President Bush was unaware that a controversial deal to sell shipping operations at six major U.S. seaports to a United Arab Emirates-owned firm was in the works until it was approved by his administration, the White House said Wednesday.

I heard tonight on Fox News that this deal was approved back in November. Now we (the public) are just learning about it.

And GW says he learned of it only a few days ago in the press like the rest of us.

So what are we to believe?

GW is out of the loop?

GW is a bit untruthful?

GW thinks we are all stupid?

All of the above?

I would say it is utterly IMPOSSIBLE that the president would not be aware that authority over major american ports were being given to foreign entities. Utter BS here.

This is a flat out lie, of course he knew.

The ports were already being ran by foreign entities.

It was a business transaction between companies.

Why should the president have been notified of a business deal?

I think this is being made a big deal for nothing.

If the President would have blocked the deal, all the Bush haters would be throwing a fit saying he was a racist.

You just can't please everyone.

To just blow this issue off and treat it as if "oh well" there are all kinds of foreigner's running ports, is very nieve for people to do. Of coarse this administration has people trying to smooth it over and look like it's just another business transaction. There could very well be a lot of undercover corrupt issues involved here. This UAE has traces to possibly funding 9/11, terrorism, along with other suspicious activities. Now if this was a democratic administration, they would be very very persecuted for this type of transaction. This does need to be seriously investigated further, and not blown off by any means.

Ah...Pardon me...But could we all just gather those little bits and pieces of our brains that spontaneously exploded when we first heard about this news and....think for a moment?

Good, now let's examine this situation a little more closely.

First of all, just because he's "The President" doesn't mean that George W. Bush has intimate knowledge of every little thing that's going on in this country's vast and intricate inner workings. There are perhaps hundreds of separate departments under the federal government including, but not limited to, a special department entirely devoted to analyzing how many soy beans come in and go out of this country's ports daily. There's a point to the fact that there are so many differential departments and departments heads, and heads of department heads in this country; and that is simply that one man cannot control it all. In fact, it was designed so that no one man has absolute control over it all.

Now, assuming that we all understand that George W. Bush, no matter how pious he appears to some of us on television, is not God almighty, what makes any of us think that he would have known, or had to have know anything about this deal in the first place, given the fact that the UAE is our strongest - if not only - ally in the war in terror in the Middle East? If Sweden, for example, were to have bought this company, would he have had to know about it? Would he have really even cared?

Would anyone have really cared?

From what I hear in the news (Which is not much, believe me), typically deals like this go first to a governmental subcommittee that does all the research, background checks (Obviously checking with the appropriate NSA agencies), financials, etc., which then advises some muckity-muck governmental port official, who then gives the yes or no on the whole deal. So the only reason that this whole deal took from November of last year until February of this year to come out, is that between then and now, all the background checks have been conducted on our side, and all the deals have been set to allow this thing to go forward. The President wouldn't have really even had to know much about the whole thing in the first place, so long as someone in the chain of command didn't mess things up somewhere along the way.

Know what? I believe him!

I believe that the President is confident enough that the UAE is being up-front about the whole thing; and I trust the President. I trust the men and women that he's got working for him to do the right thing in the interests of this country's national security.

Ovedya, I hope you are correct. Perhaps I am just a grumpy old man, but

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
