons and equipment.

On Saturday, January 21, units of the Russian occupation forces unsuccessfully attacked the positions of the Defense Forces in the areas of 9 cities and villages in the Luhansk and Donetsk Regions.

The relevant statement was published today, January 22, by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is reported that during the past day, the enemy's troops continued their offensive attempts in the direction of Bakhmut. And in the Lyman and Avdiyivka directions, the occupiers conducted fruitless offensive actions.

Enemy attacks were repulsed near Terny, Verkhniokamianske, Bilohorivka, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Pervomaiske, Maryinka and Peremoha settlements of the Donetsk Region.

In the Luhansk Region, the Defense Forces of Ukraine stopped the offensive of the occupiers near the village of Novoselivske and on the territory of Serebrianske Forestry (southwest of occupied Kreminna).

Over the past 24 hours, Russian forces have launched one missile and 27 airstrikes, as well as carried out at least 55 attacks using MLRS.

Along the entire front line, at least 64 settlements in Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson Regions were shelled.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that Ukraine will still receive German-made Leopard tanks, even if Germany does not give its consent to the transfer of this type of weapon. This was reported by the Polish publication DPA on Monday, January 23.

Morawiecki said that Poland will apply to Germany for permission to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine.

"We will ask for such permission, but this is a secondary issue," Morawiecki said.

According to the Prime Minister, even if Poland ultimately does not receive Berlin's approval for the transfer of tanks, it will still transfer its tanks to Ukraine.

The enemy lost 2 aircraft per day (292 in total), 1 helicopter (total - 282), 14 tanks (total - 3,175), 27 armored fighting vehicles (total - 6,334), 15 artillery systems (total - 2,169), 2 units of rocket artillery (total - 452), 19 units of vehicles and tank trucks (total - 4,986), 1 unit of special equipment (total - 195) and 6 drones (total - 1,908).

Since the beginning of the war, the enemy has also lost 220 air defense systems, 749 cruise missiles and 18 ships/boats.

Ukraine Will Receive Up To 140 Western Tanks In First Wave Of Contributions

 

In the first wave of assistance from international partners, Ukraine will receive 120-140 units of tanks of modern Western models.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba announced this during a briefing.

"In the first wave of contributions, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive from 120 to 140 units of modern tanks of Western models. These are Leopard 2, Challenger 2, M1 Abrams. And we really count on Leclerc," said Kuleba.

It is reported that currently the international tank coalition has 12 participants. The Foreign Minister noted that it is too early to name participants.

"It is too early to name all coalition countries and their practical contributions, because some of them still have to make formal decisions, in accordance with their internal procedures," he said.

The Minister added that this is a lot, but Ukraine continues to work on expanding the composition of the coalition, as well as increasing contributions by already announced participants.

"The formation of an international tank coalition is a great victory for Ukraine and Ukrainian diplomacy," Kuleba said.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the British Ministry of Defence published a video from tank exercises, showing what they are capable of and how this can help Ukraine in the war against the Russian Federation.

Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy named the key tasks of the tank coalition.
