WorthyNews:Trump Admin Doubles Down On Cuts to USAID With Plan for 90% Reduction

(Worthy News) – The Trump administration wants to purge more than 90% of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s foreign aid contracts, in addition to approximately $60 billion in global U.S. assistance, according to a new memo.

The latest figures come from an internal memo obtained by the Associated Press.

Since President Donald Trump took office just over one month ago, he and the newly established Department of Government Efficiency have worked to drastically cut the agency’s spending, in part by laying off or terminating most of its staff.

A federal judge had issued a court order requiring the administration to release nearly $2 billion in foreign aid by Wednesday night, but Chief Justice John Roberts intervened and temporarily blocked the order.

Sunday night, the administration placed “all USAID direct hire personnel,” with some exceptions, on administrative leave globally, and announced that 1,600 employees would be let go. Employees working in the Ronald Reagan Building have been directed to retrieve their personal belongings, if applicable, in 15-minute supervised shifts on Thursday and Friday.

One of the lawsuits challenging the administration’s actions against the agency claims it is acting illegally because “the dismantling of USAID was not authorized by Congress” and is “inconsistent with statutes establishing and funding USAID.”

The Trump administration has consistently defended its actions, saying that President Donald Trump is rightfully acting within his power as chief executive and that district court judges have exceeded their authority by interfering with the president’s “basic executive authority.”

Thing is had USAID been created by Congress the court would be right, but it was created by executive order, not by Congress, and if it can be created by executive order it can be removed by it.

If it takes Congress to remove it, then it shouldn't have been created to begin with.

I am very sorry.  I truly mean no offence to my american brothers and sisters in Christ.  But I still don't understand why the shutdown of things vital for human life needed to be done so suddenly?  Instead of step-by-step or with more advance notice?

Please understand that I am not saying the Usa must fund the humanitarian projects overseas.  It is up to the Usa and americans to decide how they wish to spend their money.. 

My concern is with *how* the shutdown was /is carried out? 

Why not give people running vitally needed projects a little bit more time to find alternative sources of funding..  for things such as food or types of medicine /medical care that human beings need to survive?  Instead of just shutting things down so abruptly?

These are human lives at stake?

I don't know..  I just don't get it?

Because of two things, first, the bereaucrats are very heavily embedded, and if you do it slowly they will have more time to find ways to remain embedded and stop any attempts to remove them.

Second a huge portion isn't going to actually help anyone but push a left wing agenda and fund terrorism among other corrupt things, meaning the longer it's allowed to go the more damage it can do.

Doing it fast, like ripping a bandaid off, will indeed hurt in the short term, but in the long term is better for everyone.

I understand what you are saying. Many things are being approached now by Trump and Musk very aggressively. Although it is making many applauding what they are doing but others shaking their heads. God has this totally in control and it is in His divine planning for this world or He would not allow it to happen.

I understand doing things fast for things that are unimportant for human life..  But for things that are vital such as lifesaving medical care etc.. people even children might potentially die?

I read a day or so ago that some of the things that USAID was doing that really was helping people was moved over to the state department and was being sent out.   It was in the middle of a two-hour podcast with people I would trust, so I'd just recommend we give it a chance and see where it all goes.    The problem is that President Biden sent out a huge amount of money just before President Trump took office that has little to nothing to do with helping people.   It had to be stopped before it was actually transferred to the people in the other NGOs, where it could not be traced.   Donald really does care about these people and will not just let them die.
