The Book of John- In the Beginning

Blessings Everyone....

In speaking with many who come from different denominations there are many questions New Believers or "Seekers" have and many of us suggest they begin in the Book of John, commonly referred to as the Love Letter.....I came across a pretty thorough and nicely written commentary that I thought might be a nice way to kick off a Bible Study of the Book of John....

Typically I'm happy to initiate and facilitate a Study but I always try to Encourage others to join in that our Babes may hear the witness of 2,3 and more - that they may Receive what we have in Christ Jesus- it begins with that Measure of Faith to the Glory of God Almighty

It's a long read but imo,well done ...let us begin with John Chapter 1-Enjoy and be Bountifully Blessed!

The Book of John is such a wonderful Introduction to the Word of God...the Apostle John writes that we may Believe....Believe what?No,Believe WHO!

There is no mistaking WHO Jesus IS ,He IS God the Son,God Manifest in the flesh,The Word that Was,that IS and Will Forever Be.....God Almighty Who Came to Provide the Way,the Only Way back into Relationship with Himself - to Reconcile what was a broken Relationship because of the first man's sin.Born of a woman,fully man yet Fully God

Jesus,the Way,the Truth & the Life.. ..Glory to God Most High!

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Romans 3:

1 What advantage then has the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision? 

2 Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.

The Jewish scribes provide us with the written record of what God said,

the Logos informs us of what He meant!

1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us comprehension. 

that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. 

This is the true God and eternal life.

“You have heard that it was said to those of old...but I say to you"

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets.

I did not come to destroy but to fulfill."

John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God,

and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Apologies, I may have misunderstood. Are we discussing John, beginning with chapter 1, or merely commenting on a commentary? I don't do commentaries, so I won't be going there, but I am happy to share insights I have gained over the years in discussion with the Holy Spirit on such a worthy topic. Just an FYI, from experience I have often found that people who have studied not only the Greek language, but the manner in which logos is used in Greek philosophy, or Jewish sages as well, think to explain logos based on their observations, in spite of them being unbelieving scholars. As if their opinions inform us of Christ! I reject this forthrightly, as Christ informs us of the true understanding of logos, not the other way around. If you want to understand logos, study the words of Christ, not the speculations of those who came before Him.

John 5:24 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My logos and believes in Him

who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, 

but has passed from death into life.

John 8:

31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,

If ye continue (abide) in my logos, then are ye my disciples indeed;

37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me,

because My logos hath no place in you.

43 Why do ye not understand My speech?

even because ye cannot hear My logos.
