Titus 3:

4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,

5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy

He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs

according to the hope of eternal life.

8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly,

that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works.

These things are good and profitable to men.

Romans 8:

23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit,

even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption,

the redemption of our body

24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope;

for why does one still hope for what he sees?

25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with perseverance.

Therefore, we can conclude that those who hold to this hope of eternal life must

commit to a life of good works in accordance with the Father's Will, and not become

bogged down with vain wrangling of doctrines that state that this is "works based"

attempts to earn salvation. This is what is required of those who are called and chosen,

to be faithful. This is toward finding and knowing Him, not merely knowing of Him.

Jeremiah 29:

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace

and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.

13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.

Matthew 7:

7 Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock,

and it will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds,

and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Romans 2:4 do you show contemptfor the riches of his ( God's) kindness, forbearance and patience, not realising that God's  kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

The Greek word 'elpis' is translated as 'hope' in the NT.  However, it doesn't mean how it is used today.  Today, 'hope' is used for "wishful thinking", as in "I hope I'm going to heaven when I die".  There is no confidence at all, just wishful thinking.

The Greek word means a confident expectation, which is a strong word for assurance.

So, the "hope of eternal life" is a confident expectation of eternity with God.

Intelligence-insulting nonsense.  Hope is never  "a strong word for assurance".   Stop twisting Scripture to suit your OSAS doctrine.  What are you afraid of?

Depends on how much of God’s Word you ingest…

Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Insults don't have any effect on me.  I care what the Word of God says, and I try to help those who misunderstand it.

I'm really curious about this.  I gave the Greek meaning of the Greek word.  Why do you ignore the original language?  Do you think Paul wrote in English?

As to "twisting Scripture", what a hoot!  I EXPLAINED the meaning of the Greek word, and I also explained HOW the English translation that is in use today isn't even close to the Greek meaning of 2,000 years ago.

If you aren't impressed with what the original language means, then I have to conclude that you really aren't interested in what the Bible says.  And since you claim that salvation CAN be lost, that would put you in the "wishful thinking" category in regards to "hope of eternal life".

Anyway, I shared the actual meaning of 'elpis'.  What you do or do not do with it is between you and God.

But the Bible teaches eternal security whether you understand that or not.  And UNAMBIGUOUSLY.

The operative word IS assurance, as that is what 'elpis' means in the Koine Greek of 2,000 years ago.

Or, confident expectation.  Which is assurance.

I was addressing the Greek word translated as "hope", which means confident expectation.  Which is assurance of salvation.

I am fully aware that no Arminian can say they are assured of salvation.  The idea seems anathema to them.  Even though it is taught throughout the Scriptures.

In Hebrews, 'the promise' is in regard to the "inheritance".  What was the promised inheritance to the Exodus generation?  The promised land.  Which does not parallel salvation, but reward.  The Jews had to fight to conquer the land and possess it.  The land WAS a blessing and reward, but they had to be obedient to God and fight for it.

Not even close to salvation, which is a grace gift, free of charge.

The command to be obedient is never attached to salvation, or that would indicate salvation by works, which is thoroughly debunked by Rom 4:4,5 and Eph 2:8,9.

The promise of eternal reward is what disobedient children of God won't be receiving.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
