"Lord Hold Me Up" copyright "2003"

(chorus)

Lord hold me up for a little while

Till I can walk another mile

Let me stay here in Your Presence

And rest my head for just a little while------(tag) And rest my head for just a little while

Lord, there's no where else I can run to

Finding help I need but to you

So let me steal away here with you today

From all the troubles my soul would embrace (chourus)

Wrap your loving arms around me

Till I regain strenghth once again

Hold me ever so close to your dear side

Till I can make it with your hand in mine (chorus)

Without you I know I'll never make it

No matter what I do or say

Lord I need your help desperately this day

To go out and face whatever comes my way (chorus)

what good is it for those in these types of circumstances if they begin to share and bear the burdens within there heart with others if they leave the person flat after they offered a helping hand. I mean it almost seems people just want to know your problems more out of curiosity than because they really genuinly care about you. Words do have meaning but so does the actions of others as well. So many times people get let down thinking that someone really did care but turns out they only took the more from the person in the end. So many are in isolation because the hard fact is the majority of people don't really care and the few there are that really do are seriously rare and you are extremly blessed if you can find that someone who does really care.

There are many who have genuine care for persons with severe depression; particularly dedicated friends and family are willing to go out of their way to help. On the other hand, one of the symptoms of severe depression is thinking that others don't care enough for you, or that they are only trying to help out of pity or for some other self-serving reason. Oftentimes those dedicated friends and family members endure insults and accusations of not caring, but still stick around anyway, because they know that depression, self-esteem, and other factors involved tend to cause suicidal persons to push the ones they care for the most away from them. In a sense, someone is such a severe state needs to believe that nobody cares enough for them, because that state of denial enables them to hurt themselves. It's much easier to cause damage to yourself if you believe that it won't affect anybody else.

Not necessarily.

My experience was that no one around me knew how to help me. They didn't even know I had a severe depression problem any more than I did.

The men in my family deal with problems they can't handle by abdicating . . . which didn't help either.

Sometimes you "believe" they "care" - but not enough to make a difference or to go out of their way for you.

I don't know, maybe if they knew they needed to and knew how to, it might have helped.

But we we spirit-filled Christians, and of course, we know that spirit-filled Christians are immune from mental disorders... :)

The freedom we have in Christ can't be denied Sis. I will not say that Christians are immune but they should not be bound. We as believers must understand that we are NO LONGER APART OF THIS WORLD. But at times I think we feel this is too simple. Look to Christ not yourself. The reality is like you made reference to in another post in another topic. We are filthy, we are exactly what we are made of; dirt. But do you know the most beutiful thing. We have the PERFECTION OF GOD LIVING INSIDE OF US. What more do we want. Christ is immune to mental disorders, so the question is are we fully living by Christ. We still rely on the strenght of Adam to bring us thru, and God showed us exactly what He thought of Adam when our Lord was put on the cross. Adam is satans playground, he can manipulate, deceive, and live by Adam. But our Lord satan has no ground with, he is under our Lord, and we are in our Lord and He in us. Praise God for this!! We will never be anything in and of ourselves, but this is not a reason to lose hope for God knows this already.

Whatever happened to sanctification? Just because you have CHrist doesn't mean you're perfect...it means we have a way to overcome these difficulties...but we are never free from our fallen state. We will always suffer from physical problems (such as mental problems) and sin. Anyone who says Christians can't suffer from mental problems generally has no knowledge of either:

1) Mental problems

2) The Bible

Btw, we are a part of this world. We will be until we die. We can never escape it.

This denies reality. It's an over-simplification of a highly complex issue. It's flippant to say you'll be immune to mental disorders if you are "fully living in Christ". Since when are we no longer part of this world? What world are you living in? We're here every day, and we're here for a reason. Overcoming strongholds, disease sand struggles doesn't happen through religious mantras and living in denial. People overcome by the process of sanctification...it's a process. A long and often painful process of clinging to Christ when we are weak, scared, afraid and alone. We live in a fallen world and we will be here until Christ returns. You don't teach ppl to thrive and overcome by encouraging then to deny the reality and believe something contrary to the truth. You help them overcome by showing them that their struggles are part of living in a fallen world, they are a consequence of sin (from the Fall). Some of their struggles may be overcome in this lifetime, others may be a struggle to the very end until Christ Himself redeems the whole person. But until that day, we need to be lifting one another up, and quit placing a yoke of hyper-spirituality on them. Telling them that they will be "immune" to certain struggles if they simply "live in Christ" is a false gospel, it's bondage. It only adds to their burden. It needs to stop.

Exactly!

Becoming a Christian is just the beginning. We all still have some (or a lot!) of "flesh" to work out and overcome . . . and we do until we die. That's a part of living on the other side of Eden, so to speak.

Mine just happens to include overcoming the consequences of a painful childhood and not having known how to cope with it.

**

And ruck - no I'm not just sitting in it. I've been working hard over the past many years to overcome it. But it will be a weakness in me for the rest of my life. Some doors once oopen just don't quite shut all the way. But, I'm better able to handle the depression lapses when they come. That's a part of maturing and growing.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
