I have been feeding on a sermon in Spanish. I go through parts at a time. It can be interesting to hear what a pastor is saying to Hispanics in Central America, I think it is.

I am not always sure if he is saying what I get :) But I seem to get some good things >

We can't have the peace of Jesus without knowing Him.

There is no peace of Jesus, without going through trials which bring the character of Christ which is where we have this peace.

If we stay in weakness of ungodly character while wishing and crying for peace, this will not work. We must be changed to know Christ so we know His peace.

The word of the Lord is more sure than the heavens and the earth.

Humans wear the clothes which fit with their work and activities; wear Jesus and His humility and do His works.

Right while this evil world does its thing, we have Jesus and His peace. So, having peace does not depend on first changing this evil world!

People are spiritually weak because they do not feed on Jesus.

What you think about is what can stir your appetite!!

We have peace in knowing You will not leave nor forsake us.

Great message!

I always enjoy when we talk about the importance of turning from sin and preparing yourself to do good work for the Lord,

The message I get can be different and maybe even better than what the preacher is saying.

For example, ones might rightly say a certain lifestyle is wrong. But I can be getting how there are things I myself need to stop doing.

"For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?" (1 Peter 4:17)

So, I can be getting how I myself need evaluation and attention "first" . . . more than ones getting so much public criticism when they are not children of God and are not the ones getting God's judgment "first"!

There are sins which help to maintain us in wrong living.

Philippians 2:13-16 > Arguing and complaining can help people into murder and adultery and other more obvious sinning.

Complaining against God's blessing of rain, calling His bless "bad" weather . . . this can be way of not being "thankful" (Romans 1:21, Colossians 3:15), so we reap dismal time and depression, even, when we could be enjoying God and how He is providing us rain so essential for us to have life on this planet

God is no respecter of persons, but many people favor more beautiful and handsome actors and musicians and newscasters, and even discriminate about who they marry, based on beauty discrimination. And this can spoil us from how Jesus has us loving any and all people. Note how the LORD dealt with Jacob because he discriminated against Leah who was less beautiful than Rachel > Genesis 29:31.

And love discrimination can also include loving those who love us > Jesus warns and encourages us >

"If you love those who love you, what reward have you?" (in Matthew 5:46)

And there is food abuse which helps maintain a person in weakness for pleasure so he or she is weak also to keep on suffering in various personality and emotional trouble. Romans 13:14 > put on the Lord Jesus so we share with Him in His self control against dominating and dictatorial demands and lusts for pleasure and so instead we are pleasing God Himself!!!

Mark 11:25, Ephesians 4:31-32 > And, of course, unforgiveness can help maintain a person in deep weakness of what is not God's love, so a person can keep suffering and be desperate for different sorts of wrong and selfish pleasures.

So, such sins, even of church culture, can be helping people stay in their wrong lifestyles and be desperate for their pleasure preferences, trying to keep from feeling the pain and misery which their deep weakness makes them able to suffer. Desperation for pleasure is not a problem for only certain groups of people.

And these problems in supposedly Christian households have helped children to grow up weak so ones of them could break down into doing the things we see, today . . . including all the divorces which are having a way of sneaking by without getting attention.

Ones have used beauty discrimination in choosing whom they marry, then have used arguing and complaining and other abuse to enforce their getting things their way. And in their weakness of this they have broken down into adultery and divorce and murder . . . while public attention is steered elsewhere to ones who are not being judged "first".

Ones can aim the blame elsewhere.

So, while I am hearing so much talk about certain groups ruining America, inside myself is coming the message of how my own bad example can be helping produce the trouble we see today. But God is able to change me into a genuinely loving and caring person who has hope for anyone in my prayer > love "hopes all things" (in 1 Corinthians 13:7). And God uses example that is good in His sight > an example of this is in 1 Peter 3:1-4.

And obedience works. Because Abraham obeyed God's voice, here is what the LORD said to Abraham >

"'In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.'" (Genesis 22:18)

Abraham was surrounded by pagan people, and their anti-God culture. Yet, God guaranteed how Abraham's obedience would get all nations "blessed". One man in the midst of such evil was able to be so used by God, because he obeyed God's voice - - - not only for one nation, but for "all the nations of the earth".

But ones love only their own countries and independence and rights. Yet, God's obedient are getting His all-loving results > 1 Corinthians 15:58.

Indeed. I think for me the lesson was being careful what I consume because in order for God to use me as a vessel for good work (which I have been asking Him to do) I need to be holy, and ready, and useful to do so. So I have been trying to be more careful in the media I consume.

@jesusandliberty I do think we all need to spend more wholesome time in the Word rather than in vexing ourselves with a lot of stuff from the media. (I myself am not even in the US.)

@jesusandliberty Philippians 4 is a great chapter for the peace of God, for the believer.

Philippians 4.7: 'the peace of God'

Hebrews 13.20: 'the God of peace'.

Thinking upon the title of the thread: Perhaps it is best for me when I do not especially enjoy "the Sermon" least not for the "style", or entertaining personality of a shepherd/elder/pastor.

Perhaps it is best when I receive an awakening later on, and then think back to a  talk that was scripture reading heavy  along with application that I may put to good use for today.

Yes, I do think that is the best of moments, those ah ah times of  gee I was wrongheaded  to not have appreciated that sharing /teaching  at the time.

The thank you Lord, for giving me that second chance to get it might be the best times of all. For that  is when I have realized the Holy Spirit has been at work in the providence of my sovereign God over all matters, even the brief in time vapors of a moment out of eternity that is my own life. How very awesome and cool that is. God cares, God is sovereign.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
