This is a common misconception among well-meaning Christians. Have you actually looked up the occurrences of these titles?

The title "King of kings" is found in Ezra 7:12 referring to Artaxerxes of Persia; Ezekiel 26:7, referring to Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and Daniel 2:37, referring to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. It's a term that means a King over other kings; that is, he is an Emperor!

More importantly, it is also found in 1 Timothy 6:15 and Revelation 17:14 and 19:16.

The title "Lord of lords" is found in Deuteronomy 10:17, referring to YHWH God; and Psalm 136:3, also referring to YHWH God.

Again, it is also found in 1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 17:14 and Revelation 19:16.

Here, this title refers to a Master of masters, an OVERLORD! This is also talking about the superior mastery of YHWH God! It is also associated with the title "God of gods!" that is a God over all other lesser gods.

Let's look at the New Testament occurrences:

1 Timothy 6:11-16 (KJV)

11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and [before] Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14 That thou keep [this] commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 15 Which in his times he shall shew, [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom [be] honour and power everlasting. Amen.

So, the Messiah Yeeshuwa` (Christ Jesus) :"shall show [who is] the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; who only has immortality, DWELLING IN THE LIGHT WHICH NO MAN CAN APPROACH UNTO; WHOM NO MAN HATH SEEN, NOR CAN SEE!"

So, Yeeshuwa` REVEALS that the King of kings and Lord of lords is YHWH GOD, His Father!

Revelation 17:12-14 (KJV)

12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast. 13 These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength unto the beast. 14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him [are] called, and chosen, and faithful.

This follows Revelation 11:

Revelation 11:15 (KJV)

15 And the seventh angel sounded (trumpeted); and there were great (loud) voices in heaven (in the sky), saying, 

"The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our LORD, and of his Christ (Messiah); and he (the LORD) shall reign for ever and ever!"

The Messiah shall be PUT IN CHARGE of God's Kingdom, because He is God's MESSIAH, God's ANOINTED ONE to represent Him as King!

So, Revelation 17 shows that God has placed His Son, Yeeshuwa` the Messiah, in His role as King of Kings - the World Emperor - until all of His enemies are subdued! This matches with 1 Corinthians 15:23-28, Luke 1:30-33, Psalm 2:1-12, and with our final passage, Revelation 19:11-16:

11 And I saw heaven (the sky) opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him [was] called "Faithful (Trustworthy)" and "True," and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes [were] as a flame of fire, and on his head [were] many crowns (head over many nations); and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he [was] clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called "The Word of God."

14 And the armies [which were] in heaven (in the sky) followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God (His FATHER). 16 And he hath on [his] vesture and on his thigh a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Also, these verses are supported by Yeeshuwa`s own words in Matthew 25:31 and Luke 19:11-15:

"'Occupy till I come.'

14 "But his citizens (the Pharisees)  hated him, and sent a message after him, saying,

"'We will not have this [man] to reign over us!'

15 "And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, THEN he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading. ..."

The conclusion is this: Yeeshuwa` is NOT CURRENTLY REIGNING! He will begin His reign AFTER He has returned to earth!

Furthermore, there is a SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE between Yeeshuwa`, the Son of God, and YHWH God, His Father! Many Christians are SO enamored with the doctrine of the Trinity, that they FAIL to recognize this difference! They gloss over the significance because they see Yeeshuwa` ("Jesus") as "God the Son," even though that title is NEVER used in the Scriptures! It comes SOLELY from theology or theological philosophy! However, Yeeshuwa` HIMSELF noted the differences between Himself and His Father! Read John 5 for how Yeeshuwa` noted the difference!

Context is everything. Why was Paul making these points in Romans 2? To whom was he speaking? In his first letter to the Corinthians, he also said,

1 Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? 2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters? 3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? 4 If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. 5 I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren? 6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather [suffer yourselves to] be defrauded? 8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that [your] brethren. 9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? My daughter and son in law visited NYC a few weeks ago.  

They were cautioned by New Yorkers to NOT ride the trains (subways) because they are too dangerous.   They walked quickly through Times Square and decided they wouldn't go near there again.  Times square is full of filthy weed smoke, needles and panhandlers.  It stinks - literally.

I visited my uncle in Danville, CA. recently.  

Thinking it would be a good idea to take the Metro light rail commuter train into San Francisco from Danville to do some sightseeing, I was told not to go there.  All the station platforms are full of homeless, feces, needles and assorted small criminal types.  The downtown areas is littered with closed store fronts. He showed me other places to visit.

The same is true for every major city in the United States and many medium sized ones.  America used to be a country with beautiful cities, but no more.  Filth and criminal activity rule the land.

No miracle ever performed on earth could reverse the trends that have seized a country that's become godless - America.

We have falsely persuaded ourselves that if we pray for heaven's help there will be a reversal of our fortunes.  That is a false hope today, because America doesn't want heaven's help, neither does it or any church want to abide by or respect God's Holy LAW.  Being thus convinced that lawlessness is the way, we are sinking into our own filth and decay.  God will not help those who turn their backs upon Him and disrespect Him at every opportunity.

