Yes.

Then have some trust and faith. If the Bible tells you that those who are true believers are saved then that is exactly what it means.

I was just about to address that @Not of the World On any given forum there are differences of opinion (Gr, dogma), which can be expressed in blunt and rude manners so as to become personal and offensive.

This thread could lead to some valuable comments so please report any posts that fail the Biblical standard of edifying the body of Christ and they will be dealt with if necessary. The "ignore" function is a useful option where permitted.

Boasting & Proclaiming One's Salvation:

Back in the early 1980's I left the Anglican Communion and began fellowshipping in Charismatic and Pentecostal assemblies. My first thought was that those in leadership did have an air of superiority about them, and upon investigation I discovered that boasting and proclaiming one's salvation was taught as a form of Spiritual Warfare, as opposed to feeling condemned by sinfulness and invasive memories of past transgressions.

Unfortunately spiritual pride does taint the body of Christ and the hubris of elitist leaders is a blot on the page for many who fall prey to it.

That is why we must continue to wrestle against the principalities, powers, rulers of this world, and the spiritual wickedness in high places that seek to prevent the fruit of the Spirit from manifesting in favour of the works of the flesh.

Blessings from Michael37.

If we asked a question: what have you done to earn or deserve being saved in the last 5 years.

I wonder how many could name a single thing they've done to deserve it.

In applying terms like earn or deserve to modern day christians sometimes they get offended.

They've been groomed by liberal media, liberal educational system, liberal church and liberal state to believe they're entitled to have everything in life for free.

Which is a very liberal and left wing mentality.

Their prayers to God are full of requests for free stuff. They want wisdom for free. Knowledge for free. Health for free. They pray to God as if he were Karl Marx offering them free healthcare and free student loans. Which I find disrespectful in a "you only pray to God when you want free stuff" kind of way.

But I think it is unfair for people to be defined solely by their flaws. What really matters is how much effort they're putting into everything. Maybe they are doing the best they can. And if such is the case I don't mind them labeling themselves as saved.

The reason the bible might cite God's endless love and mercy could be a remembrance that most of the saved aren't the most impressive or best people at first glance. We all fall short in ways.

Perhaps even so we are all improving and becoming better christians over time. Which can give us hope. That might be the most important thing. As it implies progress is being made. Circumstances are improving. Our conception of morality and faith are changing for the better. Bringing us all closer to God and Heaven.

It's important to remember that we can never do anything to earn, or deserve, to be saved.  Salvation is all of grace (unmerited favour).

Eph. 2:8-10 (WEB)

8 for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,
9 not of works, that no one would boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

I hear and read many telling others how they are "saved".  However, I personally have NO IDEA who is actually saved, including myself.  I suppose I won't know until if and when it happens.  I personally believe that telling others that they're saved is rather presumptuous.  I think it's fine to believe it but I think it's something that one should keep to themselves.  Thoughts?

It is not presumptuous to tell people that we are saved.  God tells us to do so.  I'll show you further down.

[I know some people here use the phrase "born again", but it's the same thing.]

The scripture passage you used from Matthew 18 is not about telling others that you are a Christian, but it was about the disciples thinking that they were better than each other - trying to raise themselves above the other.  Not because of Christ, but because of themselves and their haughty minds.

Two things:

I.  God says to tell others what he has done for you in terms of salvation and more:

  • The Great Commission - go and tell!- Matthew 28
  • God says to be witnesses of what he has done for you - Acts 1 - how can you be a witness unless you testify to others of how God saved you?
  • Do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord - 2 Timothy 1
  • Be ready with a gentle  DEFENSE for when people ask you why you have hope - 1 Timothy 3:15
  • Let the redeemed of the LORD SAY SO! - Psalm 107:2
  • If we acknowledge Jesus Christ before others, HE will acknowledge us before God. - Matthew 10:32

I confess, readily and publicly, that God has saved me through Jesus Christ.  Nothing I did saved me and nothing I do saves me.  God alone saves - through Christ.

You say, "keep it to yourself".  That's not what the Bible says.

II.  I knew something was wrong yesterday in your thread about comparing the autistic girl to people who read the Bible.  You said you couldn't wait until you were saved to something to that effect.

THAT DAY can be RIGHT NOW, brother!!  The Bible says to confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.  =  Romans 10:9-10.

It's not rocket science dear one - and you can know that you have made this decision.  Call on God.  Call on Christ.  He will save you.

I joined this community primarily to learn from others about God and to, hopefully, grow closer to God as a result.  I also enjoy the opportunity to humbly (I hope) share my own thoughts and questions to others.  What I am adamant about NOT doing is engaging with others in order to win an argument.  I believe that, one who wishes to persuade must also, if they're being honest, be willing to be persuaded themselves.  The fact is, I'm a simple man struggling to stay on the narrow path prescribed by Jesus.  While it would be easy and, in a way, natural to lash out at others, I know that to do so is unkind, unGodly, and disobedient to our lord and savior.  Sometimes, of course, even politely telling someone the truth will be received by another as offensive and they may respond in an unkind manner, as we witnessed here in this thread.  I hope to not have to use that "ignore" function but I also recognize that it is sometimes necessary, unfortunately.  God bless you as well!

Nothing.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
