Thanks VA.....and, To God be the Glory!!..

I often find myself praying to our Father in my morning time and putting various matters into His hand, but I call on the name of the Lord Jesus throughout my day.  All I know is there life in Jesus's name, as it says in John 20:31, and there's something to breathing His name and calling on the Lord Jesus.  To me it is a good way to "fan into flames the gift of God which is in [me]" (2 Tim 1:16) throughout my day.  I can say, "Lord Jesus I need You right now!" or "Lord Jesus fill me with Your life so I can experience your love for this person coming through me" or simply "Lord Jesus thank you" etc.

Acts 9:21 tells us that Saul persecuted ones he found calling on the name of Jesus.  The Corinthians called on the name of "our Lord Jesus Christ" in every place (1 Cor 1:2).  Therefore, I think calling His name often is a very good practice, since there is life in His name (John 20:31) and there is no other name given whereby we must be saved - not just once, but continually!  (Acts 4:12)

A very good topic. Years ago I had studied all the verses containing the phrase to  " call upon " the name of the Lord ( or similar wording). It appears that to " call upon the Lord" in the context of the verses is something that a person does after they have been  saved, in their time of prayer or supplication.

I think it just means to beseech Him for wisdom perhaps, or  to cry out to Him in  times if distress or unrest. Which seems to be a lot lately.

Yes, I don't believe calling on the name of the Lord Jesus is just referring to initial salvation.  Paul said in 1 Corinthians 1:2 that the saints there were calling upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ in every place!  And Acts 9:21 says this is how Saul found Christians to persecute - they were calling on the name of Jesus . . .

I initially studied the phrase because I believe that we are predestined by God to salvation, that's what I read in scripture. So when I was refuted for my belief with a verse like Romans 10:13, I looked further into it and it was a blessing.

I believe the Book of Life is literal, a legal recording, and an uncontested, perfect document. I cannot prove it, but possibly everyone’s name is initially written in the Book of Life. The following verse and elsewhere give me that thought.

2 Peter 3:9 (KJV) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

The Lord is omniscient, meaning He knew our choice from the beginning. Saying it another way, perhaps He gave us the benefit of the doubt. Everyone is a whosoever: No T.U.L.I.P. or predestination here, only omniscience, acceptance, or rejection of our substitutional death, justification, and atonement. Until we accept Christ, ask for the free gift of Salvation, and repent, we are at enmity (enemies) of the Lord.

John 3:16 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Blot or blotted out (exaleiphō) occurs 14 times in the KJV, and its context is to smear over, wipe off, or remove something that has already been written down.

Revelation 3:5 (KJV) He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

That dash between two dates on our grave markers represents what we did or did not do while still alive in human flesh, accepting or rejecting the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christians:  2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV) For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

The Lost: Revelation 20:13 (KJV) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

Just as in John 3:16, Romans 10:13 (KJV) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

A quick search indicates that the phrase, "Calling on the name of the Lord" (or "call") occurs 56 times in the bible.  The first instance is in Genesis 4:26 - "Then began men to call upon the name of the Lord (Yahweh)."

In both the Old & New Testaments we have, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."  (Rom 10:13 - slight variation in Joel 2:32 & Acts 2:21)

John 20:31 tells us, "Believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and that believing you may have life in His name."

And this wonderful verse in 1st Corinthians "To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints together with all those who in every place call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours."

So how do we do this - what is your experience with calling on the name of the Lord?

It was just a dream yet something the enemy would never say but in the dream He said "you do not invoke the name of Jesus enough" Now I don't know about others but He tends to use words I never speak. I had to go look it up haha. I had a idea you know of what it means but I never use it. In simple terms, "invoke" means to call upon or use something, usually a rule, law, or authority, to support or achieve something. It can also mean to pray or petition for something."  Yeshua/Jesus Christ.

That word can also mean delivered. Who so ever calls..  AMEN VA

There surely is life and power in the name of Jesus! I have experienced calling on His name to receive life and grace, that is, a supply from Him coming to me in His name.  It is something that many Christians don't seem to realize and His name is another arrow in the quiver toward the enemy.  And just breathing the name of the Lord Jesus from time to time, resets my mind on the Spirit and brings the spiritual more into focus . . . there is life in just calling on His name!

I have heard a number of testimonies by ones faced with demonic activity, who have caused the enemy to immediately flee just by proclaiming His name loudly --> LORD JESUS! (BTW - I also remember reading about ones who've encountered UFO type ETs and they have fled when the name of the Lord was evoked.)

Thank you Lord Jesus for your life-giving name, which we can call on whenever we want!

Song:

Dear Lord Jesus with our tongues

We gladly confess thy name -

To the glory of the Father God in heaven.

When we call that precious name

Darkness and death cannot remain . . .

For we get the very Person of that name!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
