1 Peter 4:

17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God;

and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those

who do not obey the gospel of God?

18 Now

“If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God

commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.

Where does obedience to the Gospel begin?

A divestiture in worldly interests.

2 Thessalonians 1:

7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus

shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God,

and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction

from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints,

and to be admired in all them that believe because our testimony

among you was believed in that day.

The problem is that no one knows what the gospel is. It's scandalous that we are in a belief system that has lost its central belief.

Would you please identify that central belief?

and what has replaced that belief?

As for a definition for the Gospel:

Romans 1:

The Just Live by Faith

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,

for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes

for the Jew first and also for the Greek.

17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith;

as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Thanks for sharing.

Rom 1:16 describes the resulting benefit of the Gospel, not what it is. So sad that the central teaching of Christianity is not known, as seen just now.

An example of a similar situation is this :

My favorite aunt left me her house in her will. That's the good news.

My bank can permit the loan I need for my medical procedure to be released, now that I can provide collateral. This is the resulting benefit of the good news.

Also I can go to college with the same loan. Another benefit.

After College, I can open my accounting office. Another benefit.

And so on.

So the resulting benefits have replaced the Gospel.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Salvation is a central issue. Yeshua means "The Lord is salvation".

Ephesians 1:13 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.

What I advocate for in the preaching of the Gospel is this

key point that is often neglected and aligns with 1 John 4:

John 20:

30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence

of His disciples, which are not written in this book;

31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,

the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

You are off topic here and offering nothing edifying by your criticisms.

If you would like to continue in this topic discussion, please answer

the question posed in the title. No one can test your spirit when you

have not stated your belief. Go for it!

Of course, many believe the Gospel is summed up by John 3:16.

At the end of the day, "the power of God for salvation to all who believe"

is not based on a "belief system", it is coming to know our Savior

personally and intimately that He may manifest in and through us.

Philippians 3:10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection,

and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.

Ah! There is another central issue of the Gospel, the Resurrection.

What you are calling a lack of knowledge concerning the Gospel,

I simply see unbelief, rejection of Truth, and a preference for darkness.

John 3:

20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come

to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

21 But he who does the truth comes to the light,

that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.

You say I have avoided responding to the OP, which states that hearing is not enough, obedience is required. However, you have not clarified What the gospel is.

Before I proceed with so clarifying, I would like to say that our views must have a methodology for confirming which is the correct view. Otherwise, it will result in a "He said, she said" situation.

Would you agree that the correct view is the one with the most coherence, and the most support?

Not really Mr. M..."salvation" is the beginning of our spiritual life...the "central issue" is growing up and being "formed" in Christ likeness.

Tatwo...:)

Scriptural support sure="at the testimony of two or three witnesses".

You have not.

Neither have you. Quite the impasse. You refuse to answer the question until I provide a definition of the Gospel that meets your standard. FYI it is defined by the articles of faith of the forum which you agreed to. If you feel they are in error, address your concerns to the site.

Ok, so your gospel is that Jesus is our salvation. Obedience to the Gospel is do good deeds. See, it isn't coherent. There is no command in your gospel. Therefore, we don't know what we have to be obedient to.

Secondly, the same gospel was announced to Abraham, and to the Exodus group. What was the command there? And how did they obey?

Gal 3.8, Heb 4.2

After you reply, I will show coherence and support for the alternative view.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