Dreams notwithstanding, the Tribulation has already happened.  

Antisemitic gentiles refuse to acknowledge the crime against humanity that was perpetrated in the Holocaust as well as its historic significance in any form of eschatology.  This is one reason why I left the church.  There are far too many bloodthirsty unjust church types that simply will not lose their hatred of Jews and their false notions of what is COMING upon us.

Its long past time when our churches should preach REPENTANCE, but the major denominations refuse to do so.  I've spoken to preachers and ministers who've told me its not the kind of subject they want to speak about.

An old woman of 90 from Valdres in Norway had a vision from God in 1968. The evangelist Emanuel Minos had meetings (services) where she lived. He had the opportunity to meet her, and she told him what she had seen. He wrote it down, but thought it to be so unintelligible that he put it in a drawer. Now, almost 30 years later, he understands he has to share the vision with others.

The woman from Valdres was a very alert, reliable, awake and credible Christian, with a good reputation among all who knew her. This is what she saw:

"I saw the time just before the coming of Jesus and the outbreak of the Third World War. I saw the events with my natural eyes. I saw the world like a kind of a globe and saw Europe, land by land. I saw Scandinavia. I saw Norway. I saw certain things that would take place just before the return of Jesus, and just before the last calamity happens, a calamity the likes of which we have never before experienced.

She mentioned four waves:

1. "First before Jesus comes and before the Third World War breaks out there will be a ‘détente’ like we have never had before. There will be peace between the super powers in the east and the west, and there will be a long peace. (Remember, that this was in 1968 when the cold war was at its highest. E. Minos) In this period of peace there will be disarmament in many countries, also in Norway and we are not prepared when it (the war) comes. The Third World War will begin in a way no one would have anticipated - and from an unexpected place.

2. "A lukewarmness without parallel will take hold of the Christians, a falling away from true, living Christianity. Christians will not be open for penetrating preaching. They will not, like in earlier times, want to hear of sin and grace, law and gospel, repentance and restoration. There will come a substitute instead: prosperity (happiness) Christianity.

"The important thing will be to have success, to be something; to have material things, things that God never promised us in this way. Churches and prayer houses will be emptier and emptier. Instead of the preaching we have been used to for generations -like, to take your cross up and follow Jesus, - entertainment, art and culture will invade the churches where there should have been gatherings for repentance and revival. This will increase markedly just before the return of Jesus.

Much uncleanness before marriage, and much infidelity in marriage will become the natural (the common), and it will be justified from every angle. "TV will be filled with such horrible violence that it teaches people to murder and destroy each other, and it will be unsafe in our streets. People will copy what they see. TV will be just like the radio where we have many ‘stations,’ and it will be filled with violence. People will use it for entertainment. We will see terrible scenes of murder and destruction one of the other, and this will spread in society. Sex scenes will also be shown on the screen, the most intimate things that takes place in a marriage." (I protested and said, we have a paragraph that forbids this kind of thing. E. Minos.) There the old woman said: "It will happen, and you will see it. All we have had before will be broken down, and

Visions and dreams do NOT  replace accepted interpretation of scripture.

This includes popular Dispensationalist theories as well as a lot of secularized predictions now accepted by the post-modern church.

WWII was the most violent destructive war in human history.   Over 85 Million human beings died during those years, including six million Jews.  Are you honestly suggesting we should look forward to more such war, more destruction and more meaningless loss of life?  Only those who hate humanity and love war would welcome such a scenario.  I absolutely reject such an interpretation...such a possibility.

Every industrialized nation on this planet is heavily engaged in the manufacture and production of war material.   The sale of equipment and ammunition is greater than at any other time in history.  

In the 1990's when Soviet Communism collapsed, America began to look for somebody else to attack.  911 was conjured out of 1960's war plans (Operation Northwoods - rejected by President Kennedy at the time) and put in action.  The result was the current state of endless war in which America is deeply involved (USA now engaged in 6 to 8 wars and shadow wars as of this writing).  It's wrecking our economy and our hope for the future.  

When Jesus arrives on this planet His administration will be VERY unpopular because He will bring peace.   Think about that.

In the 1990's when Soviet Communism collapsed, America began to look for somebody else to attack.  911 was conjured out of 1960's war plans (Operation Northwoods - rejected by President Kennedy at the time) and put in action.  The result was the current state of endless war in which America is deeply involved (USA now engaged in 6 to 8 wars and shadow wars as of this writing).  It's wrecking our economy and our hope for the future.  

When Jesus arrives on this planet His administration will be VERY unpopular because He will bring peace.   Think about that.

Everyone wants peace in my country. We were neutral in WWI, tried to be neutral in WWII. It's not obliged to go to the army anymore since the 90s or so. Disarmament, just like that woman from Norway said.

It doesn't matter what anyone wants. Jesus already said there will be wars. If Russia attacks Israel in the end He will kill them.
