Martin Luther - "The first duty of the gospel preacher is to declare God's law and show the nature of sin, because it will act as a schoolmaster and bring him to everlasting life which is in Jesus Christ."

John Wesley - "Before I preach love, mercy, and grace, I must preach sin, law, and judgment."

Wesley later advised a friend, "Preach 90 percent law and 10 percent grace."

Charles Spurgeon - "They will never accept grace until they tremble before a just and holy law."

Charles Finney - "Evermore the law must prepare the way for the gospel; to overlook this in instructing souls is almost certain to result in false hope, the introduction of a false standard of Christian experience, and to fill the church with false converts."

John Wycliffe - "The highest service to which a man may attain on earth is to preach the law of God."

D.L. Moordy - "God, being a perfect God, had to give a perfect law, and the law was given not to save men, but to measure them."

Amen.

It is sad however that the majority of preachers today would disagree with these statements . . . unless you tell them who was the author of them.

We were given the law in order to prove that man couldn't keep it.

we have been taught peace, mercy, tollerance for so long, we have almost forgotten the Laws.....

by knowing the Laws, we find where we have short comings. by knowing the Laws, we also find that there is no way that we can get by with out Christ. if we excuse the Laws, we find ways to prolong, put off, postpone judgement. by excusing the Laws, we continue to be bound by them and their penalties. by accepting the Laws, and the pardon for them we find we are no longer bound to the judgement of them ( this does not mean we have a license to break them, on the contrary, by accepting the Lawmaker, and the Pardon, we become a new person, and will find it easier to keep the Laws...

Very much like driving a car.... if the Speed limit is 30, but there is no speed limit signs, one does not know the Law, the Law still exist, and they are still bound to the penalties ( ignorance of the law is no excuse ) and if we get pulled over doing 50, we will pay the penalty.... not knowing the law will get a person in more trouble then knowing it and following it.

if we know the speed limit is 30 we will be more apt to do 30 then 50.

if we do not teach the laws to the people, how in the world are we going to expect them to know that they need a pardon from them? if they feel that every thing is covered under grace and mercy, and do not have to worry about what they do, we are doing them an injustice, and they will perish, and we will be held responsible for not teaching them correctly.

What reason does anyone have to come to Christ, if they feel that they do not need Him, or if they feel that there are good people out here, and that God will not send a good person to hell. While it is very true, God will not send a good person to hell, I have yet to see ( in the flesh ) a good person. Even Christ said that there was no one that is good, save the Father (God). Christ is the closest thing to being good this earth has ever had walking on it, and He took our sins and hand delivered them, so that we would not have to see the pits of hell.

we must ensure that the entire Gospel is shared, not just bits and pieces, we do not have much time left, As Christ Said, we can read the weather, but we have a hard time reading the signs of the times.

I am not saying we should pound people over the head with the law, just teach them that they do exist and they are for us to follow, but the only way to do this, is through Christ.

The real trick is to teach these concepts in a way that is meaningful for the hearers, so that they perceive it the way God intended them to perceive it

Krk Cameron has a great teaching about how he uses the Law to bring people to salvation -

After all, how will they know they need to be saved if they don't know why they are in need of salvation?

Your comments are so encouraging...Someone responded with this quote, "In answer to your inquiry, I consider that the chief dangers which confront the coming century will be religion without the Holy Ghost, christianity without Christ, forgiveness without repentance, salvation without regeneration, politics without God, and heaven without hell." William Booth 1829-1912, in response to an inquiry at the turn of the century.

Often, people struggle with the Scripture, "Be ye perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect." Recently, a Scripture came alive to me in a new way, "Now the end of the commandment is love out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned..."1 Timothy 1:5 and "I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers WITH PURE CONSCIENCE..." 11 Timothy 1:3. Brethren, that, is what perfection is - a pure conscience. God's standard of righteousness - His law, reveals our sin. We come to Him in repentance and He circumcises our hearts. That is sanctification...the bride must be prepared for the heavenly bridegroom!

These forums give us an incredible opportunity to come together, from our various denominations, and exalt the Word of God, alone. Just as the harlot and her daughters (Revelation 17) are coming together, so the Lord longs to bring together his flock, back to the Word of God. Let's examine our various traditions in the light of the word, and come back to the pure, unadulterated word of the living God...amen

If the purpose of the law is to reveal our sin, what is it's purpose once sin is revealed?

What is the role of the law in the life of one who has already been forgiven of sins? Do you believe it's purpose changes once redemption has occurred? Or do you believe obedience to the law is necessary to secure salvation?

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
