It's so easy to become caught up in stuff sometimes when we could/should be using that time for prayer and reading the Word. Right on the mark!

Very good post and so true for the time we are living in.

The Lord knew this would happen. Our lives would be so crowded with work, material things, chasing empty dreams that do not fulfill us, that he created the solution to the dilemma. He knew Satan would crowd our lives with things that don't really matter.

He gave us one day a week to spend with Him to recharge our batteries and rest from the work week. A day to spend with just Him. No secular TV. No shopping, no paying bills, no banking. A day to spend in worship, reading and studying His word, taking a walk and admiring His beautiful creation. A day for family time to reconnect to each other and to God.

Praise God for protecting us from the schemes of Satan! We surely have an all knowing and loving Father who knows how to protect His children and keep them safe.

A couple of Scriptures to consider, Jesus says:

Lk 8:14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of [this] life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep [it], and bring forth fruit with patience.

Lk 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.

21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and [so] that day come upon you unawares.

21:35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Jesus equates being ovecome with the cares of this life with partying and drunkeness. Another interesting Scripture:

Mt 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?..............

6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.
