New Jerusalem – Order of Events

History’s ultimate climax will be the most spectacular, supernatural, miraculous phenomenon ever seen. The main focus of this climax is the return of the Redeemer, the Messiah.

He restores Paradise which had been lost.

He will right all wrongs and bring a permanent peace to our planet.

Look at the summation in these grand and gracious words: “BEHOLD!.... the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people”

In Rev 21:1-2, we see that the New Heaven and the New Earth is linked in time to the New Jerusalem’s descent:

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband.”

When do these events occur?

Some believe that the events described above both occur one thousand years after God’s Kingdom is begun, at the end of the millennium. Those who hold to this view have interpreted all of Rev 20-22 to be a sequential chronology.

But…..

In the midst of Rev 20-22 are some puzzle pieces that just don’t fit the scenario.

Rev 21:27: “and nothing unclean, and no one who practices abomination and lying, shall ever come into it, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”

Rev 22:15: “ Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.”

If the New Jerusalem comes down after the millennium, then these two verses don’t fit. The “Eternal State” is what comes after the millennium, when there will no longer be any death or sin.

Rev 20 gives us a general overview of the order of events and then Rev 21-22 backs up and gives detail. Such is the case in Gen 1-2:4. God gives the order of creation culminating in the creation of humans, then backs up and gives us detail of how Adam was formed first, then Eve (Gen 2:5-25) If John is following this pattern of overview then backing up to give detail, the New Jerusalem would be on earth at the beginning of the Millennium.

The term “new heaven and new earth”, Rev 21:1, does not mean the planet is destroyed and remade. Instead, God renovates the surface of the earth and the atmosphere……. Not new in kind, but new in quality.

Hebrews 12:26-27:

“And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, “YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN

This expression, “Yet once more,” denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.”

This shaking would be referring to the last bowl judgment which is described as a “great earthquake, such as there had not been since man came to reign upon the earth, so great and earthquake was it, and so mighty”… Rev 16:18

The heavens and the earth will be shaken. There will be great destruction followed by great renovation. Then those things which cannot be shaken, meaning the New Jerusalem, will remain.

“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also“…. Jn 14:1-3

Where did Jesus say He was going? …… “to prepare a place for you”

Where did He say He would be? ..... “ In My Fathers house…… where I am there you may be also”

Where? …… “to prepare a place for you” …………………… “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also”

The “many dwelling places” imply a city.

At the end of the Bible, Jesus says:

“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.”…………. Rev 22:12-14

Jesus refers to His coming and to the City in the same context. The redeemed will have the privilege of entering the gates of the city and the right to the Tree of Life.

Jesus says that when He returns He is bringing His reward (for us) with Him. Rev 22:12 above., also Isa 62:11. When He comes at the rapture, at the main harvest (read the parable of the wheat and tares Matt 14:24-30), He says He will meet us in the sky. He will then place us in the New Jerusalem…. In the sky. Look at Isa 26:20:

“Come, my people, enter into your rooms (in My Fathers house are many dwelling places Jn 14:1-3)

And close your doors behind you;

Hide for a little while

Until indignation runs its course”. (until the Wrath of God ends)

How long does “indignation run its course”? ……. See Isa 34:8, Isa61:2 and Isa 63:4. God’s “indignation” or His “vengeance” lasts a year. The same length of time that the seven trumpets and seven bowls last. (a topic for another day)

Peter talks about the destruction of the heavens and the earth at the time of the Day of the Lord:

2 Peter 3:6-7 …. “through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water.

But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.”

In the same section, Peter goes on to say:

2 Peter 3:10, 12-13 “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up…………..

looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat!

But according to His promise we are looking for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwells.”

If the Day of the Lord brings destruction of the earth and the heavens, which is according to numerous Old and New Testament prophecies, then the renewing of the earth and heavens will take place shortly after.

Rev 21:1-2:… “Then I saw a new heaven and new earth, for the first heaven and earth passed away….

(2 Peter 3:10, 12-13 “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be burned up)

“And I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband”

As mentioned above, God renovates the surface of the earth and the atmosphere. If we look at Rev 20:9, we see that the earth has already been renovated, and the beloved city, New Jerusalem, is already on the ground…… in the millennium.

Rev 20:9…….. “And they came up on the broad plain of the earth (renovated earth) and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city,(New Jerusalem) and fire came down from heaven and devoured them”

I’m just touching upon the numerous OT and NT Scriptures that speak of the New Jerusalem, the City of God, God’s Holy Mountain, the city which has foundations, whose architect and builder is God (Heb 11:10

I asked myself this question:

Does it make sense that God, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, The King of the universe, the great I AM….. would dwell among us after the battle of Armageddon…………… And have no place to live????

What kind of dwelling would He abide in while we all wait until the 1000 years are up and the New Jerusalem comes down? Will He couch serf? Live in a tent? A yurt maybe? A 1 bedroom? A 2 bedroom or more house?

I am 100% convinced that Scripture shows that the earth is destroyed and renovated at the last bowl, then the New Jerusalem comes to the earth with the Bride of Christ already in it…. waving with sheer delight to the remaining inhabitants on the earth.

