Revelation 1:17-18

17 When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.

This is a discussion about an apocryphal book that talks about Jesus, Mary & Joseph. I would not bring up an apocryphal book if it was not so widely accepted by many Christians that Joseph was a widower in his old age when Jesus was born.

I was asked a DIRECT question as to what scripture I feel supports this book. We must remember the two words: omission and commission. We look at what the Bible says AND we look at what the Bible DOES NOT SAY. NO WHERE does the Bible say that Jesus brothers are Mary's Children.

In addition to this, we can go back to Moses - because Mary was named after Marian, the sister of Moses. No where are we told that Marian had a husband or children. In this regard, there is clear indication that BOTH Marian and MARY the mother of Jesus made a lifetime commitment before God to remain a virgin, Holy, Sanctified and Pure before God for their entire life. As we believe, Jesus remained a virgin all of His life. Even if He was tempted in every way, as we are. Yet Jesus was without sin. He set an example for us to follow. We cannot claim that we are too weak because we are told the grace of God gives us the strength to live they way God is calling us to live.

I like to look at what Jesus said, and I like to look at what we receive from Moses in the Torah, because NO ONE adds to what we receive from them.

Exodus 33 11

The LORD would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend."

The big story about Marian is that she got in trouble because she attack Moses on his one of his wives.

Numbers 12

Miriam and Aaron began to talk against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite. 2 “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses?” they asked. “Hasn’t he also spoken through us?” And the Lord heard this.

3 (Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.)

Numbers 12: 4 At once the Lord said to Moses, Aaron and Miriam, “Come out to the tent of meeting, all three of you.” So the three of them went out. 5 Then the Lord came down in a pillar of cloud; he stood at the entrance to the tent and summoned Aaron and Miriam. When the two of them stepped forward, 6 he said, “Listen to my words:

“When there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions,
I speak to them in dreams.
7 But this is not true of my servant Moses;
he is faithful in all my house.
8 With him I speak face to face,
    clearly and not in riddles;
he sees the form of the Lord.
Why then were you not afraid
to speak against my servant Moses?”

9 The anger of the Lord burned against them, and he left them.

Mary birthed Jesus into the world in a literal way. Women today are to birth Jesus into the world in a symbolic way. We are all to present the truth of Jesus as best as we can to a lost and a perishing world. We are to tell people they can live Holy and Pure before God all of their lives.

IF Mary had other children, then they would have the same DNA that Jesus got from Mary. He would still be in the world, and He clearly is not in the world right now.  Science and the Bible are all about our ancestors. The Bible is all about genealogies. Aunts and Uncles have an interest in Nieces and Nephews because they carry on their DNA.

You are making a lot of extensions and connections to the Biblical text.  That's okay but when I do the same to Genesis 1:1 -1:3, I get treated like a heretic.  So it goes.

Jesus teaches in  Matthew 23:12

“For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Luke 23

39One of the criminals who hung there heaped abuse on Him. “Are You not the Christ?” he said. “Save Yourself and us!”

40But the other one rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same judgment? 41We are punished justly, for we are receiving what our actions deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” 42Then he said, “Jesus, remember mej when You come into Your kingdom!”

43And Jesus said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

This is why I tell people not to judge others because they only bring condemnation on themselves when they do this.

To really understand this passage one should use a harmony of the Gospels to see the reason why this passage is recorded in all four Gospels.  Even the word Paradise has people arguing as to its meaning.  I see no reason to bring up their arguments here.

Thank you for your thoughts.  I don't recall the Church actually teaching that works are required.  Is that in the catechism?

That's the way I was taught.  I was also taught about Purgatory where people were released from Purgatory were money and prayers were needed to release people from Purgatory prison after death.  Luther spoke against these purchased indulgences and was excommunicated.

This is about the thief on the Cross...we cannot say it is about the goog one because we do not know what we should know about them to make an informed comparison.

They were Israelites...if they were Jews? Most probably.

They knew a lot of things about Jesus and the good he was doing to people...and the reasons why he was being crucified, they knew the accusations.

What one of the thieves was saying it is the same thing many people were saying...

But for the thief who was saying " if you are the Christ come d0wn from the Cross and saved yourself and saved also us. This statement reveals an understanding that the people believed that the Messiah is mercyfull and forgiving.

They did not see the Messiah ready to  come against the unrighteous and making an example of them.

To believe that it requires faith. The other thief believe exactly what Jesus was saying and this is " that my Kingdom is not from this world...the thief believe in life after death and he also believe that Jesus will have his own kingdom in the after Life and Express his desired to be with Jesus in the after Life.

This is the faith that moved Jesus to say to him " today you will be with me in Paradise..

Jesus said that to him, which is something he could understand because him by right as a descendant of Abraham his Inheritance after death it was to be wellcome by their Father Abraham into his Bosom...the Paradise of Abraham, only if he was righteous...Jesus knowing that the thief knew that and the bystanders knew that he said that to let them know that he forgave his sins and that's why he said to the thief that today you will be with me to the Paradise...Jesus was believed to be a righteous man...and by that statement Jesus informed the bystanders that he will die as a righteous man...and he was telling the thief that he will watch him to die and that he will also die the same day, and that Jesus will be right there at the Bosom of Abraham to wait for him..when Jesus was saying these things it was before his death of the Cross and by the time on the same day a little while after Jesus died, Jesus Christ will welcome the thief after his death on the Cross in the Paradise of Abraham, after his death but before his resurrection....

I don't see any scripture in the above even though the account was mentioned four times in the Bible.

Have you seen and follow the ten steps of the Crisificton of Jesus Christ...they are through out curved on the wall...

Yes but so what. Jesus saves, not His steps carved on a wall. Following the steps carved on a wall is just ritualistic, not something that saves.

You are right about that, the scripture says that only those who died in unbelief or having the chance to believe in Jesus and decided not to believe and they died that way in their unbelief are away from God and not with Jesus in Heaven...

The rest who died in ignorance Jesus cannot judge them according to their faith in him or according to their denial in him...Jesus will deal with them in some other way...this is the truth.

Romans 1

20 For the unseen things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being realized by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, for them to be without excuse.

Have you ever tried ministering to them?

I have attempted to witness to them. I prefer not to discuss what I do, because of the admonition not to let the right hand know what the left hand is doing ... that is I do not want to appear bragging. The Lord knows what I do, no one else needs to know.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
