Gerioke, your post really confuses me.

The quotes are exactly the reason why I would continue on listening to metal. You message at the end is completely the opposite of the quotes.

**Matthew 15

11 Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.**

**15 There is nothing outside the man which, going into him, is able to make him unclean: but the things which come out of the man are those which make the man unclean.**

Maybe I am not getting this, maybe I am stupid, but this is my whole point here. Does listening to the music do any harm? I do not agree with the lyrics but I do love the music. I am not listening to anti god music and turning into someone thats anti god. Though many of you seem to think it will rub off on me. Humans are infact like that, but not all of us.

After listening to several metal bads that are anti god, some I like, some I dont, I am the same. I have not changed. Yet you say that metal lyrics are poison to my soul? Why? How could you say that after the quotes you just gave me?

I'm assuming you're a genuine believer and have a relationship with Christ. Have you prayed about wether or not

God would have you listen to these things? I realize that this seems like an overly simple solution but I would

encourage you to do so if you have not. The fact that you posted this here shows that you have at least some

concern about the issue. Perhaps there is some conviction about listening to things that you know God

wouldn't approve of? I'm sure God will reveal the truth to you about this. I believe it is sin to listen to music

like that but I am not here to judge you. Sincerely seek his will concerning the matter.

tdrehfal - Would god like the lyrical themes of some of the music I listen to? Of course not. Do I enjoy it even though I consider my self a christian? Yes. The music doesnt effect my faith. Wouldnt god want me to enjoy my life? I dont see this as going against god. These are not my opinions, they are the bands, and as stated I do not like the music because of the lyrics.

Wouldnt god want me to enjoy my life?

Seperate from this discussion of music.....

but what do you think the Lord truly wants for you? To enjoy life? Can you show that in scripture? What the Lord wants is for people to repent, to turn to Him, to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and be reconciled to Him.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 22:37-40)

Again, Im talking about this seperate from your music question. This is in regards to your walk with the Lord.

Yes, I do believe he would want us to enjoy life, after all he does claim to love us all so much, doesnt he. Does he not want us to enjoy life? If not, why? I have accepted jesus as my savior. Why do you seem to think my choice of music means I have problems with god himself? You dont say it of course, but its pretty clear.

It isnt your choice of music that leads me to think your relationship with the Lord is not quite what it could be. It is the other comments you made regarding the Lord, things like how you think He wants you to enjoy life, yet dont know any scriptural reference for that. I dont want to come across as heavy handed. That wasnt my intention. Please note that Im not trying to force you to accept a view on music. I was just hoping to see you have a closer relationship with the Lord. When you have that, then whether or not you need to get rid of your music is something you can ask Him. He has a way of letting us know when we need to change something in our lives.

1 Cor 6:12 All things are permissable but not all things are profitable.

You may not be sinning, but you may not be doing yourself any favours either.

Matthew 15

11 Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man; but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.

Mark 7: 14 And turning to the people again, he said to them, Give ear to me all of you, and let my words be clear to you:

15 There is nothing outside the man which, going into him, is able to make him unclean: but the things which come out of the man are those which make the man unclean.

I meant these quotes to show that you are probably not sinning.

The Lord spoke the universe into existance, so I believe there is power in the spoken word. Anti christian lyrics are like poison to your spirit.

Genisis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

I meant these quotes to show that anti-christian music is not good for you.

If we are faithful to God and our belief in Christ our saviour then how can we, who have been given free choice, listen to music that is patently against everything we believe in. Music in and of itself is not evil but surely listening to anti God stuff would be like attending an anti God rally.

Hi sjeu! I still read the first books of Harry Potter once in awhile but I kind of lost tastes when he started getting angry at the world and everything. I use to enjoy it but I just don't much anymore. I guess tastes change and so do point of views on things. As for the music lyrics, just be careful!!!! You are really strong I can tell but sometimes, the message is just grounded in your brain after awhile. It is different with a lot though. When I use to listen to country a lot, I just got really sad. Now, I have learned to just listen and not take it to heart. I still like KSBJ though! It is awesome! Got to go, class! Best Wishes. • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
