WASHINGTON (Worthy News) – U.S. President Donald J. Trump told reporters Thursday there were no survivors after Wednesday’s midair collision between an American Airlines passenger plane and a military helicopter that killed 67 people.

Trump also suggested that air controllers at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, located near the crash site, may have been unfit to prevent the disaster due to the “diversity policies” of the previous Biden administration.

After asking reporters at the White House that he wanted to begin with “a moment of silence for the victims and their families,” he said: “There are no survivors. We grieve for every soul. We are a country in mourning. I speak with you in an hour of anguish. Both planes crashed immediately in the Potomac River.”

He stressed that “talented Russian people” were also on board, referring to world-champion skaters and other athletes. “The country is mourning for them,” he said, adding that the United States would enable the human remains to be flown to Russia despite current flight sanctions over its war in Ukraine.

Trump lashed out at former President Joe Biden, saying his administration encouraged people with mental and physical disabilities to apply for air control services.

“I heard the tapes. American Airlines came in, and then you had a military helicopter. You had a pilot problem there. They should not have been at the same height. Someone should have been able to point that out. You had a confluence of bad decisions.”

His Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said, “We will not accept excuses.”

MARIT BASED HIRING

U.S. Vice President JD Vance said he understood his boss’s concerns about diversity policies. “We want to hire the best people at air traffic control. Good people were sent away because of the color of their skin.”

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth echoed that sentiment. He also said that the Black Hawk helicopter that crashed was on a training mission. “There was some kind of elevation. I want to express my condolences,” he said, adding that an investigation is ongoing.

He earlier confirmed that nobody survived the midair collision, saying: “It is going from a rescue mission to a recovery mission,” about the operations in the Potomac River where the planes crashed.

“It is a tragedy, a horrible loss of life,e for those 67 souls on that civilian airliner and, of course, the three soldiers in the Black Hawk Helicopter. They are in our prayers, their families, and their communities, as people are being notified,” Hegseth added.

The tragedy comes 16 years after a Bombardier DHC-8 propeller plane crashed into a house near Buffalo, New York, on February 12, 2009.

All 45 passengers, including four crew members, were killed, along with one person on the ground.

um..  I happened to watch that press conference on tv ..  either partly or in full..  and I don't understand what the issue is regarding people with disabilities?

I don't know much at all about air controller services.. so please correct me if I am wrong....   But if being an air traffic controller means sitting in front of a computer screen etc..  why would it be wrong if someone sat on a wheelchair in front of the computer screen.. instead of on an office chair?  ..  What difference does that make? .. As long as the person has the skills and aptitude to do the job really really well??

I don't understand the problem?

Also if someone with say Down syndrome etc.. were to work in an assisting type job there.. such as say making coffee or helping to use the photocopy machine etc..  would that be considered wrong..  and if so why?

Sorry.. but.. I dont fully understand the problem?

Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with hiring people with disabilities unless you are doing so to meet a hiring quota over hiring the most qualified candidates, and that is what DEI quota hiring is about.

“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website states. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism.” -- American Military News

I don't know about you, but I think most of the physical and mental categories listed above should be avoided when hiring air traffic controllers, specifically.  I want air traffic controllers who can see, hear, and who are not fully paralyzed, for example.  I don't want them to have severe intellectual disabilities (mental age of a 3-6 year old), and I most certainly don't want the very best candidates pushed aside so that a hiring quota can be met.

I agree. An Air Traffic Controller has a very stressful job and if you have any issues that could prevent you from doing that job then they shouldn't be hired. Different disabilities could affect the way you perform on the job. You have to be extremely focused at all times.

Patti and sparks..  thanks very much for trying to help me understand better..

I came across this fact check article that has some info.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cwyeg61pnl5o

If I understand correctly.. for air traffic controllers.. disabled candidates would need to meet the same aptitude, medical and security standards as the other candidates?

Thanks.

Yeah, it's not about hiring unqualified people to fill roles. It's about affording opportunity for people that are qualified but are traditionally ignored for these roles. I would like to think that the government institutions should make an attempt to mirror the percentage make-up of the general population

Good point.

In my country.. when I was growing up.. there weren't many job opportunities for people with disabilities..

People with disabilities were often expected by society to just stay at home.. or if they did have a job it was often only limited types of jobs that was available for them..

Even if someone with say a physical disability were to pursue tertiary qualifications .. even up to PhD level..  it could be very difficult for them to get a relevant job especially in the private sector..  because many employers might be reluctant to hire *anyone* who has a disability..  (regardless of their qualifications or ability to do the job)..

So governments might often need to step up and make job opportunities available for people with disabilities.. so that they at least get such a chance..

Just my personal thoughts.

Thanks.

Not according to the FAA.  What I posted was a quote about the FAA website.  And remember, liberal media fact checkers don't tell the truth.

That's the Liberal dream, but are you saying that under-qualified people have never been hired to meet a quota?

I watched a video in 2023 of Senator Cruz at a confirmation hearing for a new FAA Director, and the Senator asked the man array of questions to see if he was qualified to lead the FAA, and the man had absolutely ZERO experience in the industry, could not fly a plane, could not act as an air traffic controller, didn't repair planes, didn't manufacture planes, but he was a man of color.  He was a Biden pick.

Do you think someone else in the industry might have been a better pick for that job?

I would think just about anyone.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
