Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post (my apologies for this late reply)

Please understand that I am not trying to promote VP Kamala  or Former President Trump  or Mr. Kennedy  or anyone else. 

I am not american.. and it is up to americans to decide who they wish to elect as president.  

My concern / puzzlement is in the questioning of ethnicity of someone (any party) who is mixed race..   Almost like they have to choose just one side perhaps?  I don't understand that?

For example : The question along the lines of .. Is she Indian or is she black?    Many people outside the Usa would automatically answer that with the word 'both'.  But I am wondering if that answer is considered unacceptable in the Usa and if so why?  I don't get it?

 

um..  I am not sure how to explain what I mean..  so if it is ok  I would like to give a hypothetical example..  even though it is not about the same thing?  ( very sorry if example seems silly.. )

 

A Hypothetical Situation :

If there is a lady who is say  both a teacher as well as a mother of young children..

Question :  If she was asked.. 'who are you?'  Or 'what do you do? ' .. how should she answer?

If she says she is a teacher.. she might get criticised for not saying she is a mother..  

If she says she is a mother.. she might get criticised for not saying she is a teacher..

If she says she is both a teacher and a parent ..  perhaps some folk might simply not believe her.. or might expect her to choose just one description of herself....

How does she answer?  When she is actually both?

 

On the other hand.. how might she refer to herself when speaking to different groups of people....?

If she was speaking to a group for parents of young children.. perhaps she might refer to herself as a fellow parent..

But if she was speaking to a group of educators at a national teaching conference.. perhaps she might refer to herself as a fellow teacher etc.

This does not automatically mean that this hypothetical lady is denying the other aspect/s of her identity..  but rather she is emphasising what she has in common with the group she happens to be speaking to at the time..

This is different than someone delibrately denying  part of their identity.. or trying to hide it..

 

Someone can be both a mother and a teacher.. at the same time..

- Someone can also be two different ethnicities .. at the same time.. (e.g.  half one ethnicity and half the other ethnicity)..

Why should someone in the Usa be forced to choose just one side or the other?  When they are actually both?

I don't understand?

 

Sorry.. I truly truly mean no offence with the hypothetical example or my post..

Ethnicity doesn't bother us.... whatever you are is fine!!!

The problem comes when Kamela Harris changes her ethnicity in order to get votes from different crowds of voters.

When she addressed black audiences...she changed her voice to sound black and Southern!!!   Then when she is with mainly white people, she loses that accent!   LOL.   

We are just making a point that she is being deceptive, depending on who she is addressing.

Also, when she addressed a black crowd in Atlanta....she had a famous twerking rapper in order to get a crowd.   It was a rather vulgar display (bunch of twerking women on stage).... although they said some words of the song were toned down.   (Vulgar song).

Some black people are taking offense at her phoney black, Southern accent when she addresses blacks.   Also, some were offended at Kamala bringing a twerking rapper in for a black rally.
