God’s Provision

Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” 2 Kings 4:2

Three-year-old Buddy and his mom went to church each week to help unload groceries from the food ministry truck. When Buddy overheard his mom telling his grandmother that the delivery truck broke down, he said, “Oh, no. How will they do food ministry?” His mom explained that the church would have to raise money to buy a new truck.

Buddy smiled. “I have money,” he said, leaving the room. He returned with a plastic jar decorated with colorful stickers and filled with coins, which amounted to a little over $38. Though Buddy didn’t have much, God combined his sacrificial offering with gifts from others to provide a new refrigerated truck, so that the church could continue serving their community.

A small amount offered generously is always more than enough when placed in God’s hands. In 2 Kings 4, a poor widow asked the prophet Elisha for financial assistance. He told her to take inventory of her own resources, reach out to her neighbors for help, then follow his instructions (vv. 1–4).

In a miraculous display of provision, God used the widow’s small amount of oil to fill all the jars she collected from her neighbors (vv. 5–6). Elisha told her, “Sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left” (v. 7).

When we focus on what we don’t have, we risk missing out on watching God do great things with what we do have.

When has God multiplied your resources in a miraculous way? When has He used you to combine your resources with the gifts of others to meet a bigger need in your community?

Faithful Provider, please help me to be mindful and grateful as I faithfully manage and share all You’ve given me.

INSIGHT
When Elijah was taken into heaven, Elisha commenced his fifty some years of ministry (853–798 bc) as God’s prophet to the Northern Kingdom of Israel at a time when her kings were leading the Israelites into Baal idolatry (2 Kings 2:1–8:15).

Elisha performed various miracles similar to the miracles performed by his mentor, showing that he was his successor and authenticating himself as God’s prophet. In 2 Kings 4, Elisha enabled a poor widow to redeem her two sons sold into slavery with a miraculous supply of olive oil (vv. 1–7). He also raised a boy from the dead (vv. 32–37).

Both miracles, scholars suggest, anticipated Jesus’ miracles of supplying food to feed thousands (Matthew 14:15–21; 15:32–38) and raising the widow’s son and Jairus’ daughter from the dead (Luke 7:11–15; 8:49–55).

Paul gathered donation from Gentiles church to help the saints in Jerusalem. There was no Elijah flour miracle.

I told the church that they should do a congregat money saving to help its members in need but no one listens. Two females christians have sold their bodies at the brothel. Where is the pastor, the Shepherd and othes ? What can you see from this fact ?

  Blessings to you( both?)

So many times I've wanted to ask about your username, are you a couple or one or,the other or posting for you both?-Id love to know who posts all the lovely messages that you contribute....In hopes of getting to know you!

Great message, Praise the Lord! You asked when God Has Multiplied His Provisions( my resources) in a Miraculous way & to His Glory I must say- ALL the TIME!

Looking at my resources you could not deny that I have barely enough for my own needs and yet that never comes to mind whenever He Leads me to GIVE simply because everything I have, receive or acquire is HIS in the first place - I needn't take Gods Inventory,I just distribute what is His as I'm Instructed - in the end I'm never wanting.   As a matter of fact not one member of His Body should ever be,as One Body whoever has- Gives, who has not- Receives

If we live according to Gods Will & His Word then we walk by Faith and not by sight, completely trusting Him- He is Provider, we are just His Stewards

One time ,a long long time ago I had nearly $300. dollars for a bill,it was my paycheck at the time and the Lord Instructed me to give it to my church- I replied," the whole thing?!!!"Do I have to?" Lol- I thought" this cannot be God,I need confirmation" ( I did not like the idea ,& resisted a bit)So I spoke with my Pastor and he smiled- he took me into his office and showed me the final " turn off" notice for an overdue electric bill for the exact amount of my check!

That was it for me,I asked for confirmation & there it was! Now my Pastor was a wise & kind man, he said this " We can test God with His Promise, so let's and if by next week(my bill was due) you dont have they money then I'll have it by then and give it back to you... I thought,"Wow,that's a great deal"

Well, never again would I consider any deals or loans so to speak, the very next day I Received something over $500 dollars from someone wanting to pay a long forgotten debt......God Does love a cheerful giver,Ive never again hesitated or resisted because I Know my SOURCE of Provision,I Know my Father,He Loves me

I couldn't wait to tell my Pastor,he knew from the start I would not need him- I newer loan money either if I expect it back that is not being charitable

With love in Christ, Kwik

What I see is that is not like any church I've gone to

Not every church is a benevolent organization, not every church preaches the unadulterated Word of God and not every church is a place where the Body of Christ gathers,(That is THE Church,His Body- not a building)

I believe every Christian needs to do their due diligence in regards to where they go to church( if they do go to church) .Who  did you speak with? You asked " where is the Pastor?".  We wouldn't know but you should,I know where my Pastors are....

I'm sorry but instead of complaining and church bashing just offer to start that outreach program and ask your Brothers & Sisters to help.... If no one will listen then sounds like your in a wrong " church" or talking to the wrong people and maybe going about it the wrong way

There's not one church in my area that would refuse to help someone in whatever way they can or refer them to somewhere to go for help. And I'm talking about several different denominations besides the non- denominational.....

Just my 2 cents, I've gotten help & support from my church when I asked for help and my church doesn't require " membership" we are a Body of Believers,we've chipped in for many a Brother or Sister, we have a food ministry too. Many places donate food ( like Whole Foods) ,volunteers pick it up,set it up & anyone can come by after Sunday service and take whatever they want

There's a baptist church in Boca Eaton that gives a one time voucher to pay a utility bill, anyone who qualifies can get it.  The catholic church in my neighborhood gives away books of McDonalds free meals( about a dozen coupons),thats a meal a day for nearly 2 weeks!

I can go through a long list of charitable churches that do much good for all people simply because God Provides... If He is not in it then thats the biggest problem

Here's how things worked in the fellowship which the Lord sent me to after He snatched me from this world.

There were elders who owned businesses; some of us without wives or families worked for them. A carpenter took me under his wing and when it was time to do something else, I worked for a brother who was a general contractor. I did a little bit of everything in residential construction (with some commercial work on the side). The revenue we generated paid bills, put food on the table, and provided for brothers and sisters who were disabled, elderly, or who otherwise devoted themselves to caring for others at home.

When we weren't busy with jobs on the outside, we worked on improving the homes and land of brethren. We raised houses for widows (we had a few in the fellowship) and looking after elders is what I eventually focused upon to the exclusion of everything else. No matter what task we worked on, no one went hungry, unhoused, nor lacked for constructive work. There was always something to do.

I cast my paychecks into the "pool" which we used to make those things possible. What did I need beyond the Lord and work to do? I didn't worry about food or a roof over my head. No one did! As for my own lodging, I would stay with a family with room to spare. This is how the Lord blessed me beyond compare, giving me more brothers, sisters, and mothers than I could possibly visit with in one day.

It wasn't complicated. :)

Both of you hv shown good example how  christians should help each other like Paul did to help poor saints in Jerusalem, instead of hoping for  Elias oil miracle in our life.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
