Reminders – Nothing new

I should know better than to greet my best friend with the words, “What’s new?” because his response is always the same, “there’s nothing new under the sun.” Ecclesiastes 1:9 He’s right, and it is true. As in the garden of Eden, Satan still twists the Word of God, using it to tell half-truths to deceive people. Even so, God is still faithful to fulfill His promises, the wages of sin is still death, and the gift of God is still eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. There truly is “nothing new under the sun.”

A common remark among us old grayheads around here is, ‘It seems the older I get, the less I know about God.’ But that statement isn’t true. The reality is that we know a lot more now than when we first got saved. But we realize that in comparison to our present knowledge, God is a lot bigger, wiser, and more complex than we ever thought at the first, though the Gospel is still the same simple truth. Jesus died to pay for our sins, was buried, and rose again to give eternal life to whosoever believes it. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Peter talked about it this way, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, according as his divine power has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him that has called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature…For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth…to stir you up by reminding you…” 2 Peter 1:2-4, 12-15

Final Thoughts: I call these weekly writings, ‘Reminders’ rather than ‘Pat’s New Revelations’ because there is no new revelation or teaching to be added to or taught concerning the things of Jesus Christ. These are just reminders of the truths already revealed to us in the completed Word of God, the Bible. I say completed, because when the last book of the Bible was finished, God included a warning that the plagues listed in the book of Revelation would be added to those who add to the words of His inspired Word, and those who subtract from it will have their part taken away out of the book of life. Revelation 22:18-19 We, like Peter, are to simply remind each other of the things we already know, building each other up in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:20 To exhort each other to continue in the faith unto love and good works. Hebrews 10:24-25 To do the things God has called us to do. Ephesians 2:10 And to comfort each other with the knowledge that our light afflictions will soon be over, 2 Corinthians 1:3-11; 4:16-18 as we look to eternal things and the coming of the Lord Jesus. John 14:2-3                                ph

However, there was one who came from the realms above and He revealed wonders that man never knew of. He revealed the Father`s heart and His great purpose.

It's just my 2₵ and not a dollar's worth.  😊

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. (Ecclesiastes 1:9)

This verse is pregnant with meaning and its application in many ways. The definition is all-encompassing and all-inclusive, in my opinion. Nature, weather, and the seasons are cyclic; human history and nations are cyclic; sin, the human condition, human activity, and depravity are cyclic; the paths (orbits) of the universe are cyclic, and so on. Or, the fundamental events of life (birth, marriage, work, death, etc.) remain unchanged. What about the NEW birth? In context to Ecclesiastes, is this something new?

Do you think this verse applies to the spiritual realm, physics, humanity, the human condition, and remedy? Would it apply to both pre and post-deluge? Considering the Six-Day creation account, Genesis 6:1-4, the earth was watered by vapor, and it never rained, thunderstorms, hurricanes, no polar ice caps, etc. Were those new?

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. (Luke 17:26)

I have wondered why Jesus cited his example two millennia ago in the pre-diluvian period. Eating, drinking, building, marrying, and giving in marriage also occurred post-deluge. Whatever it turns out to be, it will be repeated.

Good thoughts and questions Dennis. I don't know the answers but am of the opinion that as a general rule there is nothing new. As you pointed out concerning the cycles of life and the universe all continue to repeat. But then we see 2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." So indeed, the NEW birth is unique to an individual but not to mankind, in that being born again is a work of God and has been happening for millennia to those who have believed the Gospel. We also see Jesus being tempted in all points like as we are (nothing new) yet those today who are tempted by drug use, internet porn etc. are experiencing a new form of temptation but the basic form and root of temptation is the same, "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. :15  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death." James 1:14-15 I suppose we could cite a multitude of examples of new things but the basics are the same. All men are dead in Adam and are made alive in Christ by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Blessings.

I am amazed at how many reminders I have to have!  But that's why He placed us in the body, that we could continually remind each other of the riches in His word, that the gift of God with in us could be fanned into flames over and over and over!  With being in this flesh (which continually reminds us of the lie), we need the saints and His word to remind us of the reality of who we really are and of the awesome power of Christ Who is one with our spirit!

When lust has conceived it bringeth forth children.

I never thought of it that way before but it is true. The trick for us is not to let the lust be implanted, then there will be no children.

But it is in lust that we are all conceived and if not then why we have P? Or YCF? The comand was to multiple and fill the earth that your descendants will never be extinct. God made the people that way. The people managing them selves it's their business. God wants everyone and all the children. All the children. Look in the Sinai Covenant the children born to them in any way in marriage or our of marriage were the Lord's and they had to Circumcised them or mark them so they will know even if they go to captivity and get seperated they will know. Even the children of their bond servants or their servants born in their households were the Lords. No matter what the conditions were. And the blessings to Abraham was that your descendants will never be extinct till the coming of the one who will fulfill the blessings promises to Abraham. Do you know what are they? This is why the brother @Dennis1209 said that they knew a lot of things and they will know a lot of things the Sun knew figuratively speaking because they are there and eventually they will find them out as the other starts and or the other continents and their mountains and their seas and all the other species of Life the Sun figuratively speaking knows about them day in and day out because the sun shines over them. But the Sun does not know the thoughts of God and the plans of God and the things above where his light cannot shine or not needed. And the sun knows nothing about the things bellow the earth, definitely the ignorance of the sun figuratively it has been known to man and anyone who has a microscope can tell you that we have see and learn those things from the microscope. We only need Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit that represents Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ the only way to the Heavenly Father.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
