I've been thinking about how much time I spend getting worked up about what's going on in the world and how it conflicts with scripture. You look all through these forums and you see accusations, judgement and general disdain toward one another because of what we've read, seen or heard on the news. Would we not be better off praying for our communities and brothers and sisters abroad, and letting God handle the problems? The world continues to spiral downhill into chaos despite our preoccupation with the news.

At least 1/3 of the news topics are news items. How many arguments and accusations and name calling will come out of those threads? Is opinion on things of the world not an outlet for our egos to cast judgement? How many curses have been spoken against the left or the right in these forums alone? How many threads are dedicated to tearing another brother down simply because they don't see the world the same way way as the next guy?

Is this the reason that most news sources lean towards the left? satan knows how to manipulate the minds of us mere mortals, and it is becomeing clear to me that nobody is exempt.

Ok let me have it.

I think you're over thinking the issue. Most news leans to the left because those running the newsrooms have the silly notion that they (reporters) are like the dudes that broke the Watergate story; they are out make news, not simply report it. The fact is, reporters should just report the news, but more and more the line dividing news gathering/reading from news commentary is becoming harder to distinguish. I see two reasons for this: (1) people in general have become so dumbed down, they don't think critically anymore and would rather have somebody do their thinking for them; and (2) with the advent of the internet and almost instantaneous news from the amazing Matt Drudge and the dozens of reputable bloggers (Michelle Malkin, etc) people are not tuning into network news anymore, and newspaper subscriptions are falling fast. In an effort to bloster ratings, the networks and papers have sunk to broadcasting and publishing outlandish stories, often with a tiny grain of truth. They also report on what other news shows have reported on, which to me is hilarious.

Rush Limbaugh, who I really enjoy listening to, was a blessing and a curse to talk radio. He showed how profitable it was to combine news reporting and commentary in an entertaining manner. Then along came Hannity, O'Reilly, Laura Ingraham and a host of Rush wannabees. I think the mainstream media saw this, and again in an effort to win back an audience, began to, as I suggested above, put stories out there that are outlandish and highly suspect. Rathergate comes to mind, and the dudes who got caught inventing stories at the laughable New York Times. And what about the Koran-down-the-toilet story in USA Today, which was proven to be false, but because it was reported and not checked, resulted in the deaths of journalists and US soldiers.

The histrionics of David Gregory the other day demonstrates the arrogance of the White House Press Corp. I don't blame the Bush Admin. for sometimes barely tolerating them. Everybody runs around saying the public has a "right to know." Actually, they don't, in every case. Because of the leaked wire tapping story (again by the treasonous NY Times) the government can no longer use that very effective intelligence gathering tool. I mean, the terrorists read the papers, too.

As far as the WB posters like you and me, I enjoy the free exchange of ideas; I really like to hear (read) what you think and engage in a lively, civilized debate. I see nothing wrong with this. I have had a great time lately, being referred to as a Satanist, a hedonist, an anarchist and as of last night, a racist. Man, life don't get any better than that, does it! What can I say except that to know me is to love me.

Are you the one somebody called racist for a remark about Muslims? That's a hoot, because Islam is not an ethnic group, it's a religion. Calling someone racist for that shows great ignorance.

Oy vey. Yes, that's me. Just make sure you spell my name right when you quote me. It's Marnie, and not Marine.

The fact is, reporters should just report the news, but more and more the line dividing news gathering/reading from news commentary is becoming harder to distinguish.

Riiiiiiiight. It's much better to watch the always perky Katie Couric, right? lol Come on, a child can tell the Fox and Friends anchors are hams and NOT reporters. You are proving my point, though.

WANT THE REAL REASON WE DEBATE?

It's a form of fellowship. Do any of us really believe that someone's mind can be changed when it comes to politics and the code of ethics by which we abide?

Let me guess. You believe what the Michael Moore and moveon.org crowd thinks of Fox News, right? Funny how it's become the most watched, most highly rated, and (according to polls) most fair and balanced cable news network on the planet.

Geri - I agree with you!

As for Fox and Friends -

How are they different from Brian Gumbell (sp?). How was he not "indoctinating"?

If you agree with their positions, you love them

If you disagree with their positions, you hate them.

But truthfully, all reporters push their ideas on the public - if not flat out like Limbaugh and Fox & Friends and Brian G. - then with how they present, word and phrase what they report. The Liberal media is very good at that type of reporting, and it annoys the daylights out of me. (And that's my opinion as a conservative!)

I prefer watching Fox News because with them, I don't feel like punching the TV set! :whistling:

With CNN, NBC, etc., I do! :24:

uhh... no.

lol Come on, a child can tell the Fox and Friends anchors are hams and NOT reporters.

But they pretend to be. I wouldn't assume that it is so obvious that they are "hams"--especially to the naive who tune in faithfully.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
