CH Spurgeon said, There is more glory in the Cross than in the manger.

Our Scriptural knowledge of the Person of Christ is really inseparable from our Scriptural knowledge of His work at the Cross.

In the Gospel of John we learn that Jesus Christ is the Life. He was the only one who was in the Life of God.

Jesus has the same Life as the Heavenly Father.

Is there something that is in the way to understand that?

@Your closest friendnt There is indeed overwhelming evidence in Scripture - especially the New Testament - for the doctrine of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit - often referred to as the Trinity.

@missmuffet Take away His death at the Cross and the revelation of Him in Scripture would be gutted and fabricated.

Do you believe the comforter (Joh 16:7) is the Spirit of Christ Who indwells the members of His Body?

You said…..“So going to the cross meant redemption; then going through the cross (in resurrection) meant His life-giving Spirit is now available to come live in us and be our life!

Paul said now the Lord is that Spirit yet Christ after resurrection said He wasn’t spirit (Luk 24:39) but flesh and bone thus Jesus was transfigured (glorified) at ascension. When the veil …His physical body… is removed He returns to His glorified being at ascension before he became flesh.

Heb 10:20  By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

2Co 3:16  Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
2Co 3:17  Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Jesus made it clear with this statement.. Joh 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit

Christ had to return to the life giving Spirit before He could indwell believers, it was certainly impossible for Him to indwell in physical form.

I don't see any clear distinction, and the discussion of who lives is us is, to be sure, a pretty mysterious thing (yet also simple - Christ).  One place in scripture that highlights this is Romans 8:10-11:

"But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you."

So, in my mind at least, not so easy to define . . . (at least for me)

I agree. This thread seems to be centered on The Cross but the mission of Jesus involve several task that had to be done in a specific order imo

Hi VA,

I have replied however I`ll write some more details.

1. Christ came to become the last Adam to legally have dominion over the earth.

2. Christ came to be Israel`s king legally from the line of David.

3. Christ came to bring the Old Testament saints to heaven to wait for their inheritance in the New Jerusalem that would eventually go down to the Universal area to be the administrative center of the universe bringing together the spiritual and physical realms.

4. Christ came to be the Head of His Body that would be like Him and rule from the third heaven on His own throne.

5. Christ came to be the Worthy one who would rule over all of God`s great Kingdom.

6. Christ came to defeat the enemy and legally take back all that Satan had usurped.

7. Christ came to do the Father`s Will.

So many things were accomplished at the cross!  Additionally, He terminated old Adam and the old creation.  And He then was able to put His life into those who accept Him!  And so, so much more -  what a rich inheritance we have in Christ!

The Epistle to the Hebrews shows so much that is fulfilled in Christ.

I see the Comforter and the life-giving Spirit and the Spirit of Jesus Christ as synonymous.  Otherwise it would seem that we would have both the Comforter AND Christ as separate Ones living in us.  But what Paul tells us repeatedly is just Christ in us.

Of course, this leads into a discussion of the exact characteristics of the Triune God (is He 3 in 1 or 1 in 3? - my answer is "yes"), which discussion I deem to be above my pay grade.

@Vine Abid

Because we are sealed with the Spirit of Christ it not the same as Christ making our abode in us. This needs to be discussed.

Yes, however that was just one part of His journey - a means to an end.  What was He after ultimately

Christ was slain before the foundations of the earth [came into being], but just because God foreknows everything, doesn't mean that was the ultimate plan, God's plans have to go with the flow of mankind's willingness to obey Him.

If Israel had repented and accepted Christ as their Messiah, then the 70 AD events would have see Jesus return to set up his Kingdom Age/1000 year reign at that time, but of course God knew they would not repent "AT THAT TIME....they will repent soon" and thus God gave the mantle of taking the Gospel unto the whole world unto the Gentile Church.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
