Mel Gibson was interviewed on the Catholic channel,it was a terrific interview. He spoke with passion about "The Passion".Said he felt that the powers of darkness were coming against him on this movie. That his hope was for no one to leave the theatre unchanged.I personally can't wait to see it.I think whether there are sub-titles or not,we'll be able to follow it.

I need to see graphically what Christ Jesus gave for me.

:prayer

Glad to have found this board, btw.

God bless you.

That's correct! The movie is being made in the original languages of Hebrew, Latin and Aramaic,(no English), which was used during that time.

Seems that mostly Jews and Europeans will understand the script. Do you think many Jews will go see it? Maybe that's what the ADL is afraid of? Do you think that's what ole Mel had in mind? Seems that Mel is ministering to the Jews too! :t2: :blues:

Smasher, don't you think that the gospel should be taken to the jews?

I hope there are subtitles, I don't mind them, I love foreign films.

My worry would be if actors had to learn these languages on the fly as they were performing, and butcher them with bad accents. Also if the scriptwriters took the time to be sure the translations are done well, for those that have these languages as a native tongue.

It's like, imagine a Mexican film crew doing a movie about the Civil War and having to learn English to play their roles, and a scriptwriter that didn't understand all the nuances of the language, then subtitling it so it looks great in Mexico, but comical at best in America.

If it's geared for a Mexican audience, then the nuances of their culture might be necessary ...since that's the intended audience.

It's so funny when you consider culture...culture is way more important than most people know... go to another country & they then realize culture is everything.

Ask anyone in missions........ You go to another country and culture is one of the most important things you can know.

You have to understand what behaviors are strickly forbidden and frowned on...For example, in Indonesia, public kissing between a man and woman, (incuding married) would be utterly shocking...You'd stop traffic! They don't even kiss at a wedding. It would be an insult to the bride's family.

It's quite common for two men to walk arm and arm (or women) . That's "brotherly" and normal.... There's no "gay" assumption...it's a brotherly gesture.

Culture is super important and should be accurate ....and I would imagine they have a team of scholars who would give completely accurate verbatim ...if they are striving for this kind of perfection in filmmaking.

Also, if the Lord's hand is on this...I'll bet it'll be a masterpiece. :t2:

I certainly do traveller, without Christ they perish. Unfortunately it is they who do not think the gospel should be preached to them. I doubt that many of them will see the movie, but some will, so that's good. Anyway, we should pray for Mel and this work to be seen and understood by as many people as possible of all races and religions and for it to impact and change their lives. The theatres that show it would be good places to hand out gospel literature and do a little harvesting, don't you think?

Neither do athiests, agnostics, Buddhists, Muslims, . . . .

I don't know about you...but watching a foreign film and reading the subtitles, you tend to miss a little bit, because you're so focused into "reading" the movie as opposed to "watching" the movie! I agree with Mel...release it in theaters WITHOUT subtitles, and then when it comes to video...release it with subtitles. I don't want to miss anything because I was too busy reading and not paying attention to what was going on! (Although I already know what's going on!)

He's trying to PUT the moviegoer IN Jerusalem as if it were happening right then and there. It's as if he's trying to make it as realistic as possible! I understand completely what he's doing. I do however understand what others are saying...that it's hard to understand what's being said if you don't know the language. Especially for those who don't know the story!

Gotta hand it to Mel...he's determined to do what he knows is right in his heart. Not too many people would have the courage to stand up for what they believe in! My prayers are with him!

Actually I think the bishop of that persuasion is more controversial than the

movie. But, that's just my opinion of course.

Thanks. I hope you also have a great evening ( night here).

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
