We make our time according to how long it takes the earth to spin one time. The spin is gradually getting slower.

Not very much, but I think it takes about one and a half or two and a half years for us to add a second to the international time clock.

*interesting to note that this is yet another way to prove that the earth isn't billions of years old. If the earth is slowing down, that means it was spinning faster in the past. You can only go back so far before the earth is spinning too rapidly for life to exist.*
