Hi Charlie,

Well I do not know how I missed this topic.

I searched for "Letters to the 7 Churches" around the end of November but found nothing. Had I delayed my search a few weeks I would have found your post.

I began writing a paper on this topic and was almost finished when something happened with my computer and I lost it all. So back to square one. So frustrating that I neglected to save it. Live and learn!............ I'm in the process of rewriting it and should be finished soon.

Here are some points that are key understandings related to the 7 letters:

... The Letters to the 7 Churches (L7C) were written in apocalyptic language; there is no other section of the Bible that is related to Christian living written in this type of language

... The L7C's contain numerous Old Testament and New Testament references and symbols which apply to the end times

... Revelations purpose is to explain the Book of Daniel. The concept of including advice to local churches in John's time is out of place. ( I will explain this in my paper)

... There are numerous references within the L7C's to end-time events

... There were many more than just 7 churches in Asia Minor, some larger and more influential. Why were these seven singled out to receive instruction from Jesus.

Thanks for posting this topic.

Joe, I am soooooo sorry to hear you lost all your work. It must have been heart breaking!

I hope you will be able to share your thoughts on Revelation—- Although I know nothing about Revelation, it does appear to have a definite structure to it.
I am spending my time trying to unlock that structure …

I also see the same thing you do… Daniel is prophetic while Revelation is looking back. I think just about all the symbols in Revelation are found in the OT- many from Daniel.

I have found that as one moves from chapter 1 through 12 in Daniel, God uses much more symbolic/ figurative / spiritual, etc., language. Certainly the earlier chapters have actors and events that can be found in our history books. But not so in the later chapters as they include prophecies about the Messiah  and His plan of salvation. This is why (imo) so many interpretations in Daniel are wrong- folks continue to apply the “historical” approach to interpret Daniel in all 12 chapters.

I think Revelation is perhaps entirely symbolic, and it looks backwards, so it will require a very special and very difficult approach to unpack it.

Another thing… not sure of course, but just as with Daniel, I expect Revelation is not written in a chronological manner. In many chapters of Daniel there is a “dream or vision like” section (first section of a chapter that is a “summary” of what will take place and a second section labeled an “interpretation” section that offers the details that must be placed WITHIN the “summary” section- hence, not in chronological order.

i am wondering if the many “7’s” found in Revelation are not chronological events but may serve as “detail like” events that should be placed within a particular “summary” section…

Well, you can see from this response just how difficult and confusing this book of Revelation is coming across to me.

But the one thought I came away with after studying / writing the “New Interpretation of Daniel” is that if it did not happen in Daniel, it will not happen (be found) in Revelation. Daniel shows us what will take place so Revelation cannot conflict between Daniel … it may just be like the difference in Daniel between chapters 2,7 and 8—— God is writing about the same 4 kingdoms but used very different symbols. I believe Revelation is / will be the same only it will bring forward those symbols found throughout the OT.

I certainly look forward to any of your thoughts and interpretations on Revelation. Are you intending to write your own commentary?

Thanks again Joe and best wishes always, Charlie

Could these 7 churches serve as the "structure" where the remaining chapters in Revelation are placed? I have a feeling the 7 seals, 7 trumpets and the 7 bowls might be 3 different views that take place during these 7 churches...?

Any thoughts?

Revelation 4:1 answers your question quite clearly:

Revelation 4:1 After these things I [John] looked, and behold, a door having been opened in heaven. And I heard the first voice which I [had] heard as of a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show thee things which must take place after these things.

After WHAT things? The things (thus the times) of the 7 churches. Ending with the Laodicean era:

" Immediately “after these things” of this materially-wealthy but spiritually-unprofitable church of Revelation 3, there will come the events of Revelation 4:1 and following, wherein God’s throne of judgment is set in place, being surrounded by the 24 Elders. We can reasonably conclude that those things are near to come, because this latter-day church has been corrupting itself and diminishing before our eyes. "

Dougg, I believe you have this backwards. The papacy was considered the little horn up to the Reformation. The RCC commissioned a Jesuit priest named Ribera to construct an alternative interpretation to their being viewed as the little horn. Please google this priest - he is not a fabrication.

There is no “anti-Christ” individual, but the evil one is very real - and God has identified him in Daniel 7,8,9, and 11.

How can the papacy be the little horn when Daniel clearly specifies it to emerge from Greece?

Yes there is an anti-Christ individual.

First. This is the correct translation of 1John 2:18...

“Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that THE Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour”.

The word THE IS in the originals.

He Will Blaspheme God
He Claims to be God and is Worshiped

He Will Display Miraculous Powers

The Anti-Christ Comes Back to Life

The Anti-Christ Rules in Full Authority

The Anti-Christ will Control the Economy of the Arab World

The Anti-Christ Desecrates God’s Temple

The Anti-Christ’s Attempts the Destruction of Israel

He Causes Mid Eastern Armies to Fight Against Christ

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
