Cat:  At no time did I address you having a cross in your home.  All Christians have a cross we bear daily -- comes with the territory. :P  :P

I think you might have been mixing up some other posts with mine on other threads, because a few times you addressed "starfire" as "Star".  Regardless, I never meant to infer that you do not have a cross -- I might even be part of that cross you have to bear!  :D  :t2:

Hey girls........

I don't see any pride in Star's statement, she is right, we have to pick up our cross daily.

To each his own, no cross with Jesus on it in y house because He's not there anymore...HE IS RISEN!!!

Cat,we are only discussing things and not everybody thinks like you do, God made us all different and maybe this topic was brought up to give it more thought?

We just cannot compromise what we believe is wrong, sorry if I have hurt your feelings, you have to be realistic!

Love in Christ,Angels

Angel:  I don't think carrying your cross daily, {and I have} has a thing to do with being "religiously" correct. If YOU don't want a cross on your wall ...cool.

But for those of us who do, please...let's not imply that we "need" a symbol. It's a not a need. It's something many Christians are proud to display.

I feel sorry for people who think they need to "correct" the rest of us....

I don't intend to become politically {or religiously} correct for anyone.

Hi everyone..... I just came across this thread while being snowed in today. I didn't know that the steeples were supposed to be a symbol of anything other that there was a building there where Christians meet. I also was brought up that the church was the people, so to Yod....I don't know any people with a steeple coming out of their heads. :P A building is just a building, right? I guess this brings me to the point of where it really matters..We will be judged by our hearts, not on what we do or don't do in another humans eyes. Most of the time the one's doing the pointing are mostly out to find what is wrong with someone else and not what is right with them. You know that ol' saying....when you point the finger at someone else...there are 3 more pointing right back at ourselves. We, as Christians need to get the log out of our own eyes before we can help someone else get the splinter out of theirs. Just my opinion :sarcasm: Memmy

Star:

I remember a friend telling me about her church. In that "super-pious" church - where everyone was "religiously"  correct in everything, women weren't allowed to wear pants, not even gardening. It was strictly forbidden.

If a person said, "Golly" or "gosh" they were considered infidels. The list of "no-no's" was a mile long.

The degree of legalism was mind-numbing and stiffling.

These same people thought it was likely they had exclusive rights to heaven ...

Personally, I have NO problem with what people put in their homes - pictures, crosses, artwork or scripture verses.

Nor should anyone ever IMPLY that those of us who do are somehow "less" of a Christian or that we do it because we "need" to. It's not a need...it's a desire to be "ourselves" - thank you very much.

That's the joy of having your own home...it's YOURS. You can express yourself and who you are.

My home reflects "me" and those things which are special to me. It's a home filled with sweet aromas, pies baking in the oven, kitties purring and yes - a cross on the wall, along with all kinds of Christian "things" - all of which say express my own tastes.

I am hardly an "idol-worshipper" if I enjoy decorating my home with Christian things.

We started this topic off with saying how terrible "church steeples" are ...people can't be serious?!  :butbut:

Astralis:  There is lots of film footage of various groups who pray to those figures on the cross. Surely you have seen some!

I don't collect figurines -- I find them tacky. :t2:   However, I am unaware of anyone ever praying to one. :P   Also, anything can be an idol.

This is not the topic of Yod's thread, though. Yod brought up the issue of oblesiks in the church.  If you would like to discuss this other issue on a new thread, I would be happy to explore it further with you, although I can't see what more needs to be said.  I don't want to de-rail Yod's thread -- I like him. :P

Cat:  At no point in this thread have I ever addressed what you have in your home.  At no point in this thread have I discussed what type of worship I engage in.  This is really a non-issue with me. I am sure you have a lovely home that reflects you. :P

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
