Yes, Mountain Dew has caffeine and yellow5 in it.

Pay close attention to the verses...

Mark 13:36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.

37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

14:37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

They read as if they were supposed to be one after the other, but they are a whole chapter apart. He not only told them, but He spant ALL DAY preaching on it!

OBTW, Luke 22:41 in the same story we find this gem...

And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

What was he doing, throwing stones at Jesus to measure distance?????

I like finding little things like this.

How about...

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

And now over to the beginning of Jesus ministry in

John 2

13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

John 3

22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.

John 4

3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.

4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

Later in John 4

40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.

And that two days goes really good into prophecy with 2 Peter 3:8 and Hosea 6:2, but that is a matter of a different thread.

Wow!  I am always interested in how people can see the very small details in the bible.  Like how Bruce Wilkenson found one sentence in the middle of a huge geneology about a prayer of some obscure person.  (Not that I condone the way he went about publicizing it).  In like manner though, you have seen a small story that the Holy Spirit has lightened your soul with and I would bet that not many of us has barely noticed the story....or the lesson that is contained in it.  (I don't think there is any such "obscure" story in the bible for it all pertains to life and godliness!)

I would like to add my favorite for the time being.  (I have two that I am thinking of, but will start with the story of Haman and Mordecai.)

In the book of Esther....chapter 2, we learn of a plot to kill the King Ahasuerus hatched by two of the kings door guards.  Mordecai the Jew catches wind of this and he tells Queen Esther (His niece) and she tells the king.  After the two guards were hanged on the gallows, the whole event "was written in the Book of the Chronicles in the king's presence." (Esther 2:23)

After that, the king promoted a guy named Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite...(I have yet to research who Hammedatha was)....and advanced him to "prime minister".  This caused no end to Haman's bloated head and ego.  Not to mention that the king also ordered that all who haman passes must bow down and pay Haman homage.  The only one that didn't bow or pay hoomage was Mordecai.  Haman HATED this and after a while, built a tall gallows in his front yard and planned to hang Mordecai on it as soon as he got the chance.  Anyway, we skip a bit to Chapter 6.

Chapter 6 finds that King Ahasuerus could not sleep one night, so he had the Book of records/chronicles brought in and read to him.  (I am almost sure that this was standard practice to cure insomnia.  It might also have been used for some cruel torture devise as well, but this is just my opinion  ).  I digress.....while reading this book to the king, it was found written what Mordecai had reported concerning the plot to assassinate the king.  After learning that nothing was done to honor or dignify Mordecai, King Ahasuerus called Haman and asked him, "What is to be done for the man whom the king desires to honor?" (Esther 6:6).  Immediately, Haman thought to himself, "Who would the king desire to honor more than me?" (Esther 6:6)

Haman then says the following; "For the man the king delights to honor, have them bring a royal robe the king has worn and a horse the king has ridden, one with a royal crest placed on its head.  Then let the robe and horse be entrusted to one of the king's most noble princes. Let them robe the man the king delights to honor, and lead him on the horse through the city streets, proclaiming before him, 'This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor!' " (Esther 6:7-9)  Now Haman was thinking of what he wanted from the king.  The most visible and lavasciuos set up his ming could think of.  The king agreed with him!!

(Esther 6:10-12)

"Go at once," the king commanded Haman. "Get the robe and the horse and do just as you have suggested for Mordecai the Jew, who sits at the king's gate. Do not neglect anything you have recommended."

Ran across this one as I was reading The 60_Second Christian

It is the story of the mother who asked Jesus if her two sons could sit next to Him in heaven. I love what Gary Collins had to say about it.

"When we get to heaven," she began, " can my two sons please sit next to your throne, one of my boys on your right and the other on your left?"

But Jesus handles it graciously, writes Collins. He began by telling them they couldn't have what they wanted, but then He went on to state the obvious: in this world, the important people are those who have power and positions of prominence, and prestige...that we value most in society---success.

THEN JESUS went on to say something radical...Christians shouldn't value things like that. "Whoever wants to become great among you must be a servant...anyone wanting to be greatest must be the least---the servant of all"

Jesus came to serve.

"Love one another. As I have loved you, so love one another." Love said Jesus, was the mark of a Christian. Seeing that love in action is how people recognize Christians.

Taken from the book The 60-second Christian by Gary Collins; pg 44-45

Here is something else he wrote that is really refreshing on page 64.

He is talking about a new born Christian here:

He didn't claim to have found a new religion, but he did say he found a new friend: Jesus.

"Could that old idea still be relevent today.".....then he goes on to tell of the letter Timothy wrote in the Bible..."Don't waste time arguing over foolish ideas," the letter states, "practice being a better Christian, because that will help you not only in this life, but in the next life too."

And don't let people look down on you. Instead," set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity." Put your hope in God, Paul tells Timothy, "who richly provides for us with everything for our enjoyment...Do good, be rich in good deeds and.........be generous and willing to share.....

The Christians purpose in life is to be like Jesus.........That is a powerful idea to think about. (what a wonderful destiny)

It can be read in only a few seconds, but reflecting on it takes much longer. Putting it into practice takes a lifetime...a minute at a time.

Scriptures found in 1Timothy 4:7-8 (TLB) and 12, 6:17, 18 (NIV)

Now, I know there are some who would take issue on who found who. eg...did I find Jesus, or did Jesus find me......really silly stuff to argue about...but the point is that it isn't a religion Christians are born into...it is a relationship with the Lord.

If I come up to you and ask you something like, "Are you a Christian?" and you get all defensive and start telling me what church you belong to I gotta wonder where Jesus is in your life.

And I know there are some who would take issue with the definition of success. I mean after all the Lord wants His children to prosper, right? Yes, He does. But not to set our hearts on anything other than Him.

I would have to wonder if some have come so far away from the Lord that they have forgotten that He has given us a glimpse of what is stored up in heaven

for us through His Spirit. He has revealed to us what our eyes cannot see. What a wonderful Lord we serve!! He is sooooo good! How awesome it is just to have the priviledge of knowing Him and speaking His name!

The great things He serves us with from His table, and not with any measure either!

...our cups run over with His blessings. Joy, peace, faith, hope love....the knoweldge of Him through a personal relationship with Him....and this knowledge will spill over in us to the family of God and yes, even our enemies see the love of God in our lives as we are conformed to His image.

I had so much fun (and time!) with this thread! Just thought I'd bump it to see if anyone out there had anything to add.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