At the end of the Millennium...AFTER Satan loosed and GOD ends it...

So we know, what ended at the lake of fire is long gone never to be around again.

Now, we leave the subject of the New heaven and New earth for a couple comments and a little bit of final wisdom and knowledge.

6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

WHICH WE KNOW takes place at the end of this age, so this has nothing to do with the New Heaven and earth. Again just a last little bit of wisdom being put forth for us.

9And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

Remember we just read
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

GOD is made ALL AND ALL, GOD is GOD, GOD is our Saviour, GOD is one.

10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

11Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal;

12And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel:

13On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.

3And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

4And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

5And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

Last bits of advice for us...back to this age...

11He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.

12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

I don't believe this, the second death, is at the end of this age.

The second death is at the end of the millennium.

Jesus tells us when this age ends:

Matt 13:32

Whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age or in the age to come.

Mat 13:39

and the enemy who sowed them is the devil, and the harvest is the]end of the age; and the reapers are angels.

Mat 13:40

“So just as the tares are gathered up and burned with fire, so shall it be at the end of the age.

Mat 13:49

“So it will be at the end of the age; the angels will come forth and take out the wicked from among the righteous

The harvest, which is the rapture, which is at the second coming, is the end of this age.

We see SOME of the DEAD (both just and unjust) being resurrected when Christ returns at the end of this age.

UP UNTIL THE GWTJ, not one SOUL has perished aka body and soul has experienced the 2nd death in lake of fire. SURE, there are those who are 'destroyed' in hell, but not until the GWTJ when they are raised up and into the lake of fire, does any soul cease to exist.

If so, please show me where and explain who 'hell death and the sea' raise up AFTER THE DEAD are judged.

1. we have those who AT 1st death, ***resurrect from 'the dead flesh' body, (never die) and go to heaven (follow Him) and return with Christ (in the army) to sit upon the thrones* (whom the alive and remain join with), when He comes at the 2nd Advent as King of kings and Lord of Lords to end the tribulation and when the great tribulation, the WRATH of God is poured out.

2. We have those who 1st death and go to hell and resurrect when Christ returns (unsaved) the DEAD.

3. We have those who 1st death and DON'T resurrect when Christ returns but remain in hell death and sea until AFTER the DEAD (those who did resurrect when Christ returned) are judged.

Gonna try and keep them short. Gods words doesn't work in short little blurbs, not in me anyhow, as one thing is attached to another. If you don't feel led by the Holy Spirit to read them, then please just pass over them as I am not expecting a reply anyhow. My responsibility is to stand upon the wall and warn and I can't help it if these warnings come with lots of information. I try, have tried and will continue to try, but where it goes is where it goes. I don't mean to offend anyone, though I just seem to, in one way or the other, all the time. Such is my lot in life.

*** WE know this is speaking to those who ARE SAVED because those raised up OUT OF THE CORRUPTION/hell/the grave do not receive their immortality. So this takes place for those who NEVER DIE and follow Him

42So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

43It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

And how do we KNOW the DEAD being raised when Christ returns DO NOT RECEIVE IMMORTALITY but wait until the GWTJ?

50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

I agree. BUT try and read it not as if it is ONLY giving an ORDER OF EVENTS, but it is giving information along the way.

We have been TOLD the 2nd death comes at the end of the Millennium so we can SET THAT in stone.

WE KNOW all evil is gone BEFORE the new heaven and earth so we can SET THAT IN STONE.

THESE are MARKERS that tell us WHAT is being referred to and when. So when speaking of the NEW HEAVEN and earth and then you hear about EVIL, you know John has jumped BACK to this age or the millennium.

WE HAVE to use the wisdom and knowledge of God, as it keeps us in a 'common sense' frame of mind. RIGHTeous and Just are always kept at the forefront as to what God does or doesn't do. If it isn't Holy and right and Just, it isn't of GOD.
May I suggest you let go of EVERYTHING you have ever learned and let the SPIRIT of Truth guide you. No 'beliefs' or traditions or whatever. BEST thing that I have found is to go to either the Hebrew or the Greek and TYPE it out myself, in the order the words were given, which is STRANGE at first but gets to be less strange as you go. If you are a slow typist like me, it gives you time to let sink in what we are being told. The order of the words just seem to give a much clearer view, than the translation. JUST sharing what I do. If we were to take the Revelation in the order in which it is written, it would always be confusing for one because it jumps from earth to heaven and back.

But I will answer this one. Rev 19:20 has the beast and the false prophet thrown into the lake of fire. This is at Armageddon.

I don't see evil being eradicated until the 1,000 years have expired.

All evil is done away with at the Lake of fire. The lake of fire is at the end of the Millennium. That is at the end of the 1000 years.

I think we both agree here.

So what you need is for me to show you the New Heaven and Earth coming AFTER the Lof?? Is that correct?

12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

1And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

No hell, no death, no sea, NO ONE whos name was not in the was not found in the book of life.

ALL saved is all that is left. There ARE NO

2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.

And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

6And he said unto me, It is done.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

The angel didn't come to him in the NEW HEAVEN and new earth but in this one BUT he is going to SHOW HIM more about the New Heaven and earth

9And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.

10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
