Mrs. Olsen is more appealing and motherly than Juan Valdez, with his scruffy, unshaven face, and stubborn donkey George Clooney.

But coffee is not always about taste and comfort; it is a multipurpose beverage. Take, for instance, Uncle Sam’s Army coffee. It is filling, and you do not drink it; you eat it. Want hair in places you thought impossible; one to two cups should do.

It is part of the Armies camouflage combat face paint, permanently staining your teeth black, not to be given away and discovered during nighttime operations. There is no need for cream and sugar, as it cannot be stirred, and it has a lifetime shelf life and does not evaporate; it is unnecessary to dehydrate and condense.

The Army calls it a cup of Joe. Is “Joe” really in Army coffee? 😊

I've been following this to see if real coffee drinkers use K-cups :D

Back about 10 years ago I thought K-cups were the coolest thing ever and had to have the K-cup brewer. I seen my first K-cup in a gift shop where they offered a free cup at a little coffee area they had set up. I was mesmerized by the thing.

I bought the machine and went on a quest to find the perfect K-cup. After an innumerable amount of K-cups ( I would buy like a box of 48 of them discounted) and experiment with the more serious blends, flavored, different roast etc. I'm a medium roast kinda guy and I realized the ones with added flavorings did nothing for me.

About that time my K-cup machine went kaput. I began to read all of the guilt trips for how environmentally bad the K-cups were with millions of them going into landfills. Also some of the potential health issues with the small amounts of aluminum and 'stuff' that can come from some of the plastics in some of the K-cups, so I went back to an automatic filter brewer.

The only problem with filter brewers is it can be difficult to determine how much to make. I finally dialed mine in to about 3 cups, which when brewed  fills my large coffee cup, so my one 'cup' is really 3 cups. I will often nurse that over an hour. I add a little sugar free french vanilla and I'm good to go.

This is a little more trouble than popping in a K-cup but not by much and I can usually get my coffee for less.

I have been recently tempted to go back to the K-cup brewer though.

Making our own k-cups is the way to go, brother. It brews the perfect cup of coffee every time which is why I prefer this method over others. The portion is just right.

Perfect for those mornings when a Coffee Brewing Incident is just waiting to happen.

Not that I've had one of those happen in a long time...

Less muss, no fuss:

Exactly what you need, when you need it;

No pot of coffee sitting on the burner for hours;

Making our own k-cups guarantees fresh roast (I've always wondered about the actual age of ground coffee in store-bought k-cups :39:);

Not to mention how frugal such an enterprise proves to be. $$$ is saved.

Just make sure to position the coffee cup under the business end of the k-cup brewer. That helps! :whistling:

I am borderline diabetic, but have managed so far to stay off meds and keep myself within range. I go for the sugarless peanut butter and really like it.

Me too, brother.  Waiting for heaven, we can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens us—we really can! 495480D7-A109-4A76-8AF0-E4468F855206.gif.1180eedb9798fc7def922f2ca10bf1b9.gif

lol. I hate to admit I forgot to put the cup under mine a few times or I forgot to put water in.

For awhile Keurig went nuts and came out with another K-cup design. I had one of those machines too. I think the idea was to prevent others from copying the K-cups. That idea backfired and they went back to the old style. I have seen a few dual brew machines too where they allow either full pot or K-cups on one machine.

I originally built a dedicated coffee tea bar for when company comes over. That was a flop since when I asked who wanted coffee or tea out of a 15 person group, only maybe one wanted anything. I don't get it. The demand just is never there, so maybe I'll just go back to single brew and be done with it. Right now I'm the only one using the bar and most of the tea is now old.

Tea? :emot-fail:

You are forgiven for that. :consoling2:

;)

I noticed tea k cups in the grocery store. Fascinating. :39:

After I transitioned to using a k cup brewer, I entered into what I call the Coffee Brewing Incident phase. It went something like this:

Step 1: Get up in the morning...

Step 2: Plug a k cup in the brewer... neat, all I have to do is press the button!

Step 3: Sit down at my desk and consider the clean and empty coffee cup perched next to my laptop...

Step 4: Oh my! :o

Step 5: Ruefully consider the coffee all over the countertop... sigh. :emot-fail:

Step 6: Look on the bright side. Clean that countertop to a high shine! :emot-bounce:

Step 7: Break myself of the habit of leaving my clean coffee cup at my desk before I go to bed. ;)

Work calls, so it's time to stuff a k cup full of Death Wish dark roast.

A little while ago, I discovered that Death Wish dark roast breaks the rule of less caffeine content for dark-roasted beans...

8 ounces of brewed Death Wish dark roast = 472 mg of caffeine.

That dwarfs the 300mg of caffeine in their horrific instant coffee! :43:

So, a revision is in order, folks. The caffeine content of any particular roast of coffee depends upon the bean roasted.

Redeemed from sissy-hood! :18:

Just kidding!

Have a blessed day, my fellow coffee-quaffing brothers and sisters. :)

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
