@D. Adrien

"Had a dream weaver hanging from my left ear. :) Varied between that and a gold stud."

These days getting inked might be seen as being as simple as having an earlobe studded, right?

Hi @1to3 Back a bit you said:

"The New Testament does not say anything about whether or not a believer should get a tattoo."

So do you think that at least indirectly it may be the sort of subject that may be covered by Romans 14 Christian liberty?

Some tattoos that believers obtain are faith-based in content.

Thanks @D. Adrien for the 'like'.

I do think that for the believer tattoo/piercing parlors can be either a distraction or an opportunity. The way it works for one person may work differently for others. The demand for it is huge, certainly.

Paula Castle took up tattooing after being made redundant from a sales job ..."I really did not want to do it. ...But I’m a bit of an all or nothing person so I said ‘yes’ and really pushed myself and I’ve not stopped...About 97% of my clients are female and that is universal across the board."

Anyway I've talked to various young ppl about the Bible verses that they have gotten shot in with ink, which often prompt conversations with other ppl; you've probably seen them too.

Here is another verse I recently ran across that may be related. It may not be as straight forward as the other one I posted earlier. Just something for people to think on.

Isa 49

16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

Hello  Farouk,

Neither does it mention is a former prostitute who now found Christ should remain wearing the same  exaggerated clothes,  exaggerated hairstyles, theatrical make-up,  jewellery, earrings, piercings, make-up, she did to attract her clients on the street in her former life before she made a commitment by faith to now lay all her  sins, former sin life at the cross of Calvary,  allow her former sinful self to die there with all its sin and begin a new life, with a fresh clean slate in Him and by and through His Word and His word alone.

What did Christ Jesus tell the prostitute?  Your sins are now forgiven, Go and sin no more lest something worse happens to you.   look to John ch8

The bible does in the New testament give directives that a christian woman should dress modestly, not dressing herself to get attention and praise to the fesh.

This is something that each of us need to bring to the Lord for rightful conviction and answers from Him and His Word.

Do not depend on mans answer to your question of what is right and wrong,

Go to God and ask Him in your private moments with Him and He will guide you to what is Right and what is wrong.

-

You know this all makes me think of a woman on youtube ( 3 times divorced and still thinking of perhaps one day re-marying) that likes to point out to everyone how much of a sinner they are, yet she herself wears outrages attention seeking clothes, costumes, earnings, rings, pearls,( YET CONDEMS TATOOS-LOL) Admitted to having one cosmertic surgery procedure due she said, to apparently a broken nose done by one of her former  ex-husbands. Changes weekly her long hair or wigs from platinum blonde to jet black, wears outrageous theatrical make-up ( looking really more like a drag queen) but justifying her look by saying I used to be a professional model and make up artist before I was saved. So that now, that makes it ok* in her mind , to keep doing herself up that way, because she just loves to look like that, and she justifies its in her rights because she is no longer under the Law.

Her teachings on forgiveness and caring for her parents and family members are just about as twisted as her views concerning her personal dress code. But no one can reach her, because the spirit of rebellion takes over.

She knows Gods Word and uses it to justify herself all the time.

You can't argue her , she will just block you or make your comment disappear, and will say openly on her youtube channel (that she controls) that whoever criticizes her dress apparel are just jealous, envious pharisees,  when in reality, she really just looks sad, cheap, pitiful. All that is left in ways of helping  is to just pray to God for her.

People wanting to keep living in sin, like to justify themselves saying they are no longer under the law.

As a christian we are no longer are under mans law but we still are under GODS Holy COMMANDMENTS.

Christ Jesus said if you LOVE ME do OBEY My COMMANDMENTS

Gods commandments DO NOT Change.

Do we truly Love Christ Jesus as we say we do?

if so, we will seek fervently and obediently to DO His Will that will bear Good fruit coming from Him

over doing flesh things will that can only satisfy the flesh and brings on death.

Romans 6:12-23

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to Him as instruments of righteousness.

Hi @NConly

Interesting verse there; thanks for posting. Seems like figurative language there.

The hand/wrist are is sometimes used for faith related ink.

Sometimes something simple and discreet and low key is opted for. In this case, above, the wearer's choice of a simple black complements the black nail color.

I think you have in mind something bigger.

Some Christians who definitely do want to have something faith-based shot in at a parlor procedure will be content with something rather small and discreet.

Yes, and the definite desire to get inked up is something that a lot of really conservative ppl are really sure about.

(It's a bit of a myth that it's supposedly the domain of 'liberal' ppl.)

I have no problem at all with tattoos. Yes they can glorify God and be used for his glory. The subject of the tattoo is what's either sinful or not.

@TrueFollowerOfChrist

The evidence out there is that so many Christians do indeed long to use the tattoo parlor to get inked up with something faith-based.

The evidence for widespread desire to have one's dermis pumped in with ink in faith-based designs seems quite overwhelming in some areas:

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
