Before I begin, please let me assure you this will not tickle...but it will build you up...I hope. For you are most precious and much loved in the Lord.

It is my understanding that after we are born again, we have to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. We have to renew ourselves daily in the Word and live the life as Jesus told us. There will be many that will one day say, Lord, Lord, haven't we cast out demons in your name...etc. etc., and Jesus will tell them to depart for He never knew them.

Does not the Bible tell us that there are two kinds of believers. Those that are carnally minded and those that are spiritually minded? But, to be carnally minded is death. If we walk after the Spirit, however, we will have life. The Holy Spirit is also known as the Oil. The Word of God is the Lamp.

All of us need to do daily maintainance on our lives and ever seek to know Him more. The Bible tells us if we judge ourselves, we will not be judged. We can only do that if we stay in the Word and have a relationship with the Lord.

We go from glory to glory in this walk with the Lord. We need to strive to be Spirit led and not flesh led people of God. Putting off the old man and putting on the new. Sometimes we have to take a very active part in this...not just sit back and expect the Lord to change us if we are not willing to yield to Him.

We have to take every thought captive...we have to put off the old man when he tries to creep up... we have to say no to sin...but thanks be to God He has given us the fruit of self control to do it and not left us out there in left field somewhere. He gives us the ability to live the Spirit led life.

When we get to the point where we think it is too hard to live godly is may be that we are not in daily communion with Him. It may be that we are not surrendered in some areas of our life. Or perhaps there has been a flood unleashed at you and you are trying to lift up a standard instead of the Holy Spirit. The devil loves to try to get Christians going after him on their own. Whatever the case...keep on keeping on. The Lord will not fail us. He is the one who gives us the ability to live the life He has set before us. Learning to lean on Jesus is an experience that will propel us to the place Paul was when he proclaimed he ran the race to the finish, he kept the faith.

We all have to work out our own salvation ...and believe me, I know, it gets sweeter and sweeter as the days go by!! :-) Not that I have arrived...but that I have learned we go from glory to glory in our experience with the Lord and it gets better all the time! He is soooo good. When those valley times come your way...remember the mountain top...encourage yourself in the Lord and press on. The joy of the Lord is our strength!! Praying in the Spirit and the truth...building yourselves up in the most holy faith!!

Are you led of the flesh...or the Spirit???

It was 47 years ago that this parable was preached and I repented of my sins. It was 1956 in Wilmington, Calif.

I had never owned a Bible, and never had been taken to Sunday School.

I had never heard of anything like what I heard that day.

I can not tell you the deep spiritual food that you are looking for in this parable. But I can tell you that it was preached by a Pentecostal preacher that day and this soul was saved from going to hell.

Now looking at all that is said and how wonderful you all have set forth everything you have "seen' in this parable. I am surprised.

I see the maturity of a Christian in some of the replys. The ever present what does this mean? The analizing of the mind busy with new information.

What I am telling you that it was so simple that day. I just knew that from hearing this preached that I wanted to know Jesus and I also was convicted of my sins.

How did it speak to me?? Did I think I was one of them foolish virgins?? Did I know I did not have a lamp with oil??

I can not say. I can just say the Word of God is sharper then a two edge sword. And that day this sword was that parable.

My 2 cents:

I tend to think the 5 foolish virgins represent Israel, they were supposed to be the light to the world but it went out in their unbelief and their need of nothing (they thought they were hly enough in themselves) the 5 wise virgins have plenty of oil but they can't share because the oil is bought with a price and the foolish have to accept that price-Jesus. They have to "go and sell all that they have" (pride, confidence in the flesh, self-righteousness,.....) and humble themselves before God and accept the only One that can save them, Jesus.

While they are figuring this out He comes and takes the church, they are left to not love their lives to the death, but to lose their lives to save them.

Not very detailed, sorry. rollinTHUNDER has a very good thread on this too. :D

What is the one thing the parables have in common?

What is the common denominator in the parable of the 10 virgins, and the parable following it? How about the Parable of the Tenants, The Parable of the Seeds, the Prodigal Son, The Poor Widow, etc.

Don't know? Go read this and see if you can figure it out.

Never seen it interpreted like that before but I like it and definately makes sense.

This parable formed the closing part of the Lord's teaching on the Mount of Olives and was designed to illustrate and enforce His teachings as to watchfulness, in view of the then immediate second coming "parousia", conditional on the repentance of that second generation in response to the ministry of Peter and the Twelve, beginning at Pentacost, proclaimed and formulated in Acts 3. 19-26. The parable has nothing to do with the church to-day as to interpretation, though there is the same solemn application as to watchfulness

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
